      Thanks for watching! It's a pretty good deal for now I hope the pioneer licence sticks around

      @@takerefuge3d indeed; i've never used substance, and my needs right now are pretty basic but i'm very comfortable with node workflows through blender, so this could be ideal for me; thanks again

    Is it as user intuitive though? Can it do as much? I'm not a massive fan of nodes and much prefer the way Photoshop handles layers

      In terms of being intuitive, I didn't have to consult a tutorial to make this material, but I'm used to substance designer so it was familiar. I think I'm terms of making a texture from scratch is more intuitive to use nodes, but layering is more useful for blending textures or texturing a mesh.
      Which this software also does, is like 5 software's in one so it has that photoshop/substance painter liike functionality as well I just haven't had the time to test that part out yet!

      It isn't like Substance Designer is intuitive either. I'm always amazed at the networks people build but I get lost in 5 minutes. Substance Painter, is much more your style I think but the equivelant of that wasn't shown in this video

      @@JohnVanderbeckI haven't tried the painting features yet in all honesty, but I really think designer like anything is muscle memory, I'm not a pro designer user or anything but the fact that I could pretty much pick up from What I do know from having used it a few years in and out of designer, was pretty cool with this, the only thing I found a bit tricky with this at first was reading the grayscale as it looks different the black and white maps look alot crunchier in this then they do in substance which led to a few mistakes but overall it was pretty easy to translate. I only learned substance by meticulously following other graphs to start with and my knowledge is quite mid.

      @@JohnVanderbeck I'd only ever purchase Substance Painter so I guess I haven't seen what you can do in that regard in this program yet.
      Just nodes confuse me so much

      The pioneer licence is free, with T's and Cs it may not be that way for ever and you should definately check if you're comfortable with the terms.
      I would be disappointed if they removed the free version after early access, but time will only tell.

      @@takerefuge3d yeah, sorry, I was watching it from a company point of view, it's kind of hard to be a -serious- company and earn less than 250'000$ a year, for that the price tag is relatively high, it's 4000+$ a year for 25 licenses, which is a lot of licenses, maybe if you combine characters and env texture artists you probably reach that number.
      The price it's really close to Substance but Substance is the industry standard.

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  7 месяцев назад

      That's a really good point, and I didn't consider it and as a hobbiest that makes a few thousand tops a year from digital products its a really good deal. I also own all the texturing products for substance aswell so mm sitting from a different position than others.
      I guess the instamat team have their work cut out for them in regards to convincing companies to adopt it into existing pipelines.

    Absolutely bullshit. Nothing is better than substance

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  7 месяцев назад +8

      Spend a few days with it! I agree Substance is the current king but they will have to do something impressive to get me to fork out another 700 aud+ for designer, sampler and painter.
      This is a serious contender and I'm saying that as someone who's been using substance since 2017!

      Sir, I object. MAT objectively dominates the vastly inferior "substance designer".
