Don't forget to bleed the coolant. Sometimes, but not often air bubbles gets trapped when the sensors are up high and that can cause a false reading. I've had that issue even when the probe was installed on a side facing port vs one on top.

Friggin awesome. I just put a mechanical gauge in for the first time and did not know about the second nut. Lost a gallon of brand new coolant

You'll want to use an electric gauge on a B18 motor. The probe on the mechanical will be too large unless you use a radiator hose adapter. An electric sender can thread right into the passenger's side of the head in place of the original sender.

Thanks Marty! Now I can finally know temps when I hit 88 MPH.

I'm pretty sure your tired of all the questions, but here goes. How about the top radiator hose? I've heard the thermostat might get stuck and not open, but the manifold looks like there is no spare nut coming out of it. Thanks for the video.

Where on the generator will be in a isolation box and I could certainly use an engine temperature sensor.
    Thanks.

      Ron Hensley
for the back light on the gauge, there should only be 2 wires connecting to the light bulb socket, a black wire and a red wire. The black wire is ground (-) and all you want to do with that is just find a good clean metal surface to bolt it down to, doesn't matter where just as long as you clean up the surface. the red wire is the hot wire and thats going to power the actual light bulb. With that you can splice into the main wire harness from the wire that sends power to light up all your other gauges/instruments. If your not sure where to find that wire check your haynes manual or a spec sheet/wireing diagram for you car's make/model online. Also as a hint the wire that sends lighting power to your instruments will be connected to your head light switch so that's a good place to start looking lol Good luck.

The thing is, is that Im not sure what is too hot of a temp at the head. Mine is in the head on the drivers side an the temp gets to about 210 at 60-65 mph. I have a 180 stat in. Does this sound normal?

you forgot to show the very large diameter hole you had to have cut through the firewall to fee that probe with nut though it. That will be one big ugly hole that will need to be filled up with a grommet or bezel / washer or what have you.
