Bungie for the incredible design work with that gun to tell you everything you need to know about it without even playing the game, and Jonathan for so rapidly getting a feeling for Destiny's design style so swiftly without actually being a player.

Ostio Striga too. Some of the skins make the guns more practical and kinda wished they would've shown some of those. The Arbalest has an ornament that gives it a more practical sight
The person doing the demonstration doesn't make it super obvious but the weapon at 14:48 the "Crimson" actually fires in a 3 round burst, which is even more uncanny than a full auto revolver.

@@calus_bath_water I think this is actually in asian markets. The US region still seemingly hasn't figured out effective designs for electromagnetic weaponry.
I'd love to see more of the Legendary offerings, especially the Foundry weapons. I could see Jonathan really enjoying the design motifs across each foundry, Veist being very angular and having P90-esque magazines, Hakke's more conventional designs, Omolon's energy/gel/fluid reservoirs. Maybe throw in a few of the recent Seasonal weapons like the Seven Seraph guns or the new Season of the Plunder guns
And even some base game Legendaries, like the Scathelocke being an AK design with slight variation due to animations, and then some of the City weapons like the Steady Hand and Origin Story, being the unique generic options but still having some more unique concepts in performance. And then even classic stuff like the Shadow Price and shotguns in general. So many good legendaries to see and watch him break down.
So the thing about guns in Destiny is that a good portion of them use unconventional ammunition. This ranges from straight up energy packs to liquid ammo, but regardless, magic guns don’t jam because they are magic.
Even in lore, often referred to as any Vanguard (particularly Banshee's) guns just plain don't ever jam. Gotta love the gun just flash-forming ammo as it shoots into the chamber correctly, eh?
So refreshing to see a specialist in these videos that actually tries to get into the game and understand the context of the "sci-fi" weapons instead of just confirming that they are "not real". Cool personality and interesting hosting, great video.
I haven't really seen anyone try to explain the game's gun meta to Jonathan, and given that he's already made like 3 videos on the subject, I think I'll state some of the core information on the game. Destiny 2 has weapon types (Auto Rifle, Pulse Rifle, Sidearm, etc) as well as different elements. Weapon types include: "Primary Ammo" weapons which presumably take lighter rounds and don't require "ammo drops" in-game anymore, hence the infinite ammo counter: Auto Rifle: Assault rifle. This category includes rifles that act as heavier battle rifles as well as ones that would act as lighter bullet hoses and everything in between. Pulse Rifle: A burst-fire rifle. Scout Rifle: A semi-automatic "designated marksman" type rifle, usually quite accurate. Sidearm: Typical handguns, usually semi-auto or burst-fire, but some are full-auto. Hand Cannon: Big, heavy revolver-type weapons. Submachine guns, which usually follow an MP7 or P90 format. "Special Ammo" weapons: Shotguns, either slug or pellets. Snipers, self explanatory. Grenade Launchers, which can either form "waves" on the ground, or fire a bouncy remote-detonated bomb. Fusion Rifles, which aren't self-explanatory: Fusion Rifles charge up and fire some kind of short-range energy bolts. Purely a D2 thing. Glaives, which are medeival polearm-type weapons which can project energy shields and shoot energy projectiles. "Heavy Ammo" weapons: Heavy grenade launchers, usually drum-fed Rocket launchers Swords Machine Guns, which are fully automatic, usually belt-fed weapons. Linear Fusion Rifles, which are like Fusion Rifles, but instead of firing a burst they fire a single long-range, precision bolt. Elements include: Kinetic, which is just regular bullets. Arc, which is basically "lightning". Void, which is some kind of cosmic singularity type energy. Solar, which is like 'solar plasma'. Stasis, which is made of "Darkness" and projects an ice effect. Every gun has 1 weapon type and 1 element, so there could be a Solar Auto Rifle or a Kinetic Pulse Rifle. As for the HUD and how weapon switching works: The Game offers a Kinetic Slot, an Energy Slot, and a Heavy slot for weaponry. -All Heavy weapons are elemental weapons. -Primary and Special ammo weapons fit in both Kinetic and Energy slots, but only Heavy weapons fit in the Heavy slot and Heavy weapons can only be put in said slot. This is why you see the player cycling through three weapons. -A little icon by the weapon indicates the element: no icon means Kinetic, an orange flame means Solar, a blue electricity icon means Arc, a purple circle black hole type icon means Void, and a dark blue ice-type icon means Stasis. -Stasis, despite being an element, fits in the Kinetic slot since it's not made of "Light Energy," it is made of "Darkness." All of this information gets twisted or outright discarded when Exotics or some unique "Legendary" weapons are brought in. Aside from effects that just boost the weapon's statistical advantage over non-Exotic counterparts, some Exotics have drastically different function compared to non-Exotic weapons. Eyes of Tomorrow fires six rockets at once, Gjallarhorn can fire 2 cluster rockets, Graviton Lance is a scout rifle that acts like an accurate pulse rifle, Lord of Wolves is a shotgun that acts like a pulse rifle mixed with a fusion rifle, Jotunn shoots a single homing fireball instead of a fusion burst, Bastion fires kinetic projectiles in a spread instead of a fusion burst, etc. These "inconsistencies" make Exotic weapons truly Exotic even within the game they feature in. All things considered, even though there's hundreds of guns, the vast majority of them still have a unique identity. Whether they're worth covering or not is up to you, though Exotics will always be unique and interesting. P.S. There's also "Weapon Archetypes" but they're just a way of making different guns within the same class feel different. One Auto-Rifle might feel like a SCAR-H, another might feel like an M4, and some might feel like a drum fed bullet hose. Sidearm archetypes include full-auto, burst fire, etc. Pulse archetypes include accuracy or high fire rates. So on. Exotics don't have archetypes, they have "Exotic Perks" instead, giving them their completely unique function.
Ok. Good explanation, but as a D1 player, I have to correct something. Fusion rifles were in D1. Linear fusion rifles were not. Sidearms ,to my knowledge, were introduced in The House of Wolves while swords were introduced in The Taken King.
@@ResillyusXD there was a linear fusion rifle in D1, though it wasn't identified as such back then IIRC: Sleeper Simulant. (Might also count Queenbreaker) And one additional nit-pic for OP, because this was genuinely a great write up: Graviton Lance is a pulse rifle, not a scout. It also used to fire a 3-round burst with the lore being that the first round(s) would clear a path for the singularity round to travel though. I also like how Jonathan's take on the Grand Overture was more accurate before he saw it in action. Shame the demonstration of it didn't show the rocket launcher function, that would have been a fun reaction to watch
I really love Hakke weapons, hard-hitting, conventional, and highly effective. Proves how conventional weaponry is still as strong as guns juiced-up by space magic
@@TheGuiltyPillow "Oh, look! its a waterfall of Vex... milk... yes, Vex-milk..." Literally my favorite line in the whole game and when that strike finally gets vaulted i will cry.
its also old for a weapon in terms of timeline. supposedly it was made either before the last city was built or sometime in its early days. as such it uses 'older' technology, like an arbelest compared to a modern rifle. its just that its still a railgun, so all it needs to keep up or surpass the current standard of damage is more energy per shot.
Credit to Jonathan for doing these. Destiny has some really wacky looking/acting weapons yet he's still almost always able to understand both the direction the creators intended to take it, whilst also being able to point out inspiration for the design as well as possible explanations for it to function, even when the in-game lore is just "space magic". I wonder how he'd react to Malfeasance...
One of the cool things that I’m sad hasn’t been shown off yet is that when using a controller, hand cannons have double action triggers that match the input of the actual controller
A little sad that some of these weapons aren't in their base skins. The graviton lance, while still very fantastical, makes a lot more sense in its base skin. The ornaments just give it a different theme and are often even more fantasy
@@justinmercier293 I'd disagree its an eyesore, personally I think its one of the better looking exotics in its base skin, but I agree the white does look better

I love this series, especially the Destiny episodes. The "magazine" on Osteo Strigga decaying is by far one of my favorite details of any gun in the game.
Kind of sad the gameplays rarely showed the sights so the man just had to assume they weren't functional sights. Also like others have said, I wish they had shown the guns all in their base forms as they are the 'canon' looks.
Yeah, whoever is giving him these clips could at least do some slightly more thorough insights instead of showing some ornaments and functionality for some guns and not for others. Like with Osteo Striga since the ornament completely changes it from semi-sensible to complete magic. And not firing Arbalest to show that it's essentially a rail gun.
Idk if its just me but I wish the weapons he does didnt have any ornaments on because alot of them change the look of the weapon either completely or material composition
@@adamjdavis201 I mean, i only played destiny 2 for a little bit when it became f2p, but im assuming that getting exotic guns is quite grindy, so id assume that they got various people to send in clips because they couldnt grind all of that stuff just for the video?
Getting exotic weapons is not difficult, and any long-term player has almost every exotic gun, and would wield them more adeptly then whoever captured the gameplay footage.
The whole thing of Arbalest being reminiscent of classic crossbows makes sense, they were kinda the precursor to guns From what I can remember, in the lore, Arbalest was kinda a prototype or a precursor to the linear fusion rifle weapon class
I was surprised when it wasn't shown to fire. I feel like seeing the kinetic projectile be accelerated along the top would have really cleared up the functionality at least, although it wouldn't make anymore sense
@@thegloriouskingkronk8422 I mean, it would make a bit more sense. Arbalest is basically a hand held rail gun, albeit a very advanced, powerful, and reliable rail gun
When one is a paracausal being, nothing needs to make sense. You turn the taken king into a gun in D1. You turn Savathun' worm god into a grenade launcher
My headcanon on how Parasite works is that the damage we deal with the weapon is just enough to heal Worm since their species feeds on death itself. But for gameplay reasons we obviously run out of ammo.
Pretty much only hive get turned into guns. Oryx is touch of malice, Xol is whisper of the worm, Marcus was turned into a bug, and is now xenophage, and savathuns worm is now parasite. We take guns from cabal and eliksni, but we create guns from hive.
I would love to see this guy look at some legendary weapons from Destiny. See what he thinks of the different weapon foundry styles. Hakke is definitely more realistic, but it would be interesting to hear his thoughts on them.
They are all pretty realistic, but approach how "future tech" may be developed in different ways. Hakke: brutalist and simple, basically what we already have but touched up. Suros: "designer" rifles with a larger casing that encorporates smooth lines and clean angles, not unlike a sports car. Looks more futuristic than it actually is. Omolon: True next-gen that expands on current technology. It actually uses weaponized 3d printer technology: polymer resin is forced into the chamber and "flashed" from a liquid to a solid using radiation, and that hardened projectile is launched with hydrolic pressure. Sometimes the resin is instead used to store energy and be consumed as fuel. Very convoluted way to achieve the same basic action. Veist: mostly conventional, but each rifle has an on board AI that dynamically adjusts aspects of the weapon to optimize results. Has all custom magazines and loading actions to support this.
Three gods, a few guardians, far too many mortals, etc. We have a problem. Next season in destiny 2! We turn Zavala into a sidearm that no one will ever use!
The ornaments(skins that changes the aesthetic of the weapon) in Destiny tend to be very fantastical looking compared to the base guns really wish they tried showing the guns without the ornaments
Crimson is a three round burst revolver, and the only non-magical way I could see that functioning is if it's got stacked projectiles in each chamber, metal storm style. Perhaps when the hammer drops, it strikes a piezoelectric element that then electrically ignites each charge in the cylinder in sequence.
Canonically it’s hinted to be a cut down red death which did almost the same thing, but in all honesty there should be a crimson ornament that makes it resemble the red death more like one of those AR/AK pistols that exist
@@randomindividual948 I know I run it, I was saying if Bungie could make a skin for it that makes it look more like a cut down of Red Death with the magazine rather the cylinder
crimson is just a an big easter egg tbh. there's always been a fascination with exotic hand cannon like thron, hawkmoon and last word so my guess is bungie just made red death into a hand cannon thinking people would like it
love whenever he comes to check these out onething i wish theyd change up however, alot of the things he isnt sure about/gets wrong can easily be resolved by letting him get his hands on the game for a moment it seems. Would be neat if he could either paly with them/see someone play with them more
7:17 ; I mostly though of it being akin to the M79 "Blooper" grenade launcher. Though, to be fair, the style itself does look like the HK69 grenade launcher. I probably thought the Blooper because of it's iconic use in T2 during the office scene after the mini-gun.
So, correction on what Jonathan said around 19:50, Pulse Rifle and Auto Rifle do not indicate the type of ammunition fired, they indicate the weapon's firing behaviour. Pulse, being a bit of a synonym of Burst, indicates that they fire in bursts, usually 3 or 4 rounds, sometimes 2 (like Graviton Lance), sometimes 5. Auto Rifles fire Full-Auto. Hope that clears up any confusion on that front :)
If Johnathan reads the comments, he's very close on Cloudstrike. The 'barrel' section is actually a Shepherd's Crook, and is an artefact with power of its own. I believe that in the lore, long before the game takes place, an Eliksni (one of the alien races in the game) used the Crook to harness Arc (lightning) energy and wield it for themselves. And as seems to be a theme with Destiny, we turn it into a gun, which happens to a lot of different artefacts, objects, people and gods in the lore. Thought this would be fun to clarify/share.
Leaving a comment here as I’ve just watched all the Destiny vids and I’d like to address some concerns Jonathan has had so far. First off, the majority of weapons he’s seen so far, namely the exotics, are custom made and highly personalized or prototypes that allow for a level of eccentricity in their cosmetics, there’s little in the way of mass produced weapons in Destiny save for the more common brand name legendaries which all have design philosophies in common and vary from designer to designer, Hakke, Suros, etc. Secondly, ammunition is more of a suggestion than anything, the majority of kinetic ammunition is made out of glimmer, a type of programmable matter that acts as projectile, propellant, and most other things. It can be incredibly dense or the opposite and explains the lack of sense to most magazine and feed systems as they’re more like glimmer repositories allowing for ammunition to take its shape as needed, typically the only thing distinct to the gun is the magazine itself in this case. On the glimmer topic it also makes up a good chunk of the manufacturing process so anything that would be considered wasteful or unnecessary on the machining side of things can be ignored because everything’s effectively 3D printed with a highly versatile all purpose material. Lastly, energy weapons, usually they just run off some kind of standard energy cell, the magazine as it would be, some also run off projected plasma, sometimes they have casings as well but usually that’s just glimmer being used as a disposable heatsink on a per shot basis. As for spent casings on the ballistic weaponry side of things I’ve got no real explanation there it’s mostly just a design choice. Also weight is more or less irrelevant save for the handling of a weapon that’s currently used, in terms of ammo storage and carrying any additional weapons on your person they’re actually somewhere else and near instantly teleported to you when you need them.
To tack onto this, many of the Exotics so far have been seen with ornaments involved. Many of the designs are questionable at best. On the topic of Graviton Lance, it's effectively a particle accelerator. I couldn't explain the magazine as anything beyond a possible thermal repository that is monitored by internal systems to be ejected and swapped as needed.
7:36 The sights are functional. The player is shooting from the hip. They are a bit offset compared to real ones, though. The grenades can be remotely detonated too.
I think looking at stuff from Deep Rock Galactic could be pretty fun, especially with the designs on them being a lot more grounded in reality like the M1000
So crimson has a three round burst and a bayonet because its literally the front end of an assault rifle disguising itself disguised/by its owner as a revolver because the gun is evil and in universe is meant to be destroyed on sight. It doesn't function like a revolver because it isn't really a revolver, its just been space magicked to look and fire like a revolver whilst still retaining the ballistic properties of the original rifle. The original version of the gun is an assault rifle called red death
You should do a second episode and focus on the three specifications of weapons; primary, energy, and heavy. They each really have their own quirks several of the heavy weapons and I think a few energy weapons will really muck with Jonathans perspective on weapons
I wanted to give a little bit of insight about a few of these weapons Arbalest: it does actually shoot a slug similar to a rail gun Fighting Lion: certain types of grenade launchers in Destiny can be manually detonated in air. Fighting Lion does have a perk where the grenade is more bouncy than other grenades Grand Overture: this weapon is meant to be held by a very large enemy unit which is why it has the ribbed grip on top for that enemy to hold Graviton Lance: it shoots mini black holes (that’s about it) Hopefully this helps clear up a few things about them
The thing about Cloudstrike is essentially that someone took the central cane-part and surrounded it with the gun components. iirc it was essentially a magic staff used a few hundred years back by a more evil-aligned lightbearer. After his death, the staff was turned into a gun and essentially fires bolts of lightning, safe to say, the gun falls more into the 'science fantasy' field that a lot of the exotic guns in D2 end up falling into.
Here are a list of weapons I highly recommend: Hazard of the Cast, Bygones, Pillager, Parcel of Stardust, Dreaded Venture, Trust, Distant Relation, and The Long Goodbye. These all have a more realistic look to them compared any other weapon in the game. They're not exotic, but I feel like Jonathan would definitely have more stuff to say about them. Cheers!
the graviton lance is basically shooting two small black holes at whatever you're aiming at and the barrel is like a particle accelerator of sorts, the gun itself is mainly made of a carbon fiber like material and copper as its electrically conductive and thus makes throwing black holes a little easier, the "small universe" is where most of the copper would be but the person who recorded the game had an ornament on (a visual mod to change the way it looks based on in game lore), hope this help :)
Just to clarify I'm pretty certain you actually can aim down the sites of the launcher at 7:20, also the rounds in those breach style grenade launchers can be remote detonated by releasing the trigger pull used to fire it, this is the the reason the rounds were sometimes exploding midair, sometimes bouncing around Edit: a typo
I saw those guns you cant show us when i was over in england! They were absolutely gorgeous!!! Johnathon i absolutely loved the museum! It was a weapons nut dream!!!! Keep up the awesome work
19:48 The whole concept of Pulse Rifles to Auto Rifles being tied to what type of ammunition isn't really correct. Auto Rifles are just fully automatic weapons while the Pulse Rifles are burst fire weapons. Then there's scout rifles which are just semiautomatic.
I think if you prefaced Jonathan with the lore that humanity has basically progressed to the point where they can convert what is basically stabilized energy into matter on demand (glimmer and also ammo synthesis in a lot of cases) he'd understand that sometimes the weird looking magazine is literally a battery that prints bullets on demand.
Please Jonathan, made a video on *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* weapons. (Please like the comment so gamespot can finally see it) So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone. There are so many more other interesting trivias and weapons in MGS3 so please gamespot and Johnathan make a video that isnt just more call of duty or tarkov (as much as I love those series) it just feels stale now revisiting the same games for multiple videos.
What I like most is there is some lore reason for almost everything. I wish there was someone who could explain some of the stuff on the videos. After he struggles to figure it out himself of course because that's the best part. For example, the weird single block revolver magazines don't actually contain bullets. They have the materials for the bullets in them then they are transmatted into place before each shot.
I'd love to see his reaction to some legendary weapons, I feel he'd be able to give a bit more insight as they're less fantastical than the exotics. Although I do enjoy seeing his baffled reactions.
When it comes to the categories of weapons, Pulse Rifles fire in bursts, the "Pulse" part of that doesn't always correlate to a purely energized weapon, it's just signifying that it fires in pulses, basically. Also all Pulse Rifles are bullpup rifles, Auto Rifles have traditional front magazine placements aside from those made by the VEIST weapon foundry, which uses P90 style magazines, and Scout Rifles can have traditional, bullpup, or P90 style magazines, although a majority are standard bullpup rifles. Almost all Hand Cannons, with only three exceptions (although mechanically they work the same), also have that on-block reloading system, with a container housing the rounds being inserted into a hollow cylinder, removing the need for loading one round at a time.
Fun fact about the Fighting Lion: it's not just an ornamental grenade launcher, it also is unique for Destiny because it uses your infinite Primary ammunition instead of limited Special ammo like every other GL, and you can manually detonate or hold the detonation of the launched grenade. Very unique weapon.
@@torunsmok5890 true. It's what makes them so versatile. Some of the best PvE weapons in the game. Their versatility is why I personally favour them over wave frames. But Fighting Lion does feel a bit like the grandaddy of all 'bloop tube' GLs.
Fun fact: the "magazine" for cloud strike is actually a battery. It's purpose is to store extra energy discharged from the staff to prevent the user getting harmed. When you reload you essentially put a new empty "battery" back in.
Some lore on the cartridge used for firearms that use an actual bullet, they aren't using conventional gun powder. Some of them use a small explosive them as they where designed to be used in areas of low gravity or somewhere oxygen is not readily present (noted the very first cutscene shows a group of three on mars to meet the traveler). But after metting with the traveler and with it's grace, cause a boom in firearm designs where we have plasma blasting firearms now and cartridges that fire a energy based projectile also.
Pulserifle and Autorifle ar terms used to describe the weapons firing pattern(ingame). Autorifle is fully automatik, pulse is kn 2-5 round bursts, with a 3 round burst being the standard.
why do they always show him the grossest ornaments? just show the default gun also him seeing the fighting lion and instantly knowing its south east asian XD
Right. I'm pretty annoyed at how they haven't shown him any Hakke weapons... they should do these videos by foundry rather than just hopscotching between different foundry weapons
Fact Ramble: Crimson: Made from an old Pulse Rifle (Red Death) that was destroyed in the fall of The Tower from Destiny 1. It's exotic perk, the barrel, and it's firing mode references it. No Time To Explain: The Barrel effects are based on the fact this weapon can tap into time itself to create an alternate wormhole that follow the player that acts like a sentry. Grand Overture: Is an weapon used by one of the enemy factions (The Cabal) it's labeled as a "Power Slug Thrower". Much like the enemies in that faction that most commonly use it (Colossus) can fire a volley of missiles.

I'd love to see more of the Legendary offerings, especially the Foundry weapons. Like how mass effect thermal clips work.

Weapon types include:
"Primary Ammo" weapons which presumably take lighter rounds and don't require "ammo drops" in-game anymore, hence the infinite ammo counter:
Auto Rifle: Assault rifle.
"Special Ammo" weapons:
Shotguns, either slug or pellets.
"Heavy Ammo" weapons:
Heavy grenade launchers, usually drum-fed
Rocket launchers
Swords
Machine Guns, which are fully automatic, usually belt-fed weapons.
Linear Fusion Rifles, which are like Fusion Rifles, but instead of firing a burst they fire a single long-range, precision bolt.
Elements include:
Kinetic, which is just regular bullets.
As for the HUD and how weapon switching works:
The Game offers a Kinetic Slot, an Energy Slot, and a Heavy slot for weaponry.
-Stasis, despite being an element, fits in the Kinetic slot since it's not made of "Light Energy," it is made of "Darkness."
All of this information gets twisted or outright discarded when Exotics or some unique "Legendary" weapons are brought in.
Great break down mate 🤌🏾..... And then there's the difference in design between different foundry weapons to consider too
I read this in one breath, in my head but my god i was begging for air. So I think it was a phenomenal explanation friend.
Ok. Good explanation, but as a D1 player, I have to correct something. Fusion rifles were in D1. Linear fusion rifles were not. Sidearms ,to my knowledge, were introduced in The House of Wolves while swords were introduced in The Taken King.
You forgot about Trace Rifles, mate
@@ResillyusXD there was a linear fusion rifle in D1, though it wasn't identified as such back then IIRC: Sleeper Simulant. (Might also count Queenbreaker)
And one additional nit-pic for OP, because this was genuinely a great write up: Graviton Lance is a pulse rifle, not a scout.

Credit to Jonathan for doing these.

Has all custom magazines and loading actions to support this.
with touch of malice back in the game there may be enough weapons to do a themed "friends and enemies we turned into guns" video for destiny

Crimson is a three round burst revolver, and the only non-magical way I could see that functioning is if it's got stacked projectiles in each chamber, metal storm style. Perhaps when the hammer drops, it strikes a piezoelectric element that then electrically ignites each charge in the cylinder in sequence.

onething i wish theyd change up however, alot of the things he isnt sure about/gets wrong can easily be resolved by letting him get his hands on the game for a moment it seems.
That's more or less how all break-action nade launchers are in d2
Would really love to see the legendary weapons reviewed, something from the foundries more grounded so Jonathan can provide more insights
i haven’t used osteo striga much but hadn’t noticed that the magazine decays as you shoot. such a cool idea!
Destiny's marriage of high fantasy and sci fi is one of the coolest settings ive ever experienced.
100% agreed. And they do it all so brilliantly.

I would love to see him react to the "wonder weapons" of cod zombies
Id love to see what he thinks of the wunderwaffe dg2
Isn't that literally just cod weapons but fancy skin and different particle effects
Edit: I'm thinking of pack a punch nvm
Would be cool to see Jonathan's take on Perfect Dark's weapons.
YESSS i've been wanting to see this
Jonathan’s face gives me life
So crimson has a three round burst and a bayonet because its literally the front end of an assault rifle disguising itself disguised/by its owner as a revolver because the gun is evil and in universe is meant to be destroyed on sight.
5:18 this is what I most love about the series: pondering on how fantastical things would behave in realistic scenarios
I love the gun design in Destiny. Id love to see him react to Warframe Weapons.
He would have a heartattack
The problem with this review is that some of the weapons have ornaments witch means that the weapon looks very different to its original state
That opening shot of Jonathan's face
Oh boy this gonna be a good episode
I wanted to give a little bit of insight about a few of these weapons
Arbalest: it does actually shoot a slug similar to a rail gun
Fighting Lion: certain types of grenade launchers in Destiny can be manually detonated in air. Fighting Lion does have a perk where the grenade is more bouncy than other grenades
Grand Overture: this weapon is meant to be held by a very large enemy unit which is why it has the ribbed grip on top for that enemy to hold
Graviton Lance: it shoots mini black holes (that’s about it)
Hopefully this helps clear up a few things about them
The thing about Cloudstrike is essentially that someone took the central cane-part and surrounded it with the gun components. iirc it was essentially a magic staff used a few hundred years back by a more evil-aligned lightbearer.
Cheers!
"I'm sure the comments will enlighten me"
Brother we have no idea ourselves how half these weapons work
the graviton lance is basically shooting two small black holes at whatever you're aiming at and the barrel is like a particle accelerator of sorts, the gun itself is mainly made of a carbon fiber like material and copper as its electrically conductive and thus makes throwing black holes a little easier, the "small universe" is where most of the copper would be but the person who recorded the game had an ornament on (a visual mod to change the way it looks based on in game lore), hope this help :)
Really want to see him go over more Hunt: Showdown guns, there's been a lot of changes since the last Hunt video and I'd love to see him review more

I am so happy to see more Destiny weapon reviews like these. I would absolutely love to watch him play the game himself though. XD
Just to clarify I'm pretty certain you actually can aim down the sites of the launcher at 7:20, also the rounds in those breach style grenade launchers can be remote detonated by releasing the trigger pull used to fire it, this is the the reason the rounds were sometimes exploding midair, sometimes bouncing around
Edit: a typo

The whole concept of Pulse Rifles to Auto Rifles being tied to what type of ammunition isn't really correct.
Auto Rifles are just fully automatic weapons while the Pulse Rifles are burst fire weapons. Then there's scout rifles which are just semiautomatic.
I never noticed it until now but the "on block clip" actualy has rounds in it which you can see at 16:52-16:53, nice little detail
You should’ve added the firing animation, then you would’ve known that the Arbalest is a railgun.

Would love to see him react to the guns from Warframe, especially some of the Tenno and Grineer weapons with their especially wacky mechanisms
Would like to see him react to the pinnacle weapons like Redrix’s Broadsword or Luna’s Howl
The gold/silver revolver is called Crimson and it fires in a 3 shot burst and refills the magazine from reserves on precision kills.
Please Jonathan, made a video on *METAL GEAR SOLID 3* weapons. (Please like the comment so gamespot can finally see it)
So many weapons in MGS3 to react and comment on like the Patriot's infinite ammo magazine, the EZ tranq gun, Snake's customized officer M1911A1, Snake whittling the pistol grip to use a knife for CQC, Ocelot's SAA juggling skills, The End's paratrooper tranquilizer Mosin Nagant, the Davey Crockett recoil-less nuclear launcher and Eva's chinese mauser clone.
The last part is true of all lightweight archetype breachload GLs tho
@@torunsmok5890 true. It's what makes them so versatile. Some of the best PvE weapons in the game. Their versatility is why I personally favour them over wave frames.

Fun fact: the "magazine" for cloud strike is actually a battery. It's purpose is to store extra energy discharged from the staff to prevent the user getting harmed. When you reload you essentially put a new empty "battery" back in.
would love to see him react to the regular foundry legendary weapons
Some lore on the cartridge used for firearms that use an actual bullet, they aren't using conventional gun powder. Some of them use a small explosive them as they where designed to be used in areas of low gravity or somewhere oxygen is not readily present (noted the very first cutscene shows a group of three on mars to meet the traveler). But after metting with the traveler and with it's grace, cause a boom in firearm designs where we have plasma blasting firearms now and cartridges that fire a energy based projectile also.
It's a shame that just previewing the weapons like this doesn't show how good they feel.
I wish he knew the fighting lion’s projectiles were controlled by the trigger release, he may have has some interesting input on that.
Would be interesting if he react to The Division 2 exotic gun/specialization weapons . There are some interesting gun design there.
Pulserifle and Autorifle ar terms used to describe the weapons firing pattern(ingame). Autorifle is fully automatik, pulse is kn 2-5 round bursts, with a 3 round burst being the standard.
why do they always show him the grossest ornaments? just show the default gun
also him seeing the fighting lion and instantly knowing its south east asian XD
I need more of this as I need John to review ALL THE EXOTIC WEAPONS! Please and thank you.
can we get one of the legendary ones, there are some hakke weapons hed probly be ok with
Right. I'm pretty annoyed at how they haven't shown him any Hakke weapons... they should do these videos by foundry rather than just hopscotching between different foundry weapons
@@TheForbidden_1ne servent leader is one id like to see personally
Fact Ramble:
Crimson: Made from an old Pulse Rifle (Red Death) that was destroyed in the fall of The Tower from Destiny 1.
Much like the enemies in that faction that most commonly use it (Colossus) can fire a volley of missiles.
okay i feel like using cosmetic items to make them weirder is a bit cheating
Close! The Cloudstrikr uses that pointy bit as an electrode, and directs lightning/arc energy straight out of the point, much like a tungsten rod
I love this guy and I love these videos. It’s so interesting to hear his brain make sense of things like the Crimson and Wardcliff.
Wardcliff is a Dyson 😂
YES!! Another reacts video of Destiny 2 weapons! I absolutely love these. And I can't wait to actually visit the Royal Armouries next week when I'm heading on vacation to Leeds.
