Hello David, or Connie? or whoever is looking after this stuff. I'm quite impressed with David's teaching technique ( although sometimes the deep philosophical comments are a bit much for my small brain - I still like it though ). This video in particular, is the first really original & different idea I have seen in quite some time. I am curious though, is the reason the squeegee works so well in the early stages, is because of doing the painting on a sheet of aluminum? Would that part work the same on canvas? Or a smooth wooden board? Also, when I am purchasing paint, how is it possible to tell if a colour is more transparent or opaque? Is it just a case of remembering which is which, or are they marked in some way I haven't noticed before? And I really didn't understand the Tuna reference. thank you.
I laughed out loud several times while watching...also, I learned that I don't need gillions of glazes to achieve depth of field... Time to build a bigger body of work...Blick is gonna make a fortune on me...🙂
Thanks a lot David, you made me laugh, you educated me and now inspired..I haven't been this in ore since I first saw Constable, Turner and Monet at the The National when I was 13...now being 48..it's been a while! I am going to give it a go and see where the mystery takes me :). could I get the same effect with Acrylic paints/ glazes on canvas or would it best to use oils?
I have a very dark landscape that I want to change. Bring the light! I want to tie in the sky with the mountains so should I consider adding the glaze color to both land and air or is it easier to work on them separately? Never mind. I'll just let it rip. Stuart Davies says Hello. Thanks for the inspiration.
I understand that you are a landscape artist and maybe you can’t answer my question. Somehow I think you can. So here it is. What if you have a figure painting and you want to apply this approach to it. What can you hope to try to get out of it. Thank you.
