The glue on the security tags would give a good indication of the age of the DVD
& of course that old school plastic dvd smell us collectors know to well are also good indicators of age
Steven LaPierre wow you should be one of those experts on Pawn Stars to come in and check a DVDs authenticity lol! Thanks for the tip I never thought of that!
Yeah man it does look legit. Never seen a pressed bootleg on a regular Dvd. They usually are all different colors. The art work looks solid usually see pixels in artwork or especially letting. Think you got the real deal man
Felt like i just watched a kid open a dvd case for the first time. Use a razor blade or good ol fashion finger nail.
Awesome video dude. I really liked this very different but visually striking and Merhige went on to direct Shadow of the Vampire. But what ever happen to him though he was expected to be the next big thing.
Dope. I bought the VHS in 2003...
Awesome video as always dude! I had my fingers crossed for you throughout the entire video. I think the booklet disc pretty much did it for me and told that it's a legit copy, just like you mentioned in the video who would make a booklet like that just for a bootleg. I heard in the horror goup on facebook that you got it for a very good price as well. In another horror related group on facebook (a Swedish group) this Movie was for up on an auction and it went for crazy money 2500 Swedish Crowns which is about 285 dollars).
You got the official legitimate release. Because in all sealed copies the booklet was included. On the official DVD when you look at the bottom side in the circle you will see Begotten engraved and also on the legitimate DVD you should see also Cat #VWA1136, Begotten C1989, 2001 World Artistys Home Video. I also own that release. The catalog number is also correct. There are also scammers that are letting people pay too much for a bootleg. One advice, always ask the seller for pictures of the backside of the DVD and also the DVD itself.
I also have a copy of this and asked around for pointers. Apparently you can tell a copy is legit if it comes with the booklet and the un-printed inner ring of the disc has the "frosted" look, and yours has both.
I think my copy is a bootleg :/ oh well, still cool to have in my collection.
Where was Begotten first shown? Was it in a DVD? VHS? Cinema?
So, If I find a VHS copy would be like the holy grial?
I've never seen this film, but thought it looked interesting. Thanks for posting.
LIght And Shadow Cinematic Musings you would love it!
Great!!!
Thanks!
Looks real to me man...I might add it to my collection how much did you pay and who did you get it from?
apparently they say the authentic disc. on it says Non playable side dummy written on the label side of the ring.
NECROBLOOD666 at first I thought you were calling me a dummy lol I checked the disc and it said exactly that! Thanks for the tip! Glad to know I got the real deal!
oh no dude lol! i enjoy watching your channel and no problem i also have the same dvd of betgotten i got mine years ago before it went out of print. and i also have it on vhs which you can still get but it's expenisve but keep up the good work cheers!
NECROBLOOD666 thank you so much!
It's a hard to tell with this one brother. It's often bootleged on DVD and VHS. So it becomes hard to figure out what's legit, and what's not.
It looks legit. I will say that I had the 2001 release (I have since sold it) and was kind of mad that the official release was in a box that was slightly bigger than the other cases on my shelf.
I have both variations of the originals and bought them brand new from the company years ago. The one you have definitely seems to be a legit copy.
I just recently got a Begotten DVD that claims it is the real deal.
Can you may confirm that one of the variations have a blue/greenish World artist Video Logo on the spine bottom ?
Cause there is currently a discussion in a group about it being legit.....
The DVD comes with the booklet and it is a pressed disc and on the flipside it also has Begotten engraved on the inner circle
@@thrashinmosh4260 I can confirm this one you described is the legit copy. I have it too.
I just got a real copy at the cgary horror con for $25, they had another one as well it's not hard to find
It's a real copy not a bootleg and it's oop as well.
There is a copy of this on Amazon. It says rogue video.
I recently saw it on Amazon... stay away! It’s a bootleg!
Fuck eBay just go to Amazon. Great movie though.
I’ve never seen this film, is there any reason why it’s regularly faked? Is it rare or something?
It’s goes anywhere from $50-$200 on eBay. I scored my copy for $20. Also I have seen a few people on RUclips that have gotten ripped off buying DVDs claiming to be real but are just bootlegs
ShockExtreme1 Huh, I might see if I can get a copy.
I got my copy today on ebay for $45 incl. shipping to Germany and it's the original legit copy that costs over $200 or even $350 on Amazon.
Haha I found this years ago in a free pile of cd/tape/dvds on the sidewalk near my apartment.
Begotten is one trippy movie!
To me, Begotten was like the illustrations from Alvin Schwartz’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark we’re in a horror movie! Very twisted, but extremely fascinating to look at!
