FUN FACT: In regards to pineapples... As a general rule, it will take anywhere from 16 to 24 months to begin seeing fruits. If you live outside a tropical area or plan on growing your pineapple indoors, it can take longer. The long duration in which for them to grow is because it takes 200 flowers to develop into one fruit. That means every segment you see on the skin of a pineapple was once a flower. It then formed into a berry which then coalesced with other berries from the flowers on the same stalk to form the pineapple you see.
The small town of Phetchaburi is a gem. There are so many beautiful temples and a wonderful market. Plus some good restaurants by a river. It’s one of Thailand’s nicest small towns with some old architecture. And basically no tourists.
I got to say I was very skeptical when he started the Journey on a Honda Dream . Ok she’s had a little touch up now and again , but she’s so easy to work on and the parts are no problem to acquire . He’s proved me wrong so far , good luck to him .
Yes, one needs to consider what basic motorcycle maintenance shops are out there when you’re away from the big cities. Most Thais in rural areas have a “simple” Honda or Yamaha motorcycle for transportation; thus, easier to find parts for when stranded in the countryside.
Had no idea that Phetchaburi was the home of King Rama 4th, we saw the big lit up Budha on the cliff side as we drove through on our way south earlier this year. Very much enjoyed Phetchaburi, especially Cha-am which is just delightful. The sound of the wildlife and birds each morning in this region is the best I've hear worldwide.
If you’re in a rush, sure, smash out a few provinces a day. If not, only do one a day. Find something that’s unique and special to that province and really sell it. Clearly don’t flog a dead horse but Don’t get into the habit of “getting through it”. Remember, it’s a slow travel through the provinces. If you feel like you’re just pushing through then maybe you need to take a day break or recharge your batteries again. 🤙 keep up the good work.
Rama 4 being, of course, King Mongkut who was so misrepresented in the film "The King And I" (still banned in the country). A very interesting and under-recognised figure to non-Thai people.
Pineapple is my alltime favorite fruit , or one of then anyway and knowing how they grow has elevated me to THE NEXT LEVEL ....... thanks Paddy , keep on trucking tiger
That’s very interesting how they extract salt. I love the movie The King and I so I will have to go see his Palace. I wish my Mum was still alive as I use to love to call her and tell her the interesting things I was seeing. O Well, May be she knows. Thanks for a great video.
Hi Paddy thanks for another amazing video - can't wait to do a road trip in Thailand looks amazing - I love the fact the guy had so many fishing rods, although if he caught a big one on the middle road it may get messy LOL !!
Thanks, Paddy, another great tale. I have a recomendation for Kanchanaburi. We have visited Elephant Haven Thailand, twice now. It's one of Elephant Nature Park 's umbrella projects. It's very low key, and you get to meet some wonderful mahoots and their families, oh, and elephants! We stayed at the Kanchanaburi City Hotel. Lovely owners, nice pool, great breakfast! Travel safe, dearheart!
Hiya Paddy, always enjoyable content. Beautiful drone shots. Chilled tunes. Classics too. Good vibes. You cracked me up about the macaque monkeys. They are naughty monkeys. Lol. Thank you for the beautiful tour. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week. Safe Travels. Take care.
Love this Paddy...you make a video they are so personal and your friendliness shines through. Loved the palace of Rama IV ( I believe King Mongkut of 'The King and I' fame). I love Thai history and Thai temples and how different one temple can be from another. Another great video...can't wait until the next one is shown 😉👍
Great video. Dreamy was the star obviously. Apes in Gibraltar also horrible, a guide we had persuaded me to let ape sit on my knee, then she slid off my knee. I tried to stop the ape from falling and she scratched me!! Stay safe. Cath and Kevs x
I have Been studying about the king of Thailand since the early seventhy the king.no.9th Was born in Massachusetts until 11 years old then moved to Switzerland before moving to Thailand after his brother died. I did get to see him before I lived in the united States.
At least there are 15 famous places to see in Petchaburi , from a beautiful beaches with a view of false pine or sugar palm in the rice field to the forest, lake and mountain with the sea of mist at Kaeng Krajarn National Park. Petchaburi also have a famous wooden summer palace of King Rama VI called "Mrigadayavan Palace" located at Chao Samran beach. You've missed so many interesting places in Petchaburi.
You are an honest reporter. How do I know? Because I visited the same cave you did and you did not attempt to embellish the story. Yes, it is indeed dark, not cleaned and almost spooky with the bats. I can also relate to your perspective on things because the first time I saw a pineapple field I felt a quasi excitement.
For Ratchaburi, you have to see Bat mountain - in the evening millions and millions of bats come pouring out of this cave and just turn the sky black. Well impressive.
No coconut cream desserts? They have famous bakers in the town centre. Great place to stay when they have a festival on. Cha'am seafront great too. I think one of the best prov.
Near my parents home in Spain they also have these salt fields. They have different basins where they move the water if it's almost evaporated. So each basin has more salt over water ratio and eventually you have a basin with only big pieces of salt. Could be used for consumption, but the basin in Spain is used for road salt to prevent slippery roads in the winter.
Stalagmites grow from the bottom up. What you were pointing out is indeed a Stalactite, Teeee-Cha! They grow from the top down. Lol All in good fun MATE. All in good fun. 😊
Hey Paddy any suggestions for accommodation? I want to visit this area but all the hotels on maps have no websites or listed prices... Near Kaeng Kra Chan lake. Thanks in advance.
Ok now that you’ve completed Southern Thailand, can’t wait to see where you’ll take us next. But since BKK is so close, I’m wondering whether you’ll put in a few nighs for some urban landscape for a brief change…
Hi Mr PD- I’ve joined your Thailand exploration of the provinces- you’ve just hit 30k subs 👍.Loving your Vids. Are you making your way back to Chang Mai eventually. Cheers from Downunder.
Hahaha, couldn't agree more about those monkey's, we get a similar one where I live called the Vervit monkey, more like Vermin Monkey. All cute and cuddly until they get into your house, absolutely ran sack the kitchen cupboards and then park a deuce on your kitchen counter top just to show you the middle finger, yes lovely little animals! They will also happily take out a puppy or kitten for fun. Think I prefer rats :)
It seems like Paddy got the next level of pineapple field, when my husband heard (from the background) Paddy was talking about how he amazed to see the pineapple plants the first time, my husband said he felt the same thing.
THANK YOU...finally someone agrees with me about MONKEYS ! .....My husband is still laughing that you said that because you have mirrored what I always say ! xx 🇳🇿🇦🇺
He could camp there in the park camping ground beside the reservoir if not closed by COVID. Getting inside the jungle of Kaeng KraChan may be way too much for him.
Petchaburi is a UNESCO World Heritage city for food culture that was announced in 2021 during Covid. I hope people go there for at a least day or two to sample local flavors that you cannot get anywhere else, perhaps on the way down to Hua Hin.
I appreciate your bluntness when encountering certain Thai dishes that are a disappointment. Too many bloggers in Thailand act as if every Thai cuisine is a gastronomical delight. -Even with my ordering the usual “chicken with cashew nut” ( a very basic dish), there seems to be various ways to prepare it.
Ive been to both places (the kings palace & the salt fields). My wife's from petchaburi.. Im not sure if its accurate to say this but i thought the Interior decor of the Kings Palace looked to have quite alot of european influence. and when i was there the endless salt fields havent formed into the salt rocks yet.. they were just semi-dried into white powder with a thin layer of water above laying on the square fields. The most upsetting thing about this whole video is Paddy dissing glass noodle salad; they are 1 of my favourite thai dishes lol. There is a real famous noodle shop in petchaburi though with quite a long waiting time (i waited for 40 mins).. but im not sure about the post-covid crowd
Now it’s the rain season so they aren’t harvesting the salt. They pour it at the start of the dry season and then collect it throughout the dry months.
Hey Paddy, im really surprised that you just recently experienced your first taste of durien and finally figured out where pinapples come from!😀 You really need to get out of the tourist areas and see the real Thailand 555! But seriously, love your videos, have fun, and when you get to Pattaya maybe youll be ready for a cold beer! Ill gladly enjoy one with you! Take care, stay healthy and enjoy your trip😀
Paddy, do you use any filters on your Spark camera? I know time of day hugely affects the look of aerial footage, but MAN the colors of some of your drone shots, of distant mountains, etc, are so vibrant!
Phetchaburi is such a great town. This was the first place I had Banana Flower Salad, many years ago.Do you agree Rama 4 was a very small man?The furniture in his bedroom is tiny isn't it?
I continue to be amazed at how you seem to always avoid crowds wherever you go. How do you always end up in temples by yourself? Beautiful area once again! Btw..I love glass noodles. Have some proper sukiyaki when you end up in Japan one day.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ love Dreamy

Sadly Paddy did not do Phetchaburi Town justice ... he could have at least taken Dreamy for a little ride around
This could be the best advert Honda has ever had! Dreamy is killing it 💪
Yeah to be honest, if we end of moving there for a bit, I’m gonna look into buying one. 👍🏻👍🏻
I got to say I was very skeptical when he started the Journey on a Honda Dream . Ok she’s had a little touch up now and again , but she’s so easy to work on and the parts are no problem to acquire . He’s proved me wrong so far , good luck to him .

RecommenDavid 😂👌🏼 Love it. Word of the day.
FYI if you take the top spikey green part of the pineapple and just plant it, in about 2 years ( yes 2 years) you will get a pineapple. That easy.😊
Love your video's !! ❤️👌🏽🙂👌🏽😀
There are a lot of aeroplane restaurants in Thailand now ! 🇬🇧 🇹🇭
King Rama 4 was the one in "The King and I"

Pineapple farm. There was a huge one I hear by me in Palm Beach Florida. Mr. Morokami from Japan. Bought land in Boba Reston (Rats Mouth)
Miss Phra Nakhon khiri palace.
Up at 4?! Sh*t, I am! Might as well check out Phetchaburi with Paddy and Dreamy
I had the same feeling when I discovered Pineapple in its natural hebitat. Happened to me in Meghalaya, India.
No coconut cream desserts? They have famous bakers in the town centre. Great place to stay when they have a festival on. Cha'am seafront great too. I think one of the best prov.
Hope you and your postie bike makes it up to Kohn Kaen ond day . My shout out for meal and drinks 😉

Very true
Now it’s the rain season so they aren’t harvesting the salt. They pour it at the start of the dry season and then collect it throughout the dry months.
They are table salt. You can find stalls on the roadside selling them but I guess covid time they are closed.
Paddy my Buddha, Beethoven,,, cmon, you need to get back on the beer,😜👍

None
The kings palace was awesome, but somehow I think you are obliged to say it is as well
Phetchaburi is such a great town. This was the first place I had Banana Flower Salad, many years ago.Do you agree Rama 4 was a very small man?The furniture in his bedroom is tiny isn't it?
You should try some more glassnoodle salads, gong ob wonsen, yam wonsen😏 don't hate the glassnoodles they are sacred😜
