I used to watch Dave Allen in the 80's with my dad,he was absolutely brilliant and so funny, his jokes were amazing,I'm 64 now,I still love watching him, what an amazing Gentleman he was
As a young lad I watched Dave Allen's shows without fail. He pioneered the type of humour that was taken from everyday life/events and made them funny. There have been very few comedians that have matched his wit. There have plenty that have emulated him but none to the same standard... in my opinion. Loved him. 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻🇦🇺
Dave was head and shoulders above his peers. It doesn't date and is still funny and incisive. When I was a lad his TV show was a don't miss event every week.
I am a Chinese. I have been sitting here for 3 hours with none stop laughing! he is so so so so funny. even though I can't get all the funny points. but what I understood is nearly killing me for laughing already! he is amazing! he is the best! live the sketches he did! '
Dave Allen is the comedian from my youth that I miss the most. There was no one quite like him then or now. He was an urbane, even droll, observer of modern life's iniquities and absurdities. He also drew on a deep well of anger towards the received wisdoms and stifling conformity of the institutions that he grew up with, in particular, the Catholic church. These sletches are a delight. Time has made them less daring perhaps. But we have people like Dave Allen to thank for that.
absolutely brilliant , me and the mrs laughed so hard all night and had stomach cramps and tears , one of our favourite comedians of all time, he is a comical genius , r.i.p.
I was brought up in a Roman Catholic home with the Sacred Heart picture over the fire place. However, when Dave Allen was on we all watched him. My late parents thought he was hilarious. Religion, religion can be funny.
My brother and me when we stayed at our grans, we would watch dave Allen and laugh, my gran and us would love to watch him, God knows what he would make of today's world, has anyone made that time machine yet😢
all ways brilliant and funny throughout the years,so many have said remembering watching it when young with their parents as did I! now here today again watching him with my 87 year old mum still both howling with laughter. timeless genius!
Year 2019, 20 years of age, not even from Ireland... and I can still relate to the stylish humor portrayed by him. What a legendary comedian. In the words of Dave, may his God be with him wherever he is. Wishing good health for all of us audience who miss him 🥃
POSTED earlier on another Download, but bears repeating ... I first saw Mr. (Dave) Allen [and Benny Hill] when I was in the Military on a 45 day TDY to RAF Mildenhall England, Crewing the SR-71 out of Beale AFB Ca. In 1978. I was AMAZED at the Humor and Genius of his Satirical Commentary; and to my total and utter dismay, never saw either show again for over a decade or more, and though “Benny Hill” made it’s way to America via “PBS” as did MANY Other GREAT British Shows (Too Many to Name; and I LOVE Them ALL; even to the resent Airing of “Downton Abbey”!) I Never saw “Dave Allen” again, for nearly 35 years; But I NEVER Forgot his Persona or Talent; It wasn’t until I stumbled onto “RUclips’ that I was re-acquainted with this English (IRISH) GEM! It IS Now my MISSION in life to “Watch Every Show” of Mr. Allen that I can find on the Internet, too at long last enjoy his Wit, Wisdom and keen Social Observations that I have missed but NEVER forgotten for nearly 40 years! (RIP Mr. Allen; from a Yank that Never FORGOT You!) and to those that try to compare George Carlin to Dave Allen; He had NOTHING on Mr. Allen, and I grew up on 'G. Carlin' in the late 60's & 70's (Hippy Dippy Weather Man, Class Clown & 'The 7 Words') He Never had Dave Allen's CLASS!!!
Dear Dave Allen… As funny as the first time I laughed at these sketches and, as you’re gone, you can’t be ‘cancelled’. Well done, you got away with it all!
He was on the hit list of that well known Christian terror group the IRA for mocking the paedophile riddled Roman Catholic Church. All churches and religion should be mocked out of existence because history will prove they are all founded on superstition, lies and brutal thuggery. He was a devout atheist just like me.
They weren't true Christian's who persicuted people. They used it as an excuse. None of them had given their life to Christ. Christianity is not a religion but a relationship. God said. You shall bow down to engrave image. You should not pray to Mary, saints and angels. The Pope can't forgive sin. Nor can he make a person a saint.
I remember watching Dave Allen in Canada in the 70's and 80's. HILARIOUS back then and now! I should've realized it can be found right here all this time! ❤👊😆
I miss him so. Used to see him on Swedish TV back in the 70's. I must have been like 15, 16 years. Doomsday preacher to his flock: "And there will be a terrible, terrible gnawing of teeth." Old toothless lady in the flock: "But father I don't have no teeth." Doomsday preacher: "Teeth will be provided." Delivered as only Dave could deliver. You all know what I mean.
Irishman 🍀🍀🍀Dave Allen July 6.1936-----March 10.2005🙏🙏🙏..Very sadly missed comic actor and narrator of life ..This world was just a fleeting show for Dave's illusion given👍👍..R.I.P until the next time😆😆😆
I remember when I was in H.S. there used to be his comedy show "Dave Allen at Large". I guess it was around 1970. It was a good funny show and probably introduced me to that genre of humor. Also around that time there was also comedy show by Marty Feldmen. And then in college was Monty Python. So I'm glad to see Dave Allen here on RUclips to enjoy. Plus I like the way he makes fun of religion.
12:00 Ten pound note sketch was filmed in Ruislip corner of ducks hill road and reservoir road. the lido garage has gone and the cafe closed but it's still recognisable
Since i've watched "Dave Allen at Peace" with Aidan Gillen.Searched for Dave Allen works and i really loved it.Surely he was a master of my favorite type of comedy, a comedy that involves social criticism to humanity but with a real humor being really funny. They are so funny that even Dave Allen himself can not bear to laugh. And Aidan Gillen divinely played his character even more dramatically, showing that however much he may be a professor in comedy and the art of social criticism, he was a human being who was born, grew, lived, aged and gone to the wind. this was well elaborated, mainly thanks to the performance of Aidan Gillen. Congratulations Aidan Gillen for another brilliant development of his talent. And may the heavens have Dave Allen for his influence on comedy in future generations and a unique and intelligent talent to bring joy to the tedious, dumb adults of mankind. PS: In the script for "Dave Allen at Peace" should have included in the monologues of Aidan Gillen this joke at 3:12 until 3:19.
@Ruby Badilla for me was Steptoe & Son, however my favourite has always been Dave Allen, love his irreverent humour, saw this man in live show in NZ, with his drink & ciggie, never laughed so much. RIP Dave, and thanks for the years of laughter.😍👍💖
@@katerinakempb8217 Life is so serious today and it seems there is little to laugh about. I am glad that I found Dave Allen who I remembered watching so long ago, and now that I am old and use technology, can laugh with him whenever I want to....sad to discover he died too young.
I would after disagree Ronnie baker was the greatest with Dave a close second and like I grew up on these comedians vintage years also with Eric and Ernie and benny hill
I once chatted with a guy who had been an air steward for British Airways. He told me their policy when a celebrity was aboard was to treat them like anyone else. Dave Allen was on a flight from London to Manchester. At Manchester airport an impromptu trade union meeting was called. They became aware that Dave Allen was on the periphery and he asked if he could listen in. After thirty minutes the meeting ended and he said, "Thank you." Explaining that had been the first time in ages that he had been able to just sit with a group of people without somebody asking him to tell a joke or, "Do the Murphy voice for us!"
+JIBRAEEL JUZULI Every body like funny jokes BUT not the religion jokes if it is Christian, Muslim, or Hiddu, KEEP RELIGION ON ONE SIDE. I am sure know he is in the hell .
This was filmed at Ruislip. I knew the Punch & Judy cafe because when I was on the buses in London the route I drove on used to go to Ruislip Lido and we used to use the cafe on the odd occasion.
I'm glad i grew up with this . Absolutely brilliant ❤❤❤❤ A comedy genius.
Dave Allen was very popular in Australia.
One of the best comedians ever!!!!!! A pity they don't make them like this anymore!
''THEY'' can't. he was UNIQUE. I bet Dave has them in stitches in Heaven.
You can say that again the best ever by far God Bless you Dave.xx
Some try and copy but don't match his humour.
@@paulanthony5274 that is so true no comedian is even close to Dave Allen l miss him

Plus he had great hair!
Fully agree. Forever brilliant, forever missed
Dave Allen was a hit in North Texas, back in the day on PBS. TYVM for the reminder!
Dave was head and shoulders above his peers. It doesn't date and is still funny and incisive. When I was a lad his TV show was a don't miss event every week.
I genuinely met him and made a total arse of myself, and he was in hysterics!
I am a Chinese. I have been sitting here for 3 hours with none stop laughing! he is so so so so funny. even though I can't get all the funny points. but what I understood is nearly killing me for laughing already! he is amazing! he is the best! live the sketches he did! '
Congratulations, I'm pleased you enjoyed his humour. A lot of it is very visual, regardless of language.

He was great, handsome, witty, creative, funny, ....a legend...the great... Dave Allen! God bless him, Ireland....and...may your God go with you! 😉
Saw him at Newcastle City Hall in 1987, on stage for almost 4 hilarious hours. Simply brilliant.
