You have to feel bad for Tim. Raul Julia was perfect as Gomez, but he also had snappy, well written dialogue and a wonderful supporting cast backing him up. Tim had none of that, and the directors of this abomination forced him into making his take on the character as close to Raul's as he could muster. Had he been given more leeway with the character, and had he not been propping up a bad script and wooden actors, he would have made a great Gomez in his own right.
It's not the director's fault. It's the producer's fault. They ruined the film with interference. The director wanted to make a dark, edgy and satirical film, but noooo, the producers had to interfere to make this film more for kids than for adults. Tim is trying to do his best acting in this film as Gomez, but couldn't save the film.
1krani Um...Addams Family Reunion was worse than Scary Movie 2, in fact I'd say if Tim wasn't in it, Disaster Movie would be the funnier film. I am dead serious. As a fan of the show and the other two movies, you have no idea how hard that was to write.
Morbius Fitzgerald Dude, NO. Just, NO. I got suckered into seeing Disaster Movie, and it is the worst piece of cinematic fodder I have ever seen in my life. Yes, most of this TV movie wasn't funny. NONE of Disaster Movie was funny and a lot of it scarred me with some of the things I saw. Master of Disguise and Son of the Mask are better movies than Disaster Movie. Heck, BATMAN AND ROBIN is at least entertaining at how awful it is, and at LEAST it keeps Bane in his classic attire.
Yeah this just isn't the Addams Family I know and love, much prefer The Addams Family and Addams Family values cast/portrayal better, but Tim Curry's a right legend and can do no wrong in his roles.
Guys, just stop comparing Tim's Gomez with Raul's. Both are amazing actors and did a wonderful job. The bad part of this movie was that Tim dedicated much more than the others (my point of view). He saves every movie he's in, as always.
I liked Currys performance as Gomez. Was it the best performance as Gomez, no. But was it boring, no. Simply satisfactory. Curry had the right look and swag for it, but it's hard to surpass Juliá's performance. Curry pulled his weight for the film, everyone else didn't which is why the film was so bad.
From watching this as a kid I always tried to do that ping ping move of chucking the bat into the air on a high ball to hit it, did it once and looked like such a boss at the rec centre, curry saved this film for me, everyone else was awful
If Tim would've had a better supporting cast and better writing this could've been a hit. Tim killed it as Gomez. Yes Raul was the best. But in the terms of people who could've been Gomez after him Tim was a perfect choice.
Tim Curry was a worthy successor in the terms of weird, but it was too high a mountain to climb to fill Raul Julia's shoes. I feel like not enough time had passed when this was made and everyone just couldn't comprehend a new Gomez yet. Raul was a serious Gomez who believed the world was like the Addams' word, which is why it was funny to see him treat people like everything was ok, only to have them freak out in return. Tim's Gomez is too self-aware that he is strange and the world is different and that takes away from his performance. I like Tim as Gomez, he's great, but he's filling a role that had been perfected by Raul. It really wasn't possible for people to accept him as Gomez.
You make a very fair point, but Tim's Gomez was before Raul's Gomez. While I will always love Tim for his roles, especially Rocky Horror and Fern Gully as I obsessed over those as a child, I appreciate Raul's Gomez for the reasons you said. It was much more amazing for Gomez to be oblivious about his creepiness.
Actually it wasn't. Tim Curry's Gomez, Addams Family Reunion, was 98. Which was after Addams Family and Values. It had none of the original cast at all and you had a different tone than the first two movies, in addition to someone taking a character in a different direction.
Yes and no, agree and disagree- yes I do believe Raul was an excellent Gomez, best hands down. But at the same time it is always ALWAYS HARD when you compare it with Tim Curry who is on a whole different chart when it comes to performances
Much as I like Curry, this is such a feeble imitation of Julia, Huston, Lloyd and the sublime Ricci that I can't but hate it. Addams Family Values is a Perfect Screwball Comedy. Capra would have been proud of it.
Tim actually is perfect as Gomez. He's always feeling Sexy and whenever he takes a partner to dance with their just admirable to watch and he makes lots of other people jealous while doing it!😂
Is nobody gonna talk about how incredibly strong Philip is and the actor playing him is for lifting and carrying Gomez up over his head and dragging him across the table?
When the guy said "I'll give my right arm to see you lose" after challenging Gomez to a game of Ping Pong, Gomez should have tanked the game. Gomez then should have said "It's time to give me your right arm old man"
Tim Curry is such a gifted actor, that if he had played Gomez in the first two movies, we would have loved it!!! However, since Raul Julia put his stamp on it, this doesn't compare. And nothing beats Angelica Houston's Morticia!!!
Lol they WOULD cast Tim curry for this. Honestly I would of been cool with him being in the first two movies. Maybe not as the dad but definitely a character non the less
Seriously is nobody going to talk about how freaking strong Philip is for lifting and carrying Gomez up over his head and dragging him across the table?
For such a brilliant actor, He seemed to always choose B films after IT and Rocky Horror Picture Show. He was even supposed to be the Joker until replaced with Jack Nicholson.
This was a straight to vhs movie. It really wasn't that bad, and Ray Walston was really funny. Darryl Hannah made a great Morticia, she also reminded me of Malia Nurmi aka Vampira, the original horror movie hostess from the 50's and Plan 9 From Outerspace.
I'd say Tim Curry played Gomez Addams the Showoff. The part of Gomez who had no qualms about showing his copious amount of talent to and against other people while Raul Julia played Gomez in every aspect (from what I know of the Addams Family)
Does anyone have the full song morticia and gomez dance to? I love it but cannot find it at all I know the name of the artist and title, but it doesn't seem to exist outside this scene
@RavenclawStudent there is special equipment which copies VHS into cd´s, and then it can be ripped onto a computer. idk about the us, but here in panama, for each movie, this process comes around 30 bucks.
As much as i like Tim Curry but it's hard to surpass John Austin's performance as Gomez cause John Austin had a more jolly full of life and energy role that he played while Raul Juliá' and Tim Curry didn't.
@VincentValentine1313 Well thats cool that Burton will do a version of the addams family, and yes as usual it would be expected that Johnny and Helena will be on the movie.
@Alexshik12 Consider your wish granted. Tim has stated that he is doing an stop-motion version of the Addams Family. I don't think casting has been set but you know that Johnny and Helena will be in there somewhere.
does anyone know what the song is that they danced to? It is also on death to smoochie. I still don't know who does it. after seeing these clips, I want to see the whole movie.Curry and Hannah are goood together.By the way, in the jail scene, was she wearing a necklace or did they sew her head on?
I haven't seen this one but I would definitely give it a try to see how it was as its OWN movie, not necessarily a continuation of the Raul Julia/Anjelica Houston/Christopher Lloyd films.

I don't care if Tim Curry isn't as good at Gomez as Raul Julia. He's still Tim Curry. And he's still awesome. Plus, I just love his voice. ^_^
He wins second place for me❤️
Raul Julia, taken from us way too soon, is my number one as Gomez but Tim Curry is a very close second.
sorry but he sucks as Gomez...he is not talented enough to play demanding role as Gomez...
I gotta admit, even though I hate this movie, Tim Curry is the one thing salvageable about it.
Tim Curry's the one thing salvageable about *any* movie he's in, even Scary Movie 2.
1krani Um...Addams Family Reunion was worse than Scary Movie 2, in fact I'd say if Tim wasn't in it, Disaster Movie would be the funnier film. I am dead serious. As a fan of the show and the other two movies, you have no idea how hard that was to write.

Like Jim Carrey & “Kiss For A Rose” in Batman Forever
Tim Curry carries this.
Tim Curry did not deserve that stroke. The man is a childhood icon on of mine, between being awesome or terrifying in Legend, Clue, and IT,
@@JnEricsonx Mine too. I just wish I noticed his brilliance much earlier in life.
Raul Julia was watching Tim Curry's performance from above and smiling with relief 😊😊
Any bad movie, as long as tim curry is in it. He makes it worth it
i wish i had a ringtone of tim currys voice!
Guys....idc what anyone says;
No matter what people think about the movie, Tim Curry was a GREAT Gomez Addams
Tim Curry was the only reason i watch and liked this movie
Guys, just stop comparing Tim's Gomez with Raul's. Both are amazing actors and did a wonderful job. The bad part of this movie was that Tim dedicated much more than the others (my point of view). He saves every movie he's in, as always.
AS ALWAYS....so true
(Hears screaming) "Oh, good. The mail is here." 😂😂😂
A.K.A: The only parts of this film you ever need to watch.
I liked Currys performance as Gomez. Was it the best performance as Gomez, no. But was it boring, no. Simply satisfactory. Is there anything Mr curry does that's boring
His laugh is what sells it
Hannah can never be a Morticia Addams.
Psyondrax1 I don't know why they picked her cause she was too ugly, Morticia was supposed to be beautiful and alluring, not an ugly hag.
She is sensational
@@ETH5626 watch yourself! Daryl Hannah is a gorgeous woman
@@userfridaywiggly18943 Maybe in her younger years but as off now, Not even make up can save her age. Besides her jaw bone is too manly.
Why? I can be whatever I want!
~(Sorry had to make a joke about my name)

Even though the rest of the movie was terrible, Tim still delivered and made me laugh
If Tim would've had a better supporting cast and better writing this could've been a hit. Tim killed it as Gomez. Yes Raul was the best. But in the terms of people who could've been Gomez after him Tim was a perfect choice.
Love this movie. Rented it so many times from Blockbuster as a kid, think I ruined one or two of their copies 😂

I feel like not enough time had passed when this was made and everyone just couldn't comprehend a new Gomez yet. IsItModern i don't even know Tim was once played Gomez ... shame on me 😢 but Tim has always been a charming yet peculiar and love him 😊
Actually it wasn't. Tim Curry's Gomez, Addams Family Reunion, was 98. Which was after Addams Family and Values. It had none of the original cast at all and you had a different tone than the first two movies, in addition to someone taking a character in a different direction.
None of the cast barring Lurch
Tim Curry was the only reason I watched this film
As much as I love Tim, he could never be as good a Raul Julia as Gomez.
Daryl Hannah too, excellent actress but there's no Morticia like Angelica Houston.
ToroFA I know right all of them are not the same from the first 2 films
Rodrigo Algorta I disagree cause Ellie Harvie did a good job as Morticia in the new addams family show.
John Astin and Carolyn Jones are unbeatable
Yes and no, agree and disagree- yes I do believe Raul was an excellent Gomez, best hands down. But at the same time it is always ALWAYS HARD when you compare it with Tim Curry who is on a whole different chart when it comes to performances

Addams Family Values is a Perfect Screwball Comedy. Capra would have been proud of it.
Sometimes I think people forget about the original first series adaptation. With Astin and Jones
OMG I LOVE THIS MAN
Tim actually is perfect as Gomez.
He's always feeling Sexy and whenever he takes a partner to dance with their just admirable to watch and he makes lots of other people jealous while doing it!😂
Angelica was the greatest wife and Raul was the greatest Gomez.
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE TIME CURRY THOUGH.
Tim Curry was born to play Gomez Addams.
Prove me wrong.
Is nobody gonna talk about how incredibly strong Philip is and the actor playing him is for lifting and carrying Gomez up over his head and dragging him across the table?
Why do I feel like Tim curry is the best for horror and comedy
And we get to see Tim do some Dirty Dancing style dancing!😄👏
I don't know why there is so much negativity about it. I loved this film when I was a kid and Tim Curry's portrayal of Gomez is my favourite one!
0:36 Tim Curry’s Nigel Thornberry laugh lmao
Tim Curry invented the "whoa" dance in 1998. My proof is @ 4:12.
Happy birthday tim from italian boy live in rome
they couldve at least kept angelica huston as mortica.
she nails that part.
I think she and Christopher Lloyd refused to return withourt Raul Julia
I don’t think I’ve ever this. Amazing that Tim Curry is in it :)
When the guy said "I'll give my right arm to see you lose" after challenging Gomez to a game of Ping Pong, Gomez should have tanked the game. Gomez then should have said "It's time to give me your right arm old man"
The Arcadinator sadly, that would have indicated far too much creativity & intelligence on the part of the writers of this wretched exercise.
you know, the film is terrible...but Tim, never lol
I loved him in one of the home alone movies. The ones with macaulay culkin.
I think that’s the only good thing about the movie it had Tim Curry in it. 😂
Yess hahaha
He manages to chew scenery in a terrible script. His comedic timing is just perfection. He's too good for this film.
I think Christopher Lloyd did the best Fester Adams, by the way.
Tim Curry is such a gifted actor, that if he had played Gomez in the first two movies, we would have loved it!!! However, since Raul Julia put his stamp on it, this doesn't compare. And nothing beats Angelica Houston's Morticia!!!
Thank you for uploading. Now I never have to witness in full just how bad this film is
It's pretty awful, ngl. But Tim was entertaining enough. 🤷
He’s one of the best Gomez Addams. I’m a big fan of Tim Curry as a kid. I grew up watching him in the 90s ❤
Even if a movie is only one star Tim Curry is the reason why it got the one star ⭐️
Lol they WOULD cast Tim curry for this. Honestly I would of been cool with him being in the first two movies. Maybe not as the dad but definitely a character non the less
Now do M.Bison Mr Curry.
NOW WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE OMFG RIP TO JULIA BUTTTTTTTT
TIM CURRY 👀👀👀👀UUUUUMMMMMMM YES OMG 😭😭❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
I love how he's got a slight latin twang I'm sure thats in honour of Raul Julia
I loved this movie.. It was awesome
Tim Curry is the best ❤️❤️❤️
0:33 “It has ARRIVED!”
I was 14 when this movie was released. I never watched it... and never will
Seriously is nobody going to talk about how freaking strong Philip is for lifting and carrying Gomez up over his head and dragging him across the table?
"oHO they ALL Float!"
Great Tim curry
I agree. Tims take is his own, and I do think he had a good idea for Gomez, but Raul set the bar high. And may I say that I miss Raul very much.
Tim’s career deserved better
Brilliant performance💀👻☠️
Raul Julia was a legend, but Tim Curry ould've been a good replacement
life would have been complete if angelica could have played morticia in this..
And the rest of the original cast came back
Well Christina and Jimmy didn't want to because they were too old, and Angelica and Christopher wouldn't come back without Raul Julia.
...and Cher wasn't available.
Tim Curry was great as Gomez and Lurch and Thing still had the same actors from the previous two films.
So we were mostly watching this movie for Tim, right?
Omg this is sad...Tims not bad but....Daryl???? Ugh
Tim Curry... What the fuck were you thinking when you accepted to make this movie????
I'm pretty sure to make the Addams Family they just followed Tim Curry around with a camera.
He was the only good thing about this movie...
For such a brilliant actor, He seemed to always choose B films after IT and Rocky Horror Picture Show. He was even supposed to be the Joker until replaced with Jack Nicholson.
Loved him in home alone 2

i love this man !!!
I think I remember this movie now... Is this "Addams Family: To All is Relative."
How did I manage to miss this until now? Must find and watch!
Ha ha! This isn't Tim Curry as Gomez Addams, this is Tim Curry playing Tim Curry DRESSED as Gomez Addams. :-D Still love him though.
Nobody loves Tim Curry more then myself, but God.........I miss Raul Julia so much.

How interesting to have Tim Curry try to channel Raul Julia . . . never mind John Astin.

First Tim Curry as Gomez Addams, then Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster. Crossover, anyone?
I wish Tim Curry potrayed Gomez is all 3. What perfect casting!
As much as i like Tim Curry but it's hard to surpass John Austin's performance as Gomez cause John Austin had a more jolly full of life and energy role that he played while Raul Juliá' and Tim Curry didn't.
