How does a 14-year old boy with an IQ of 40 and no family, no guardian and no legal counsel end up in a maximum-security juvenile prison for a crime he didn't commit? This documentary film follows the 7-year journey of Justin, a little boy with no voice and seemingly no future, until those who "found" him never stopped fighting for his freedom.

No..thank you.. I was a product of the juvenile justice system here in NJ and you’ve told the stories way more realistically than I’ve seen anywhere else. I’m 35 now with a family, home and business. However I was happy to stumble across your channel a few weeks back because it reminds me of where I have came from and puts a little extra pride in myself for accomplishing what a lot of other “State Babies” couldn’t..✊🏽✊🏽

This documentary brought back memories of my life between 14-18 but I luckily have a family who didn't abandon me. It didn't stop the juvenile justice system from taking me from my parents and putting me in group homes and juvenile hall. Justin is obviously an outstanding young man. Thank you for all your hard work on this documentary.

@@seancov3441 Wow, your comment brings us to tears. What a testament you are for hope and resilliance. After 22 years of following kids like Justin and so many others that you see on our RUclips channel, we often return home despondent wondering how children can survive so much trauma. Yet here you are, telling your story so eloquently and proving that there is always, always hope. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, and odd as this sounds coming from complete strangers, we're so proud of the person you've obviously become. Having witnessed even a tiny bit of what you went through after our years filming inside these systems, you MORE than deserve all the credit in the world. Thanks for being on this RUclips ride with us. We hope we'll continue to be true to the kids we film and continue to tell the stories in the most real way we can. All the best to you!

I’m glad Justin has some people that love him ❤️
When I was a teenager, I was removed from my parent’s custody due to neglect and abuse. Since there wasn’t a foster home available immediately, I was placed in juvenile detention for a month - until one could be found.
I understand that it’s the only option in some areas, but it was worse than the home I was removed from.
I was transferred to a foster home after 30 days, and was eventually adopted by a distant family member. I remember actually feeling loved/wanted for the first time when I was adopted, and Justin deserves that too.
He seems like a great kid. I wish someone intervened earlier, but am grateful a few people stepped up to give him a voice.

What a sad but also amazingly beautiful story.
I’m a foster carer in England and strangely enough have recently started looking into what we call “remand fostering”, this is short term fostering of young people going through the court system. This documentary has given me more encouragement to move forward, at the moment I foster three teenage lads one english with autism and two unaccompanied juvenile asylum seekers (Afghanistan and Syria).
I really wish more people would consider fostering as I’ve honestly never had a more satisfying and rewarding job in my life, these kids are just crying out for a safe and loving home where they know they have someone that believes in them.

I’m thankful that Justin was lifted up through the cracks in Indiana’s JDOC and given the necessary treatment and stability he needed to grow and achieve beyond those walls.

I don't know how anyone who considers themselves human could not cry watching this. Even as someone working with kids like Justin for over 20 years this story still broke my heart. All people really want and deserve, from kids to the elderly, is to be loved and accepted and have a home. Justin's story poignantly expresses the deep yearning we all have for love and family. And Justin is so fortunate to have so many people who love him and consider him family, even if his biological family never realized the gift they had been given in him. But because of this his light shines for all the world to see and illuminates the stories of so many others like him.
