Great info I’m new to this so your info is much appreciated
Hey bud, just wanted to give ya an update on programming the uv5r, i have a newer version of it, when programming follow lane's method, the only thing different is having to delete the saved frequency from the "channel" menu, than saving YOUR frequency for that channel. Sounds more complicated than it is. Just a pain in the butt. Thats programming manually.
Reaching out: does anyone have a link for a good chirp program that i can use for the two-way
Ok. Tgat was cool. I have the same brand comms but no screen. Mine has a channels knob to turn 1- 10 I think. Can I still use it
Amazing video, thank you.
Hey, I have earpro, what do I need to plug it into a radio like this?
What do the rest of the menu settings do?
I’m really confused as to the requirements of operating the UV 5R. I’ve heard this and that and it’s confusing. What frequencies are legal and don’t require a license?
if you use the low power mode the radio will transmit at less than 2 watts, all FRS & GMRS channels are legal while in the low power mode.
Trust me these people are out there looking for illegal transmission. And they can tell how many watts your using on a certain frequency. For example IF your using this radio on low power 2watts or high power 5watts on frs (which is illegal) then it will red flag that signal and will be tracked automatically where that transmission originated from. And the FCC will send out a team to go to that location and investigate. So like what I said use at your own risk. Here's a video of a FCC enforcement agent scanning the air for illegal transmission.

Silverback Guerrilla Technically the radios are not in compliance with FRS & GRMS. So beginning with October 2019 they FCC issued rules that radios for sale were illegal. You can still buy these radios but retailers, including ones on Amazon, have disabled those capabilities. People keep misreporting that the radios are banned.
Is this video under exposed or did you just not use lights?
I've been experimenting with some lighting/exposure tweeks because my lighting set up is REALLY intense and makes my face shine; so I tried to lower exposure to counteract that. I did the same thing with the video before this, however I was using a different lens.
Radios are illegal for private use here. But with our games and field sizes not needed.
Ron Torrence when you say here wherevdo you mean
I live in Thailand.
Really, the government has banned civilian radio use?
I that was the case i would said "screw it. Lets do it anyways"
I've seen questions in here about the legality of use of this radio on the frs or gmrs band. The simple answer is no. It is illegal to use this radio on the FRS / GMRS channels. I see some people saying that that's false, as long as you turn your power to the lowest settings, then you can use ANY radios including this radio (uv-5r and it's variants). I'm not sure where they got their information from but that's incorrect (If that person think otherwise pls head over to the FCC site and read). If you wanna know the legality of use of this radio or any other radios pls head over to FCC website and read. All the information you need is there. If you dont want to read then heres a informative video you can watch about which radios you can use on what frequencies. This video will show you exactly what it says on the FCC website. Thank you and have a great day.

I understand that power of the radio is important, but the frequency he is using isn't legal without a license.
@@tycole3972 oh yes, most def not legal. GMRS is a licensed band. I happen to be a GMRS licensed user.
ok boomer
I need some help. i just bought a headset, a ptt and a radio but i can't communicate with my team. i can receive comms but i can't transmit
Mason Eckebrecht did you buy a real steel headset? If you did, you need to buy a amplified ptt or change the mic from the headset.
tazthedevil22 i got it figured out, but thanks man
Mason Eckebrecht dcs or ctcc coding issue? That shit murdered me when I first got into radios
Which channels do you use? There are only a few that are legal to use without a HAM radio license. The FCC has steep fines for violations.
Does it have a panic button though? Actual question that I hope someone answers!
Apparently you didnt watch the last video. Go do that.
Ok..... So my question is, what freqs can uou use without having to get an fcc license?
On this radio? Nothing that I can think of. You need a license for the ham bands, FRS, GMRS and MURS are only for certified radios and everything else is covered by emergency services and tv broadcast and whatever else needs some space on the radio waves.
All that being said... As long as you don't use important frequencies and don't act like a idiot/dick, the chances of the FCC going after you is really low. But you should get your basic (Technician) ham license anyway. It's really easy and cheap to get.
your a moron. if you use the "Low power mode" you can transmit on all FRS AND! GMRS channels, the FCC has changed the rules so that as long as you are transmitting at less that 2watts then all FRS and GMRS channels are allowed
@@juniorslothsix5562 keep it Professional dude.
Technically, none. If you dont want to worry about any of this then just go with a pack of 4 walkie talkies from Walmart. If you use this on FSR frequencies, you are technically breaking the law, but if are not messing up with EMS or Police or anything like that, you will probably never get caught. I've been doing that for the pass month or so and nothing.
@@28ebdh3udnav this is a youtube comment section not a place of work lmao
Why don't you just use FRS/GMRS radios that you can get for cheap and not deal with all of the license or be illegal issues.
I looked up the radio and there's questions about using these and needing amateur radio licenses here. There any confirmation for that?
ECSF West Joker you do not.
ECSF West Joker actually, I didn't think about this for whatever dumb reason, laws may differ in your area. Where i live, you don't need one (Pennsylvania).
If you are using the radios in some frequencies you do need a license but if you are staying within the range of like the motorola talk about then you should be good
if you use frs and gmrs channels (standard two ways use these) then no licence is required in most or all states in the us
It depends where you live. As far as I'm aware there's no such restrictions here in the UK, but you may want to check up to see if it's legal in your area.
I have several friends that are licensed radio operators and I'm currently studying for my general license. Using these radios even on FRS channels is illegal in the United States, no matter what state you live in as it's Federal law regulated by the FCC.
no its not. your just another mis informed person. if you put the radio into low power mode you can use all FRS and GMRS channels.
Taxation is theft
Um..bb warrior why do you co op with "Asian with hat" the guy is considered a utter scumbag at d14 I would suggest that you don't do anything with him.
Trooper 1139 what did he do?
Again airsofters with Radios are the most annoying guys for lads like me😅
radio nerd
I really suggest for ALL air softers or 4x4 overlamders or anything else in between whos NOT LICENSED, IF YOUR GOING TO BREAK THE LAW BY USING THESE RADIOS, Pls ONLY use the FRS bands and try to stay away from THE LICENSED GMRS BANDS to prevent interference to actual paid licensed GMRS users.
Thank you for your cooperation!
What do the rest of the menu settings do?
