Hi Paddy, That type of durian called Pa la-u, it's a local durian of Prachuabkirikhan that quite expensive one. You should try durian "Mon-Thong" the popular and common one in Thailand and the cheapest as well. Most of Thai people love to eat the fresh durian that crunchy outside but soft inside and very light smell but some love half ripe durian which still taste good. Do not buy a too ripe durian or a frozen durian cause it's mushy, very strong smell and leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Watching this video 2 years later and yes, we can cringe at covid. Thank you Paddy, I love to come back and watch your videos. I'm so happy to be living back in Thailand now and you kept me sane for the 3.5 years I was gone.
I absolutely appreciate you for sharing your road trip with us I myself was born in Bangkok I have not seen Thailand for more than fifty years My home town is lem khlong samsam makkasan district ratchathew Bangkok. I only lived in Bangkok for twenty years and I don't know the outside of the city until I have watched your young man videos that is how I learned about the whole country of Thailand. I absolutely appreciate you for your hard work.
You eating the durian was cracking me up. "I don't like it".. Takes another bite. "I don't know..."... Scrunches nose. Takes another bite. "tastes like glue". "would I eat it again? Yes". 😂😂😂
I was given a slice of cake at a birthday party, unknowingly it was Duran. First time I ever heard or tasted it. I immediately spit it out on the plate. Everyone had a good laugh at my expense. It was truly nasty to me.
Hiya Paddy, always enjoyable, beautiful content. You crack me up. Haha. I love your humor. Cool tunes. Good vibes. Beautiful drone footage. I am on that health kick too. You feel mentally clearer when you are not drinking and eating cleaner. Great video. Thank you for sharing. I love watching your adventures. Congratulations. On 30k subscribers. Well deserved. Here's to many more. Have a great weekend. Safe travels. Take care.
I met my Thai lady in Hua Hin one of our first dates was a day in the hills and lunch at monsoon. Now live in Isaan with her. I'm not fussed about Durian prefer mango & pineapple, both taste wise & baht wise🇹🇭
I agree -we’ll look back puzzled with the “logic”with some of the Covid restrictions…close the restaurant and shopping malls & grocery stores a couple hours earlier as if Covid comes out only at night…or some beaches, parks are closed ( depending on the city or province); yet, it’s ok to be packed on the Skytrain or be shopping. Outdoor venues should be open as long everyone is social distancing.
We've been to Hua Hin many times, but never travelled that far west into the mountains. After seeing your gorgeous drone shots of the area, we'll have to check it out next time we're in that area of Thailand!. Happy travels! Gar and Ann
I’m so inspired that you’re on a mission to lose weight. I went on a mission and reached my goal and now staying steady. From over 200 LBS down to 185, and dang it feels so good to be slim. I like my self again, haha. So keep up the good job. just remember you’re not alone, as you’re heading toward you’re finish line … we are cheering for you . Wooo hooow, go Paddy, go !
had some Durian today. got one here for €32 - Morn Tong. it was heaven. ripe and sweet and creamy - first time is always a no.. tasted like a sweet microwaved onion... then boom your hooked . See if you can get the top dog - Gan Yao Durian. its sooo good
I think many of us are just so glued to your channel and eagerly await for the next video. And thanks for the a minute or two motivation to lose weight. It would be good to slip this 100-day regime in future videos. Been sharing yr vids with friends and they liked them.
Hello Paddy, you are looking good, you are clearly looking healthy and happy smart man so continued enjoying the time of living life,we’re going to support you forever .
1- Your videos are getting better and better. 2- Hino is a Japanese brand of trucks. 3- Congrats for your 100 day challenge! You can do it! But still, enjoy life and eating. A beer from time to time is permitted :) 4- The drone views are amazing, there is so much green to look at, it is peaceful. 5- Your choice of music is always excellent, especially the soft ones, the jazzy ones. They are relaxing and help focus on the views. More extended views please. Also, the girls singing on the boat the other day was an incredible moment and it's great that it was not cut! The sunset views were gorgeous. 6- I look forward to the next episode. Cheers from Canada!
My wife’s parents have been selling durian for over 20 years now. She said especially this year new sellers have popped up out of nowhere. Quality will suffer. Takes experience to know when it’s just the right time for it to be eaten!
Ha ha ... That's your funniest video that I've seen so far Paddy ... I think you might have a few warm beers hidden under your "I'm not drinking" bicycle seat! (-: However you did miss your Mark Wien WOW WOW WOW comedic opportunity when eating a Durian for the first time ... Maybe on the blooper reel
The consistency of durian is like a cross between mangos and avocado. Not every durian taste the same either, so maybe you got one that is not fully ripen. I think you got the westerner price for the durian, especially for a small one too.
Hi Paddy Enjoying your work! Checked out the Monsoon Valley winery website, very cool! Stuck in Australian really appreciate your channel its my holiday at home!
We live in a very busy tourist town and your ventures to places that might be closed when you get there with no way of knowing are a breath of fresh air. 👍
That seems like a lot for a Durian from a farm Patty. I like Durian but it is expensive. We pay about the same in the USA about 15 to 20 dollars for one.
Enjoyed the vlog Paddy! Yes, your facial expressions said it all: “you don’t like eating durian” 😂 and it’s ok😉 Trust me, it could taste & smell a bit funky 😱 I’m glad that you know yourself and decided to not drink for 💯 days! Fair play to you and I’m going to join you on this 💯 days of zero alcohol 🍷 🍺🍹🥃🍾 It’s going to be hard especially when 4th of July is a couple of days away:( lots of food & booze here in the USA! Again thanks for a great video and look forward to seeing more 😊
Well I have to say for wanting to stay in one place for awhile, you have picked a winner in my book! Plus, we get to hear you say 'Prachuap Khiri Khan' which for some reason just cracks me up. Not sure why. 😂 The birds at the winery.... Fantastic! And I love the switch between the nice calm, soothing music to the fast, fun song that you chose whilst you were driving... Nice work! 😁 Durian.... Watching someone try something for the first time, especially when you know they probably won't like it - priceless. 😆 Cheers! 🥳🐓☺️
I love your videos, your explorations... especially in the mountains ! Wonderful video... zen outing and exploration - thank you so much Paddy 🤗 .... Were you successful with your 100 days - with eating and drinking healthy back then ? 😉
Monsoon actually have a voucher that has lots of good discounts if a regular. We go there for the view and change of scenery and in general the food is great (much better than the wine). Another nice video Paddy.
I’ve never tried Durians either. Looking to try. Me and my Wife saw Duran Duran in Ft. Lauderdale two years ago. Like the song Paper Gods. If that was Florida that probably would have been Fire Ants in you helmet. That never crossed my mind about ants getting in my helmet. Thanks for the Heads Up. As for the price of the Durian, well your a good Ambassador, you just have to smile. I’ve got 45 days till I get there to Pattaya and out of ASQ. I’ve stopped the wine, am running every day and am eating healthy as well.
Durian wrapped in puff pastry leafs baked for 20 min is heavenly, it caramelizes and the texture gets more custardy. Once I defrosted an imported durian and forgot about it until the smell reminded me after a few days,..it was the opposite of heavenly I can confirm..
After all this time , I just figured out that you remind me of the late great actor Dudley Moore 🤣 I think it’s awesome your taking better care of your health !
15:30 A packet that size should be about 150 baht. It's not cheap, but it's not that expensive. That said, the farmers will be desperate. It's been a hell of a year. A "Thao rai?" right at the start might have saved you.
Paddy write that book, use your own, make it a love story, you fell in love with a Brazilian lady, use that wonderful experience to tell the story of Thailand, make sure it includes every aspect of the wonderful Thai experience 😊
Congrats on your first (and perhaps last) durian. Yea, Patty Doyle! I personally like blue cheese so I like durian, but just like stinky cheese, it's not for everyone. I would recommend durian ice cream instead of the fruit for a first attempt. The price they quoted is a bit high. I get frozen durian at the Asian grocery store in USA for about $10 and there are more pieces than what you got. Usually I eat durian in its frozen form. The creamy mouthfeel makes sense that it should be eaten as an ice cream.
You can see it in your face the water loss from cleaning up the diet. Well done sir. I've switched to 95%+ of my calories are vegan (started 1.5 years ago) and ice never felt better. I do crave meat at times but rarely indulge. Great job!!!
Try durian ice cream Paddy - you will soon be addicted. So proud of you giving the booze away. I haven't had a drink for five months and six days. It isn't always easy (especially in Australia and/or travelling) but it's so cool to wake up every morning feeling healthy.
11:40 A kid from the Philippines brought in wavers that were 5% durian to my college. It set off the gas alarms. Everyone complained of the stench. They thought they had a gas leak. 5%. In a manufactured, boxed biscuit.
It might be more about the Military Coup in Burma than Covid, great video as usual. I was in the service for 25 years and believe it or not one of the things I miss the most is routine.
Great to hear you're taking better care of your health Paddy. I hope you meet up with Jonny's mate (and fellow youtuber) Esquire unlimited when you get to Pukhet. He's a master of staying super healthy while having a lot of fun.
Dear Paddy! Thanks again for a lovely video. I wonder Paddy, if you would be interested in creating 1 video with just aerial shots and music? a beautiful aerial video of 30 minutes showing us Thailand from the sky? I think it can be a great idea and I truly believe people (=me! LOL) will really enjoy watching something like that. Of course each clip will have the name of the place, est. Thank you and good luck!! :-)
Good on you for trying Durian. LOL I have tried it with Jib a few times, I hated the first time, and after the 4th time having it I didn't mind it. But yeah, the flavor and texture are... unique.
15:18 Love the smile on the Durian seller when he sells you Durian to his tourist price. OMG 375 baht for 1.5 KG, he must be laughing all the way to the bank. Don’t know where you’re getting it but I am loving the music choices lately.
Come back to Thailand Paddy and start riding around the provinces again like this.
This is what we wanna see buddy.
Pondering a quandary is one of life's greatest pleasures. 😁
I think dreamy will eventually be like Triggers broom in Only Fools And Horses 😂
This old broom…….
"Owned for 40 years, she's had six engines and four frames".
Paddy, durian is great! It's just very hard to find the right "dealer". Once you find one, you are hooked!
My wife’s parents have been selling durian for over 20 years now. She said especially this year new sellers have popped up out of nowhere. Quality will suffer. Takes experience to know when it’s just the right time for it to be eaten!
Good for you Paddy! I've been walking and drink lots of water. The winery looks perfect for a date❤️

I like Wing5 in Prachuap, good spot for a family holiday with kids, good food, monkeys and loads of stuff around to explore, and cheap

Thank you for sharing I lived in Hua Hin long time ago now miss Hua Hin very much, possible my final destination is Pranburi 😊
Great to hear you're taking better care of your health Paddy.

So weird.... I was thinking the exact same thing the other day
@@PaddyDoyle. great minds think alike
Good on you for trying Durian. LOL I have tried it with Jib a few times, I hated the first time, and after the 4th time having it I didn't mind it. But yeah, the flavor and texture are... unique.
You need to try Musang King that’s the real deal
15:18 Love the smile on the Durian seller when he sells you Durian to his tourist price. OMG 375 baht for 1.5 KG, he must be laughing all the way to the bank. Just so you know the going rate for Durian in most parts of Thailand is 120-150 baht/kg (depending on the season) and if you buy Durian at the farms is only 80-100 baht/kg or less. Only in Bangkok, you will find prices as high as you just paid. But as long as you enjoyed it and the farmer is happy then all good. Welcome to Thailand :)
Ahhh, what a cute lil goat :}}
I like durian because of its sweet and creamy taste, especially when it is fully ripe. Of course, it's stinky to many people, but others find it sweet and richly scented. Durian, the king of tropical fruits, is truly polarising.
Paddy, I was laughing hard when you were making faces LOL....hey you ever run out of gas?
Great vlog as usual, Thanks Paddy, BTW Hino trucks is owned by Toyota
The best place on earth
Loved the winery
My favorite fruit Durian it's very yummy
You are inspirational love love 💜
Love the COVID / 7/11 monologue was funny. 🙏🏻
You don‘t look fat to me - but props to your efforts and motivation! You‘re doing great. I might even try to tackle along, seeing that I‘ve got similar issues when it comes to fitness and bellies :)
