*You laugh. You've done this before, right?* One behind you, 8 around it- wait. That's 9. There's 10. You frantically search for where it must be, and confusion sets in as you are unable to locate it. Then the tile beeps... And a realization sets in. The 10 tile IS the 10th bomb. And it has a timer.
I love how you can hear the dialing and ringing of an old fashioned phone in the song. Such a neat detail, reminds me of jokes about people playing minesweeper on their computers at work.
This moment in the game was both breathtaking and so unexpected. When the yellow face got brutalized by 10 and said with its last breath "It's you... you are the Minesweeper...", i cried. That moment made the final battle with 10 all the more emotional. Truly the game of all time.
I personally preferred the emotional post credits epilogue wherein the yellow face, among other things, hinted at an 11 mine final boss accessible only to those truly pure of heart.
1: Shoots little pellet bombs. Simple and easy 2: Revolving bombs around the screen, like pairs of dancers. Bombs are normal sized 3: Spread shot of bombs. Decent speed, normal bombs 4: Bombs "explode", spreading out in a quadrilateral pattern. Normal bombs 5: Wave pattern, similar to Galeem. Pellet bombs, but large quantities 6: A wall of bombs appears from either the left or right, and quickly moves to the other edge of the screen, but doesn't hit it. Pellet bombs 7: Bombs bounce from the corners of the screens. Large bombs 8: Bombs surround you and close in in quick succession. Normal bombs 9: Your keyboard turns into a Minesweeper field, and you have to solve it within a given time frame. 10: There's a mine in your house. Find and defuse it. No timer, but the more times 10 appears, the more mines appear. Traditional landmines
You stepped at a field and it reveals 10. "An old trick" you think and start filling 8 mines around it. You already know the 9th mine is right behind you, so you defuse it and... wait. There is something missing. A 10th mine cannot be found anywhere. Shivers start slowly run down your spine as you find out it's not the field itself. Your heartbeat increases rapidly as you realize one thing: you have literally no idea where that mine is. The time is passing, so you start running around the game field insanely checking every single spot while your heart beats faster. Suddenly, a terrible thought comes into your head. You immediately stop moving and take heed. A few moments later you start smiling. You softly begin laughing with every second your laugh turning into uncontrollable hysteria. Your feel your heart has almost reached its limit as you finally realize. This whole time 10th mine wasn't on a filed. It wasn't behind nor in front of you nor anywhere else. This whole time YOU were the mine. You feel your heart stop when you finally realize: this game is over.
Next up should be 0 as a secret boss, since a number on a tile means that there is at least 1 mine within one tile, but the zero says that there isn’t any mines within one tile, a true paradox
What I like about this one is that the 9 fight music sounds like you're frantically trying to save your own life, but the 10 fight music sounds like you're fighting for something bigger than yourself. Like your initial goal was to take out 9, only to discover 10 exists. After initial hesitation and fear, you decide to take it on before it can destroy anyone else.
I commented on the previous minesweeper final boss track that it felt more like a chapter boss theme (of the "the bastard is getting away with it" variety). THIS is the final encounter, when he's going to finally pay for everything he's done.
You did it. You beat 9. The floor and walls are cleared, and the timer is frozen at 10s. A door opens at the far end of the room, and you enter, finally ready to escape... _It's a maze. Full of Minesweeper tiles._ The screen from the previous room pops in. The 10s. The s *disappears.* _10_ Another timer appears in its place. *Five minutes* This time, its not just a box, it's a maze. You have to solve it within five minutes, or you die. Step on a stray mine, you die. *THIS IS IT. THE FINAL SWEEP. GET TO IT, AND SEE THE SUN ONCE AND FOR ALL!*
This is actually just for the 9 secret phase 2 boss fight. You unlock this phase if you defeat 9 with any weapon with the Legendary "Defuser" enchantment in under 3 minutes. This will trigger a hidden cutscene that leads to 9 transforming into 10, a bomb that can't be defused or triggered at inopportune time, as it's no machine, it's not even flesh and blood. It's an explosive from the heavens, Armageddon given a single, divine form to shrowd the world in darkness by smothering the stars in its holy light.
Okay, now I need 1 through 8. 1 would be a casual lo-fi type beat with the minesweeper lietmotif, and each subsequent number should become more and more intense, until 8 is the beginning of "9" before the speed up transition.
I literally got chills when the game crashed and then when I tried to boot it up again THE WINDOW BECAME A CRUSHER AND SLAMS DOWN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN WHICH CHIPPED IT SO YOU CAN SURVIVE THE NEXT ATTACK! SUCH A GOOD ATTACK, AND WHEN THE TIMERS APPEAR IN THE TOP OF THE SCREEN AND YOU HAVE TO CROSS A MINEFIELD TO CLOSE THEM BEFORE THEY EXPLODE?!
Wait, there’s only eight? Or so you thought.. Eight around you, one behind, and for the last. You’re on it.. 😅😅 You made a good run, but I still wasn’t good enough, for you are now stuck. As you wait, you can see the your phone, but it’s just out of reach. The kitchen, the haven of food, is a whole room away. As you begin to disarm it, it starts beeping. It a timed B00M!!
What i like about this fight is how the only way to even get this is by realizing that the true Minesweeper was the friends we made along the way, 10 only showing up after you and the yellow face discoves the power of friendship, it truly makes the moment where the yellow face gets brutalized by 10 that more emotional, you two were just about to put an end to it all but 10 reveals itself in the most cruel and vile way possible, it makes the final fight that more epic and emotional as previously mentioned by Theguywhoistheman1344, this truly TRULY is the game of all time. So much lore to discover, so much replayability, 9's fight was a great way to end this, but 10's fight and ending is simply otherworldly...
I really hope you'll consider the remaining numbers 1-8; each one is a boss but they progressively get more and more epic in music until you get to 9 and then 10 for the final bosses. That would be epic. I already listen to 9 and 10 on my way to work so it'd be cool to have a whole album set
Just imagine 9 rising from the ground, with a bright aura surrounding it, but then 10 rises behind, turns out it was 10's aura, easily gets 9 out of the way, and starts gunning for you Then a running sequence ensues
Prehaps... 8 around it there are 2 lefts, if we consoder that the tile is the bomb too this mean once you discovered it you have to flag it that's 9, THEN well 10th mine is obviously in you so go eat that flag
A bossfight for 11: not only is there a bomb above you, and not only is the tile a bomb, but YOU are the bomb, and you must defuse yourself before you blow up
You standing on a mine right now, defusing it as this comment is rewritten, theres another on your head, and the other eight surround you in an explosive manner(?)
11: unlocked by beating 10 with no damage taken and under the 9's rush effect (so you have to beat it fast; but the effect gives you 1.99x more DMG dealed than without it.) harder than 10; but lightly easier attacks. also 11 is 2 separate bosses, so its you vs 2 ones.
The ninth is behind you, but you are the tenth one
_"The mines might be a worthy foe, but could you ever defuse oneself?"_
-Sun Tzu, the art of defusing
Nah the tenth one is the friends we made along the way
Oh wo-
*blows up*
That can sound either badass or even scarier depending on how one interprets that.
The bomb inside her.
*You laugh. You've done this before, right?*
One behind you, 8 around it- wait. That's 9. There's 10.

The 10 tile IS the 10th bomb. And it has a timer.
The 10 on the tile does not represent how many bombs is around it, it represents the amount of seconds you have left
The entire boss fight is run on a timer that gets replenished slightly when you land hits, and depletes a bit quicker when you get hit
Where is the 9th bomb then?
it's behind you @@creepercraftytT99
Maybe you've defused the extra mine, but can you defuse TWO?????
"It was me all along, Player! I am the true Minesweeper!"
~10, Minesweeper
Technically the mines aren't mine sweepers, but mine placers.

1:25 why is this part so perfect though 😭😭
I like how effortlessly it shifts between Megaman, Castlevania, and then Touhou with the steel chair
With all these *bangers* you're dropping, it's hard to believe I haven't encountered a 10-mine yet.
Is it just me or does this seriously sound like Megaman music
You think you haven't encountered the 10th mine.
The 10th mine thinks otherwise.

10 isn't the number of bombs, its the seconds you have to solve the board
actually a cool mechanic if you gain time. like 2 seconds per tile uncovered or something tense like that.
I love the callback from 9's theme at 0:49
FL Slayer + Microsoft Sam + ZUNpets. And all that for doubled mines.

8 mines around it, the tile is the 9th... Where's the 10th? *Inside your chest.*
now waiting for ∞ tile
I think music from "meet the spy" would also fit nice
