“The orange juice was like a rock. You could have thrown it at someone and knocked them down” is by far the best line of the vid! Like it’s totally normal to throw rocks at people! 😂 Great racing, both of you! I can’t imagine how cold it was. I kept waiting for you to take off your jacket and hat!
Haha. The OJ was a legit weapon Matt!! We got to the car and put it against the vent to thaw it and it took a while. And nope. No taking off of hat and jacket. I took off my gloves and put them back on about 2 miles later. I didn't even sweat!! On the plus side, no sweat, no chaffing 😆
Great video, Suzie! Congratulations to you and your brother for pushing through such incredibly challenging conditions. So strong and so inspiring as always! Wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving! Cheers, Scott🤓
Thanks so much Scott!!! In retrospect, we did some crazy stuff!! Apparently out of 13k people who signed up, only 8k crossed the finish line... that is a lot of people who either didn't show up or didn't finish! I'd say Happy Thanksgiving back at you, but I know in Canada you celebrate sooner than us here in the US. :)
Congrats to both of you. I will say what a difference between running NYC marathon with the crowd support versus Philadelphia. Marathons are just so hard and crowd support is everything!
Outstanding job by both of you finishing in such difficult conditions! And Suzie, you're the best race buddy ever! I love the medal too, and I'm not even into race swag. That bell sounds amazing! Super well done.
@@IRunThings I'm sure he came away with some new stories to tell, which is the biggest thing we get from races. And you did an incredible job of helping him to finish.
I did what he would have done for me. We were in it together. And given the weather conditions it could have happened to me too. But yes I am sure he is telling all his running friends back in Spain how frigging cold it was... haha
I Suzie! Congratulations! I always wanted to run the Philly marathon. I stick to locals (Marine Corps, National, Baltimore and Bishop's). I hate running in cold weather! 🥶It's better than hot though, you can always take your layers off. I hope you do more videos! Take care!😃👋🏽👨🏽⚕️🏃🏽♂️
Big Congrats!!!!!!!!! How awesome that your brother came all the way from Spain to run with you and that you could do this together. I LOVE how you cheer him on and help him finish. BIG Congrats! Sois geniales. Muchas felicidades. A por la siguiente, pero donde no haga tanto frio.
What an amazing story of determination with your brother! You did a great job Suzie sticking it out with him. We all know how it feels when you just feel like you can’t finish. But you got him through and wow what a beautiful metal you guys got. On a sidenote I was keeping an eye out for my friend Paul hoping I would catch a glimpse of him in your videos but I didn’t see him. But I did see the skateboard guy and Lara also saw that skateboard guy on her marathon in Dublin which was just a couple weeks before you did yours. I guess it’s a small world! Great video!
The skateboard guy was with us for a long stretch... but I am pretty sure he finished ahead of us! And yes, my brother is such a tough cookie. I thought we were for sure going to DNF it.
Congratulations to you both in those very challenging conditions. Well done for helping your Brother to the finish. I hope you’ve now warmed up. 😊. Lovely medal by the way. 🥇x
Congratulations to you and your brother. You had really tough conditions and made it to the finish. I could hear the wind all through the video. Not like NYC, but maybe I'll give it a try sometime. Now I have to deal with opposite conditions that your brother had to contend with. It's been cold in SC and I will be running in Honolulu in two weeks. I hope the heat won't kill me!!!! Great job.
Nothing is like NYC.... but Philly is still a great marathon. Which race are you doing in Honolulu in December? Is it the marathon or something else? And good luck to you! Come back and tell us how you did please!
Good sisters stick with their family as you did! I thought the weather would be better for you in Philly. My runner buddy told me the wind was killer on Kelly Drive. So glad you made it to the end. Believe or not I ran 14 at the shore and because the wind was from the west it wasn't as bad. Congrats!
Thank you!!!! Kelly Drive was tough. It's tough without the wind and the cold temperatures because it's a long stretch and it's an out and back. But I am sure running in the shore wasn't easy either!!! Kudos to you for running 14 miles there!
Congrats on toughing it out! Ran this one as well, and out of 63 marathons, this was one of the hardest, conditions wise, that I have run. And you are spot on about the OJ! The mini Kind bars were also frozen. Had to watch to not chip a tooth!
All I ended up having at the end was the chicken soup and a half a bagel. The chicken soup felt heavenly :) And that is something, that out of 63 marathons this was the hardest you've run condition wise. It was mine as well but I have only run 6!!! Congrats to you as well!
So proud of you two, omg it was so cold that day, Suzie you have done it all this year, the heat , the rain, and now the freezing cold! It must run in the family, you're brother toughed that out like a real trooper! Congrats on a well-earned finish. 🎖🎖
Thanks so much Linda!!! And I was actually thinking the same... I ran the hottest Brookly half in May, a super windy AC full... and now this! But such is the life of the runner. You cannot pick the weather :)
Congratulations! That time is still super good though. I'm sure it was a great experience to get to run it with your brother too. Honestly, the cold is one of the reasons why I have never really sign up for many races between October and March. I am not a cold weather person at all. Even though it's not as cold in Tennessee in the Winter as Pennsylvania, you never know if it is going to be 75 degrees or -5 degrees that time of year. I also feel like I'm breathing knives into my lungs when I run in cold temperatures.
It took me a while to get used to the temperatures, to be honest. And I still do not enjoy running when it's that cold. Anything under 35 and I run on the treadmill.... although now we can say we ran a SUPER HARD marathon and lived to tell the story!! LOL. The feeling of accomplishment is there for sure!
Meanwhile.... 3 months later ... I was cold just watching that! ❄️⛄ Horrible! Your poor brother... Hat tip 🎩 to him for being on the verge of hypothermia but having the strength of will (and his sisters help!) to *get it done* Anecdote: The coldest I have ever been in a race was 10 or so years ago.... hilly off road, 21 miler, difficult underfoot - sticky mud - trainers had to be extracted from mud in my socked feet several times slippery chalk. Most interesting the constant cold/sleety rain had turned paths into streams so we were constantly on the uphill sections running through water. I saw 1 tiny gal (about your size) being helped out of a *puddle* that came up to her chest! The wind was blowing cold cold cold, I wasn't wearing nearly enough. Mud all over me.... about 4 miles fron the end there was hot tea and cake - my mouth was gloriously full of tea, cake and mud from my hands, that kept me going - the warmth of the village hall at the end was a delight: a real buzz of relief from all who finished. It took 3hrs 50mins it seemed more like 6 hours!
Oh my God. Your race experience sounds bad... but you strike me as a super positive individual that takes the bad with the good. I am that way too. I am grateful that I ran with my brother, Id just wish that it would have been better for his sake, not for mine. I am the older so in many ways I feel like he is my responsibility as the older sibling (and the host) to take control of the situation. But he would have done the same for me if the situation had been reversed.

The no sweat no chaffing sure is a silver lining of cold weather!
I'll take it. Every cloud has a silver lining ✨️
Nice video! Hopefully 2023 is the year of Philly Marathon for me. Loved the guy at 11:40 so cheerfull
Yeah!!! I wished he had said his name!!
And Philly is an awesome marathon. I'll run it again for sure.

Looks like the wind was the worst part of the race! You did a great job looking after your brother and keeping his spirits up. Love the medal!! 🤓
The medal is SUPER nice! But the conditions were so hard. Hardest race conditions wise I've ever run
Wow great job coaching your brother through that difficulty!! Glad you guys finished!! Loved hearing your race recap!! Congratulations Suzie!!🎉
Thanks Shane!! My brother was a star. He says he never thought about giving up. What a beast!
It’s definitely a cool medal love it
cold & windy for sure especially beginning & end lol
swore I wouldn’t do it again but Im heading back for more
Good for you! I might do the half. We'll see

Thank you 😊 I wish he had had a better time running it, and I loved running this. Despite the conditions.

Hello from Canada ( Québec )👋
Thanks for being here!!! 🥰

Mi hermano se ha sonreido con este comentario. His thoughts exactly!!! La proxima en Florida, dice. jaja
Congratulations to you and your brother for finishing. Way to brave the very cold weather.
Even though it was super cold... I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Not sure my brother would... he was really questioning his personal life choices.

Gracias por compartir, una pregunta el clima para esa fecha es muy frío ?
Yo la corri otro año y no hizo tanto como este. Este se batieron records. Pero frio hace siempre en estas fechas eh?
@@IRunThings gracias ☺️
Congratulations!! Great job finishing in tough conditions.
Thanks!! Apparently they had 13k people signed up and only 8k finished
@@IRunThings lot skipped it due to weather
Yes. Some didn't start and others did but did not finish
Kudos to you for being able to hold the record while trying to avoid frostbite
I had the foam selfie stick with me which luckily doesn't get as cold as my other regular selfie stick 🤪
Congrats just curious what did you use to record this video
www.insta360.com/sal/go_2?insrc=INRBKAU this is the action camera I use 100% of the time
How fun to run with your brother & what a unique medal! I hope to run this race one day 🤞🙏🏻
Hi Suzie, just curious how cold was it? In degree
The coldest was 15F / -9C. It went up so bit but not much
Wow! That’s super cold, and the wind makes it worst. You truly motivate me.
Yeah. I have never run in such cold weather for such a long time
Una locura el viento y el frio , terminar este maratón fue un mérito tremendo felicidades a ti y a tu hermano!
Locura total!!!
