- These are my favorite builds! Vintage dirt bikes take me back in time, the lucky recipient of this bike worked his but off cleaning and polishing parts, he was a huge help and i hope he gets as much enjoyment out of it as i did the ones i had as a kid.. ENJOY LITTLE DUDE !!!
Awesome build, you did excellent restoration. It's always great to see something vintage coming back from the dead.
Great video. Well done pal. 👍
Good to see the old 2strokes saved.😉
It's put a big smile on the young lads face to.😃
BIG 👍
I love motorcycles, but I love more when they are treated well.👍
Made me smile this morning by bringing back memories of my child hood. I had that same bike when I was maybe 9-10years old and absolutely loved it.
Freaking amazing, absolutely amazing!!! Wish I was that kid!!!!!!
Frame off, nothing like bringing an old 2 stroke back to life. Beautiful bike, kick ass lil machines way ahead of their time
Very nicely done. You’ve made that kid very happy.
Wow very nice work and such a fun bike. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more!
Jib well done sir ! That was my dream bike when I was a young feller
Deadly little bike, reminds me of my childhood!
Great video!
I had a friend rebuild a 1985 XR600R. He had access to a sand blaster and used that to strip the painted parts. Kind of messy but very effective at stripping paint and corrosion.... The bike had been ridden in the gulf coast region of Texas. Anyone from that area knows how badly the salt air environment are on mechanical items. He blasted it in California and the bike is still going strong.
what a great build, awesome stuff.
I just watched “Dirt bike kid” few days ago, all this bike needs is twin headlights lol
I remember that film so well for when I was a kid
I wouldn't say it's an absolute highest end restoration, but im sure he wasn't trying to. Now that's out the way absolute cracking job of making an old bike look in excellent usable condition that's looking very clean and fresh. Great video I love the layout love the way the video was filmed bike was done to an excellent Do it yourself shed restoration that was cost effective but still the bike looks amazing. Very impressed 👏
Didn't want to spend too much time and money making it perfect, just giving it to a 15 year old that's going to be tearing up the dirt every day and having fun!
You’re right it’s not an unlimited budget but turned out amazing but if it was he could for sure
@geraldsgarage4100 Exactly Gerald still an amazing job. It's actually better this way then it will get used and not a show queen where nobody wants to scratch it.
@geraldsgarage4100 is still a great restoration no doubt 👌 and may I add with a stock pipe on sounds amazing in the band. Hope you do more motocross bikes and motorcycles your video layout is excellent love the way you make the videos
That was a good watch 👍🏻 I haven’t done one for a couple years last one was a ‘95 RM250. I wish I never sold it 😢
Beautiful job
Great content fellas
My old 80 looked like that when you started the resto lol great little bikes it took a lot of abuse too .
You sure did put a smile on your kid's face. you should sand 800-2500 the tank and polish it. it'll look new.
Is that how they're making the tanks look new? I will definitely try that on the next one!
Man I really enjoyed that, brings back so many good memories, i had a yz80s and a yz80t, the 80’s dirtbikes were my best times, even though ive owned 125’s,250’s and 500’s but being a kid on an 80 was simply the best. Im 52 now and I don’t ride anymore but after watching this video id love to restore one to have in my lounge room. Great job mate 👌
@falconx5744 thank you so much!
@@geraldsgarage4100 Welcome buddy, you did an awesome job and seeing your Son ride it just made it 🥰 Thanks again
The part where Gerald snaps the kick starter with his hand made me Smile
this video made me smile
I'm 61 and i remember that sound well!
Little screamers!
Immediately reminisced of "The Dirt Bike Kid"
Love that two stroke whine. My Dad had a Suzuki GT 750. Four cylinder two stroke water cooled.
I did the exact same thing to my YZ frame painted it red. Awesome video. Brings back memories from 25 years ago.
This is why I love RUclips, thanks for sharing this awesome series, I subscribed
Dude, this one of the coolest video I have ever seen. Thanks for making it.....................................
Thank you all so much for the support and nice comments!!
I raced a 1985-model in my youth. My dad and I stripped it like you did and built it back with the best parts available. It was a rocketship, the guys on 1992 Suzukis ate my dust on the track even though they had a more linear powerband. The YZ was nothing, nothing and BOOM, everything. Great memories of both working with my dad and racing th YZ.
Very nice work!
Awesome video man! I had one of these bikes! My dad got it for me from his friend who ran a junkyard. It was impounded & never picked up. $200
That’s what I call making it look easy 😆looks like a lot of new parts went into the build 🤔
The magic of video editing! lol
Nice video, I have 1984 80cc Yz.
Thanks!
I couldn't help myself when I seen your video! I had to watch it and I'm glad I did! My first 80cc yz was the j model then the k then s, great bikes and great times!! Good job too mate!! 👍
very good video, I have a Kawasaki kx 85!
AWESOME VIDEO ! Thanks for that. Great work.
That’s how a good video is done . No mega loud music and no talking
this is great seeing some one give a old classic 2 stroke bike a second chance!!
She's a beaut Clark 👍
Reminds me of the movie dirtbike kid 👍

Solid job Dad!! Stay awesome dude!
Awesome rebuild! First class job. It’s a little ripper. 😊👍

Epic build 👍🏻
The best dirtbikes style is like 82 to 89 no matte what I like regular folk beautifull bike
First time seeing a entire video of a motorbike restoration. Very cool to see and interesting! Support from France

Me too well impressed loved the layout of the video no messing about. The bike was done by himself in his shed to an excellent cost effective restoration very impressed 👏 👍
Awesome job now it’s ready to take down any old man who rides it 😂.
Damn dude bad ass. It takes a lot of work a lot of know how
The YZ 80 is a legend :)
🤜🤛👍👍👍
Dude my uncle once told me, keep it wet you'll have more fun!👍💯
The bike of Theseus.
After replacing more than 50 percent is it still the same bike
Definitely a good running 80
นายเก่งจริงๆ
Very cool!
Mint bike man
If you removed the gas tank and filled it with water and took a torch it would remove the discoloration. If done correctly it would look almost new again.
Great content 👍
aawsome engine stand sensational
Que vídeo gostoso de assistir, parabéns
great job! i still have my sons old yz50 1980, he's all grown up now with a son of his own....guess what his first bike will be?😄

do you know a good place to buy the front brake assembly at?
I just rebuilt original, you can find aftermarket on line, not as good tho
Nice!
i have the same bike and ive been having problems like it dont start n low compression how much would you take to fix it?
Sorry, I don't work on bikes for a living, just my own stuff
-see if you can push start it. (Down a hill etc, 2 or 3rd gear)
I have four these bikes did you buy a new crank?
Rebuilt with new rod, pin and bearing.
Super ❤❤
Can you rebuild my cr80 for me
Nice vid but why paint the frame red?? Made the 87 look like an 86.
Cuz a 15 yo wanted red and i didn't care
80cc never made sense. Nothing with that small a piston should haul ass like that😂
Right! It's crazy how much power that little bitty piston makes!
👍😬😄😁👌
นายเก๋งจริงชอบนายมาก
I had a YZ 80. Which seized.
Then a KZ125. Followed by a KD250 trials bike.
