    Life is not still
    It marches relentlessly onwards
With the single mindedness of a
    destructive child
    Hell-bent on breaking something,
    anything.
    Life is not still
    It throbs and pulsates
With the timeless rhythm of an
    ancient drum,
Insisting that we dance even on
    weary, aching feet.
    Life is not still
But sometimes it sleeps, like the seed of
    a delicate flower
Cocooned in the earth beneath a blanket
    of snow.
    Life is not still.
It crashes and heaves and retreats and crashes again
    onto the shore
Leaving a messy tangle of flotsam
    in its wake.
    Life is not still.
But there is stillness to be found
    In hidden pockets and
    secret corners.
    And in that stillness,
    crouching in the darkness,
    awaiting discovery,
    is Joy. ❤

@@k3n.clothtales Thank you for this, your poem is one to keep. I had a thought - the poem you couldn't read to the camera because of copyright laws - could you have filmed the page and included it in the video? That way it can't be classed as a performance. Also, many writers do say in their books that their work can be used for performances /other. Does YT have a blanket ban to cover every possibility? I hope you're surviving the strong winds and heavy rain , you're more south westerly than here, so probably more affected than I am. Time for a sachet cappuccino and then get down to the household chores. Keep safe. UK. E♥️

Thank you, Kathryn, for all the beautiful and real parts of your life and your self that you share with us here! I admire your generosity and courage for doing so. You lifted my spirits a notch this morning which was just enough. And I found some extra enjoyment in drawing leaves outdoors, playing with my darling cat, and doing a little crochet practice trying my hand at copying the linen stitch which you expertly demonstrated.
I loved your poem that you shared, not in a judging way, but for the internal explanation and use of words. I used to do that, write poetry, years ago. I liked what you said about using it as an alternate way to investigate one's own inner landscape. Sometimes stream of consciousness journaling is so direct and personal, for me, that I end up destroying it in time rather than leave it to be read by others should something happen to me... especially if I'm being critical of others.
Anyway, I loved the snowy walk with you and Stella.
Hugs from a Southern California friend💖☮️😸🧶🎨🍁🌲🐾

Beautiful poem, K3n, Brava! It brought to mind a verse I use at work sometimes:
The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops and yet it lingers on in sweet refrain.
For every joy that passes something beautiful remains.

Everything in this visit was something of great interest to me. I had to book mark it in my crochet folder, and book mark it in home décor, as your valance was so beautiful and the arrangement on the shelf just accented beautifully all the aspects in the valance with the colors, themes, and natural aspects. It inspired me to consider more ways I can work with the places in my décor where I have commercial items that have no story. A book mark for the slow stitch file to remind me to come back to study your valance. I know what you mean about the glee of the first snow. Sometimes the grand kids are here then, to cover for me. We don't get enough of it to be tiresome. Finally, thanks again for letting us tag along to the art exhibition. My favorite was the same one you liked with the colors. Your poem was the cherry on top, and pleased you were willing to share it with us, as it was beautiful expression of my feelings as well. Warm hug.

Hello k3n and fur babies. Loved the artist exhibit, your walk, the crochet, and the beautifully poignant poem. Life ebbs and flows in ways we will never know the end or the detours. Beauty and joy can always be found in the vastness of darkness or hidden beneath our feet. I love poetry as well and thought I'd write a book one day....that was 20 years ago and it is still not near completion but the title is "A Butterfly Emerges". Maybe before I reach 70 I'll get that off my bucket list. Have a marvelous weekend. LJ in the heat of NM but high dessert.

I always enjoy your videos and I'm finally getting the hang of some of the stitches. I love the feeling I get when I hand stitch. I think of my female ancestors and often feel a closeness to them as I sew. I have several pieces my Greatmother made and my Great Aunt. Thank you so much for this lovely video and for reading your wonderful poem. I enjoy doing lots of different craft but crochet has always passed me by … until now. I really liked the crochet pattern you demonstrated and will be playing this video over and over while I practise. Can’t wait yo shrink a few jumpers! Thank you for being you ❤

Your videos NEVER disappoint- always such a gentle joy to watch & listen to you.I had started writing down words that spoke to me for whatever reason a few years ago and then later found out it's a thing- common place books. It is a very lovely thing to keep & I look forward to watching you journalling words next year. ThankU for another lovely, warm, genuine & interesting video ❤

I want to start by saying that if you crochet funny then so do I 😀 I hold my hook the same way you do, and tension with my little finger on the left hand. I really do enjoy these videos, little snippets into your life. Your poem resonated with me. “Life is not still” “ there is joy” I felt it in my bones when you read it, and that is exactly how I want to feel when I hear poetry.
I am an on again off again journal person. I think that just like other arts journaling is a way to get out of your head and into your hands. A way to let the words out.

Lovley again, Kathryn. I took my dog to the lake for a dip. I noticed a rag in the mud and pulled it out to take home and throw in the bin. It was all stained from the rocks and full of holes. A year ago, I would have said "yuck", instead, I could see all the potential for a terrific sewing project . Deliciously grungy 😅 I'm converted forever !!!

I love your cozy home. Each time you add something new it gets cozier. I picture myself sitting at your little table and having a good cup of tea and some good conversation! Your poem was beautiful! Funny, recently I've been thinking of reading some poetry and now I'll look into the book you mentioned. Looking forward to the next park life video. Thank you, Kathryn. ❤

Your poem is lovely along with all the other things you show us. I started teaching my 10 year old grandson cross stitch last week it was another way of him exercising his thumbs 😂 he actually got into the flow and although he didn’t finish what he was doing he has just messaged to say he wants to do the other cross stitch at home by himself. He leads such a busy life it’s always about finding time
