I find that it's really about diet and what you eat rather than exercise. Exercise helps you maintain your weight but even when I trained for the NYC Marathon, I found I ended up gaining weight. Intervals are good to help with weight loss. Many people run the same every day or every other day and don't change it up. When you do this method, you need to RUN during the run intervals and walk easy during those breaks. I hope that helps.
