Good positive move! If the government had any sense, they will ask GTRE to start design work in parallel to increase inlet fan diameter & modify BPR to get thrust increase similar to GE404 to GE414.
This could be certified almost immediately after the 81KN engine but definitely within the time of when MK2 & AMCA go into serial production. This will put pressure on US govt to not play any games with critical core components as we will have a viable plan B.
For that to happen though, the work should be initiated NOW! Unfortunately MOD has never demonstrated such long term thinking....

I will say dry thrust is 50kn, and wet thrust will be 90kn.
Orignal kaveri had a very low bypass ratio of .17 .
So with improved fan and increased bypass ratio it will easily reach 90 kn with new afterburner.

This job should be given to HAL, Godrej, Bharat forge , GTRE, Bhel and few other companies . Govt should fund the development with Brahmos , The best one chosen and fitted on the engine

Twin Kaveri = ORCA.
But IAF has not agreed that it should be developed.
Maybe twin Kaveri could end up on TEDBF.
GE F414 generates 98 KN but that is as measured in a cooler environment.
Subtract 10 KN from that number and its still 88 KN .... which is +8 KN above Kaveri.
Some reduction in overall thrust can be traded
for strategic autonomy in engine production.
Foreign taps will be turned during times of war
so an indigenous engine is almost a necesscity at this point.

Endurance & durability are two other critical factors for real life operations. Power alone is not enough. How long can the engine produce this max thrust, and how many hours the engine will last, needs to be addressed.
Indian government has never invested properly on this jet engine development program.
India needs to create a national jet engine program to develop a range of jet engines for different uses:
Fighter planes
Helicopters
Naval ships
Drones
Battle tanks
Transport planes

Government closed this program in 2014 and not initiated alternative program is the biggest setback for India. We need to invest in R and D. Otherwise we will always beg for technology to foreign countries.

How much time can be reduced with full funding, as per your understanding?
If govt continues to ignore R&D and CAG puts question on money spent on R&D only god can save this country. It is really frustrating why Kaveri programme was not funded for 14 years. Had the funding provided 14 years back by this time Kaveri engine would have been ready.
Modi government stopped funding on the development of kaveri engine in 2014.

Hamare paas khud ka High Altitude Testing Facility nahi hai aur humko AMCA & TEDBF banana hai. Areh 5 se 7 saal matlab yeh kabhi banega hi nahi dhang se. Yeh sirf 10 saal mei 5 se 7 saal bole ja rahe hai aur aisa karte karte aur 10 sal matlab 20 saal lag jayenge. LCA Tejas koi Rafael se superior nahi jo iske integration ke liye aur 7 saal ya 10 saal lagenge
