Production time is huge. Imagine being at your job, but before each and every task you perform throughout your day, you have to point, start and stop multiple cameras. And not block them as you work. Then edit time, hours of temple rubbing frustration. One of the things I really appreciate about Nate's finished product is the commitment and dedication to the gags. Everyone loves a well done gag insert, but it consumes an incredible amount of time to make it work. I thoroughly enjoyed getting the cord sucked through the back of the piano!
I really appreciate your recognition and feedback! Currently I only use one camera, and it's often more than I can manage! Framing is an entire art form that I'm clearly still figuring out.
On the other hand, the gags show up uninvited, though they're always welcome!
This!!! x1000! It is easy to get lost in the moment while watching. I'm a Otto-Patron. You can be, too! Let's support the work of our community and the preservation this joyful history. :)
Very well worded and I agree with you!
Coinola is my favorite brand. Can't wait to see more! (Outside the Vacuum = no pressure. It took me this long to get it.)
This is only the second electric piano I've worked on but so far I'm really liking the design.
The "C" in the model meant the case style. Operators Piano Co had several standarized cases used for Coinola keyboard models, to wit:
A
C
C-2
CO
D & K
J
X
Plus a couple cases were used by the Reproduco piano-organ models, and the style Y photoplayer.
Many of these are shown on the Mechanical Music Press Operators Piano Co (Coinola/Reproduco) site; and all in the new Reblitz-Bowers book from 2019.
At least one of the cases was used for only one model (CO); but all or most of the others were used for several models apiece.
The style C case was used at least for models C, CF and CX.
Nice a duke box ☺ This is going to be fun. 2x👍
Wow! Looking forward to this one!
I'm excited to see how it turns out. There's quite a ways to go yet though!
I recognise your exitement about finding an instrument in unrestored original condition. It gives you all the info you need to bring it back to life.
I am a carriage restorer, and finding a good quality carriage in whatever (hopefully basicly good) condition that is really untouched is such a great thing and a great help for bringing it back to life!
Yes! Now the challenge is to restore it without leaving a trace I was ever there.
I can't wait for a new series in the making!!!!!!
Yes! I'm glad I get to share the adventure with you.
Appreciate the work you put into these videos Nate. Loved the 'step one' running gag and just 'rip' the airlines!
Hey there, Mark! This was such a fun one to get my hands on. Now I have to clean up the fine mess I've made!
@@nateoutsidethevacuum 😂😂 _another fine mess!_
Looking forward to episodes to come!
Thank you!
I'm super stoked there's a new series in the making!
Your excitement is all the more encouraging, thank you!
What an incredible instrument, a total time capsule! Looking forward to the next installments in the restoration.
I hope I can do it justice!
This ought to be a fun build series.
Fingers crossed!
A new year and a new project! I am looking forward to it! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! Cheers!
I am so excited for this build!
Thank you! Me too! I've learned so much already.
Awesome video - can't wait for the rest of the series!
Thank you for joining in!
It is beautiful! Can’t wait to watch you do your thing.
I'm so lucky to have the chance! Thank you for helping me get here.
Exciting! Can’t wait to see more! Your videos are so fun to watch!🎉
I'm really glad you enjoy them! I'm looking forward to this fresh start with a new series.
It will be exciting to see your full restoration of this instrument. Your restorations are magnificent. I have been privileged to see a couple and your work is first rate. I am sure that this will be no exception. At least with this one, you are undoing a minimum amount of damage that may have been done years ago with someone's patch up and or restorations using the wrong parts etc. Wishing you the best.
Thank you for your kind words and feedback.
I really am excited about this one! It's amazing how one past careless repair can make for hours and hours of work. Of course it's important that I am not setting any booby traps for would-be future restorations, either!
I’m excited for this project! I really enjoy your videos, I learn quite a bit and appreciate you keeping these machines alive!
I'm glad you get something out of them! I'll keep at it.
Oh hell yes. Subbed.
Thank you! I appreciate it.
man, i just came across your channel and immediately subscribed. you are super underrated and talented, and hello from st louis!
Hey, I really appreciate that! Thank you for joining along. Cheers!
Uncommon finish
Yes! Called "Silver Fox". I'll have to learn how to replicate it.
Also called "Silver-Grey". The Gonzales family / furniture restoration business in Pico Rivera CA might be able to help you with this technique. They restored / reconstructed a giant Wurlitzer / Philipps style 32 Concert PianOrchestra orchestrion case which has this finish on the outside.
Cant wait to see more, and happy new year
Thanks for taking a look. Cheers!
First of all, I am super excited about the new project! Second, where in the world were you able to find such an untouched antique? Third, will my friend Steve of South Dakota be helping you any? And finally, I want you to know that I am supporting you and will continue to do so! I realize the incredible effort it is to post videos on RUclips, but how often will we see segments of this restoration? BEST OF LUCK!!
Hello! Thank you for your interest! This one fell into my lap. I'm still recovering. Yes, Steve has been a big help restringing and tuning this beast. Thank you SO much for your support over on Patreon!
That is very rare! Those Coinola pianos almost never have all original parts, so you're incredibly lucky to have found that beautiful nickelodeon. I'm excited to see this project and really happy to see you have another wonderful project. By the way, is that your recording of the Atlanta Rag piano roll? If so, where did you get that roll? Thank you and great job as always!
They are rare! Especially here in MN. I was very lucky to find this one less than 2 hours away.
Good catch on the song! It is indeed the Atlanta Rag from the American Roots Music (A) Roll cut by Meliora Music Rolls. Recorded off my Western Electric shown at the beginning of the video.
@@nateoutsidethevacuum Neat! I didn’t know you had a western electric Nickelodeon. I’ve been looking for that song on a standard piano roll.
Is This The Coinola C Nickelodeon That Played In The Country Store In Mansfield Massachusetts ? If It Is I Have Played It Many Times When I Visited The Store Congratulations Nate And Good Luck And I Cannot Wait To See Videos Of The Restoration Have A Great Sunday Night😊
I don't think so. I think it spent it's working life in Montna.
It is a CX model Coinola.
Screw maps!
Thank you for teaching me the term!
@@nateoutsidethevacuum did I?
That was nice of me 😄
I can't imagine doing a job like this without them.
It's paying it forward to your future self 😁
This is an interesting one, wasn’t familiar with electric pianos. I’ll be sure to stick around. If I want…
No pressure!
@@nateoutsidethevacuum Ayyy. Looking forward to it.
I may have a video of this style machine on my channel, I will keep you posted.
I'd like to know what it's supposed to sound like!
@@nateoutsidethevacuum I have 2 videos of a coinola C or a CO. It has the xylophone plus some drums and some pipes. 1 video plays songs from Oklahoma and the other video of Oliver
Can you get videos of the Coinola at American Treasure Tour with this style case and glass? The one they have there has guts like a model C-2, with pump and roll frame "upstairs" and two drums, cymbal and an upside-down rank of wooden violin pipes "downstairs". I don't know if it's factory original, or someone's buildup of a Coinola C.
@@andrewbarrett1537 I'm going out there tomorrow to set up things for a video we are doing in June. I will see if I can find it.
Trilby Rag?
It's Atlanta Rag by Cow Cow Davenport, which is basically his own "folk" transformation of "Trilby Rag" by Carey Morgan, which dates about 13 years earlier.
Wow. Orchestrion, isnt it?
I'm calling it an Electric Piano which is a term from back in the day. In my opinion Orchestrions have percussion (and usually pipes) which this doesn't.
In Europe, the collectors will certainly call an automatic piano with an extra instrument (like pipes or xylophone) an "orchestrion". But most US collectors reserve that term for an instrument with drums.
@@nateoutsidethevacuum Indeed, thanks
@@andrewbarrett1537 yes, thanks
A superfund site 😂
It was so gross!
