    As always - it’s good to go back (if necessary several times) to basics

    Thanks a lot, for these explanations of the weight transfert...It's definitely not so easy as it looks. But I will train. 🙂

    Learning the side-to-side basic step was easy, but my problems came later when there were more turns and shifting positions.
    The important thing with the basic step is the pattern of weight transfer, not the direction of movement. You should be able to keep that pattern in different directions, and even if the direction changes.
    I solo practiced the box step a lot to get over it, clockwise and counter clockwise, both in a box in front of me and behind me. And then just fooling around doing some random zigzag or star patterns.

    Great advice, thanks. Suggestion, when focus is on legs improve visibility by wearing lighter colou or patterned tights to increase visibility, especially when background is dark: like your sofa! 😊

      Yes, I already spotted that. It's a bad decision. You are absolutely right 🥰.

    - Flip future videos... to fix the left right issue... 🤓
    - Please wear lighter coloured tights when dancing in front your couch... we lose your legs! 😅

    The word "energy" can be used for nearly everything in dancing. ;-) For people who know energy from Physics, the natural science of matter, it's confusing. The numbers are just the points in time when the forefoot touches the dance floor. In the time periods between there are the movements.

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  6 месяцев назад

      That's very good inside in dance, getting energy from the floor nears, putting foot in the floor, and pushing into it to feel like you can push from it to get more energy 😉.

    A question, I notice (at the end of the video around 10m) when you do the tap, even though you don't do a weight transfer on the tap, it seems you still move the hip as if there was a weight transfer (this looks very nice btw). I notice you move the hip in the direction of the tap. I can't seem to be able to do that. What are some tips to learn to do that last hip movement with the tap?

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  5 месяцев назад +1

      How we tap is an option, you can push in , you can do the hip like I do. Or do an empty tap. That could be a personal choice 😉.

    Great video, Rasa, really interesting. I am curious about the benefit of stepping and then transferring weight. It was a short video, so I don't think you had time to go into it, but what is the benefit of stepping like this? Usually with fundamentals, they are serving some purpose (rather than saying "do it this way because we say it's this way!"), but it's not immediately obvious to me. Is it something to do with smoothing out the movement, avoiding abrupt stops-and-starts?
    The other thing I want to ask is if this applies to Salsa? I often struggle with balance and have been told to keep my feet under my body weight when stepping forward and back. This helps and it’s the opposite of what you’re showing here. Does Salsa need a different basic because of the faster pace and quicker spins? Thanks again!

    • @DanceWithRasa
      @DanceWithRasa  5 месяцев назад +1

      This way to do you basic means you learn how to shift your weight correctly. That means when you do other footwork and travel in partnerwork, you always balance, look good, and always look like you dancing bachata 😉.
