The good thing is you can buy the Flir E4 and put the E8 firmware on it and have the same specs. Flir is very dirty with their cameras having the same hardware, but only making the differences in the firmware. Just look of Flir hack or Flir mod.
Home inspectors really should not be using anything less than a flir E4 or comparable with 80x60 4,800 pixel resolution. Most everything below this is practically useless for the scope of a home inspection. Inspectors should look for a E4 hacked to e8 resolution and menu functionality for half the cost of a e8.
We plan on doing a video with the FLIR ONE and we will for sure compare it to this one. The main difference is that this has the spot sensor so you can see the higher temps while the FLIR ONE only has the thermal sensor so maxes out at 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope to bring a video soon
Just to make sure there is no confusion this channel isn’t making us any money right now on RUclips (we are not big enough to have ads). And when we say budget we are referring to the TG165 compared to the E8. The E8 is cheaper then most of FLIRs other products (most costing 12k+). I’m not saying 3K is cheap the E8 wasn’t ours and we didn’t keep the camera but we did buy the TG165 because we could afford that. Our local Home Depot has a few E8’s as rental units. I hope that helps clarify things for you. We appreciate the feedback and comments as we are a small channel. Thanks!
Can you tell me where I can get it for $300CAD? I was looking these last months and usually, I only see them for $350 in special either in Canadian Tire or Amazon
@@flakeu Canadian Tire on sale is usually 349$ on sale, if you're lucky you can get it for 299$ red tag clearance + 50$ off + 24 equal months payment 0 interest

@@urz7481 look it up?
I ran my own Home Inspection company. I used on of the older Flir cameras. They are amazing for finding cold and hot spots.
Curious, why did you stop doing the inspections?
@@biker55555 I was in a car accident and messed my back up. Makes it hard to bend and crawl under homes.
@@timm2020 Oh man, that's terrible! I hope things work out for you in a long run! I am an inspector, so I'm always curious about the subject.
Thanks For Sharing.

It is almost 1/3 the price. I actually just ordered a modded one on eBay.
@@RichardsWorld Thanks for the tip, I just ordered one.

Did you just point laser directly to face? Gladly eyes were not hit.
I've seen a lot of inspectors use the phone module Thermal Imaging. I wonder how those compares to the dedicated handheld ones.
