Cybertruck sells as fast as they can make them due to limited supply and status. Expect price reduction in the new year when 4680 is produced at lower cost and increased energy density. God help the hindmost pickup...
Current Pick Up market is defined by cheap fuel. Europeans want Pickups too, but our fuel prices make them too expensive to own. An electric Pickup totally chaanges that. The CT will not target the same market as traditional pickups.
CyberTruck is not just another electric pickup truck. CyberTruck represents many entirely new and highly advanced technologies *and* manufacturing processes. While Tesla may not have hit the target on some of the originally stated specs, they did manage to get the CyberTruck into production and into customers' hands. The first several thousand provide highly valuable feedback that goes into fixing problems that get integrated very quickly into the manufacturing line. As a technologist and gearhead who grew up in Detroit during the 1960s and 1970s, CyberTruck as a whole is absolutely brilliant.
Unfortunately, most people don't think nor care about any of this. Cue ANY conversation with ANYONE you know regarding tesla or the revolution of cybertruck. They just don't care. And including Sandy Munro, F-150 is the best work truck. And it's misleading to say that cybertruck is the best selling electric pick up. It's not even remotely close to the most popular pickup on the road. F-150 sold 700,000 gas trucks in addition to the EVs they sold, so when you say "best selling ev truck" it's like saying king of the smallest group in the room. In terms of truck sales, cybertruck is barely a blip on the radar. Don't lie. It's not good for the mission.
@@coryturke7336 - I agree - most people (more than 99% I would guess) care about all the technical stuff. It's also worth noting that the comments about being the best selling EV pickup are more of a snapshot in time. It will be a few years before the impact of CyberTruck sales on EV pickup truck will be fully understood - it may continue to accelerate or it may fizzle out - time will tell. You are also correct about the F150 [ICE] being the best work truck and that EV pickup trucks are just a blip - in the overall pickup truck market space, EV pickups represent less than 10% of annual sales of all pickup trucks. Again, to your point, it will be a few years before EV pickup trucks will begin to capture more than 10% IMHO. Overall electrification of transport will eventually bury ICE and we can see that happening now in China and some European countries. The 90 to 165 mile tow range is arguably the biggest problem that any electric truck manufacturer faces in selling them at scale, including Tesla. While early adopters and the top tier earners in society may desire to show off their wealth by owning what is obviously a luxury vehicle, reaching the broader market is going to take newer, better batteries than what is currently in the manufacturing que. Hahaha sell sell sell!!
Truck buyers are getting Hybrids.
@Dullard: If so, they're getting an overly complicated bastardized truck, which still requires all the maintenance of ICE. Good luck with that.
@@geoffgeoff3333 they seem to love them. Delighted by the gas mileage and range.
@@Dularr A few will love them, if they tow long distance, it's an edge case not a killer app.
People believe it's easier to live with the problems you know, rather than deal with problems you don't. Toyota has at least one hybrid model that is touted by influencers to easily last 200,300k miles if taken care of. The industry must follow suit on the issue of reliability if hybrids are to have a chance to beat all electric.
And cyber truck will only get better. They are in trouble
Yeah, Tesla's over-the-air software updates actually work.
The cyber truck is an ugly piece of junk that is useless. Cannot drive it in the rain. It is thenumber 1 selling pickup because all the fanboys thought they would be cool driving some weird piece of junk.
*It's hilarious all the people saying it's ugly yet outsells all other trucks, WHAT ARE THEY THEN.*
*MOST PRE-ORDERS,,,,,EVER!!!*
