I don't want to sound rude or anything, but in the citation in 5:57 it does state for what type of weapons is used for. That being the Mars Tellurian pattern MK 2-3 lascarbine. (this was brought to my attention by a third party associate from poland.)
Yeah, gauging the power of a typical lasgun by strictly 40k lore leaves you lost because it's description has never stayed consistent. It can be handwaved as different patterns having different settings by default with quality control in make and material being non existant. Thus the inconsitancy leaves the question of can its effects be applied with real physics? If yes, figure out how. If the how is just as cool or cooler than the lore description, then apply the cooler part. If not, just go with it and don't think too hard about it.
