    Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
    We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

    I just want to say thank you to the Police for helping the Chinese people . That’s one thing we are lucky to have that we don’t appreciate enough of and we get help for free. Australia and New Zealand don’t charge us for their help like America does. Thank You. From a Cook Islander

    It won't take long to decimate the total sealife around NZ. Just got to have a look at the Bream Bay beaches on the weekend.

    The idiot who ran out of fuel should be charged for the cost of the rescue operation.

      Who leaves a friend when they are adrift far from port?
      With the rise of fuel theft, it's always best to check before heading to the ramp. It's one of those things that's vital to check.

      That's what happens when you do something idiotic in the US. If you're out hiking in the wilderness and you get chased off the path by a bear and get lost, no cost. You decide to climb up beachside cliffs and get stuck, you get the bill. Search and Rescue is there to help people who need help through no fault of their own. They charge to rescue dumdums.

    • @Jonathan.D
      @Jonathan.D 11 месяцев назад

      @jeanaprewitt9658 That depends on the state. In Colorado, a person can be charged for search and rescue. If someone is lost in the back country hiking or in the event of an avalanche, they can be charged. However, anyone who buys a fishing license is automatically covered. In Florida, they will rescue anyone in distress, and no matter the reason, the person is not charged. That doesn't seem right.

    What is the strangest sea food you've ever had? 🤔

    • @Jonathan.D
      @Jonathan.D 11 месяцев назад +2

      Strangest that I've eaten or strangest tasting? 😂
      I've had jellyfish, conch, and sea cucumber. The best was surprisingly the jellyfish. It was dried and in a Vietnamese green mango salad called Gỏi Xoài. I didn't know what it was until my wife told me. It also had lotus root in it.
      The worst thing I've had was sea cucumber. It has a similar iodine flavor like cheap sea urchin.

      @RealLifeRescue  11 месяцев назад

      Wow we've heard of a Vietnamese green salad with shrimp/prawn but never jellyfish! A sea cucumber looks like it'll taste funny 😂 @@Jonathan.D

    • @Jonathan.D
      @Jonathan.D 11 месяцев назад

      @@RealLifeRescue I wouldn't have known that the mystery ingredient was dried jellyfish. It wasn't what I was expecting the texture of a jellyfish would be. I don't like fishy stuff, slimy stuff, or that texture from the shrimp shell. So, if I think it's ok, then it's normally something most people will like. As for the sea cucumber, I would rather starve than have to eat one more bite of one. 🤮
      I lived in Vietnam for a few years. Whenever I took a bite of something that I didn't like, I was never shy about spitting it out. My wife would often get embarrassed. If I ate it, then the person would think that I liked it and would try to give me more. That can lead to some strange food items. The only thing with legs that the Vietnamese don't eat is a chair. Of course they don't seem to have many chairs. So that might not be true.

    so first person in video had about 25 mussels in excess. then the next guy has 3 snapper 5mm too small. both of these people where cooperative and received fines of $250 , yet in other videos people have been 2 x over thier limit, and had the whole catch undersize , they have been evasive and lied through thier teeth, and have been aggressive,entitelled ,, my question is this, where is the natural justice and the fairness in this ,,, yes the law is the law before keyboard warriors get upset, also my issue is the fact that nearly every aggressive entitled offender is of a certain skin colour this is a not a racist observation its factual ,,, why is this
