Fun fact the guy who voices Jarek in this game is a Game Design professsor who I’ve had at DePaul university. He was really proud of his delivery in these games and showed us these clips in class, he’s a really sweet guy and you could tell he liked working on the game (:

Dunkey laughing during cutscenes that are meant to be taken seriously will never get old
I remember playing this way back in the day and those crazy cutscenes; I always wondered if things like the "alright" whisper were deliberately silly, or if it was just a placeholder left in.
This was apparently the first 3D game this studio developed and they were totally overwhelmed by it. So I think the voice acting cues were overlooked. This game was deliberately made less cartoonish (lol) and more violent, hence the penguin nerf. So no this is all meant to be taken fairly seriously at least for a silly fighting game.
@@4968ace yeah.... but the arrright was def a inside joke between the devs. i dont think that was a place holder for sound cues. they put a fucking caption for it when sub zero said it.
Only the N64 version is this silly, which is why he used it for the video.

When people said Old Gen Mortal Kombat games were better than the new ones, I didn't think they were THIS good. When Jax said "this is not a brutality, its a FATALITY" I literally cried for hours because of the amazing writing. Bravo Vince

This was the first game I bought by myself. I saved up and had my aunt take me to this local video game store. Paid for the game in full but then had to come back later because they had t record their shipment. I was obsessed with this game. Played all the way through. All characters, all endings, all fatalities. With no internet kids.

The best thing about that cliff cutscene is that it's each character's ending cutscene. Sonya's ends when Jarek falls off the cliff, Jarek's ends when he smashes the walkie-talkie, and Jax is the entire thing.

Having characters actually interrupt each other instead of just stopping their lines abruptly , pausing, and then letting the other guy speak is something I wish more videogames did
wish they overlapped more though, the cutoff in this was too crisp to be realistic.

The game was underrated, it had cinematic ending scenes, the first MK game to do so, MK 1, 2 and 3 just had text endings MK 4 had actual cinematic endings and dialogues and great sound track.
