Bombe is actually really fun. In the beginning it's pretty simple but closer to the end it gets extremely difficult. I'd definitely recommend playing it at least until you've unlocked the first 4 tabs/worlds cause then you've seen most of the fun things the game does
I just saw 200 new players check out Tetrisweeper, and my first thought was to check if a new Icely video came out. It did! Thanks for the shoutout, I always love to see more cursed minesweeper games!
I've tried searching for a minesweeper variant where the numbers tell the 5×5 area around the number instead of the 3×3. But I could never find anything, so I decided to make my own. Suffice to say, it is crazy.
On Minesveeper (the game shown at the start where every day is a new variant), there’s a day for Large Mines in the 2023 advent calendar. A large mine is seen by cells in a 5 by 5 area around them.
I know DemonCrawl, which is a Minesweeper rogue-like that gets progressively harder with items and etc. but then I remembered that it's not that cursed of a variant
The main quest mode in Demoncrawl may not be that cursed, but what about its Arena mode? I think autobattler minesweeper qualifies as suitably deranged.
If you're bored and want to try another "variant" of minesweeper, I'd recommend this one I saw a while back. Someone made a mod for a Touhou game (it's a bullet hell), and one of the things they added was minesweeper. For reference, see the attached link. I think I copied it at the correct time, but if not, it's around 21:44 where they start playing the mode. ruclips.net/video/DrUb6qHxWF4/видео.html (For anyone who doesn't want to watch the video, the mode includes playing minesweeper normally and fighting against a minesweeper "boss" similar to 2:55 in this video, but in Touhou's style.)
I really appreciate some of my variants being shown in the first two minutes. Thank you! 0:30 The logic on that one isn't that bad but it certainly takes a bit of getting used to.
Also I am DEFINITELY going to have to play at least a few of the games in the video cause they look so good and I knew almost none of them (especially that minesweeper incremental/idle piques my interest)
I feel like the hyperbolic minesweeper could be an excellent prank of sorts. While the board is off camera (obscured by the hyperbolic view), make the board slightly larger. It's so disorientating that you'd only catch on after the board has expanded like 4 or 5 times
1:36 Oh, hey Geometry Dash. I play that game. Also programming stuff in Geometry Dash naitively doesn’t have any abstraction to it such as functions. This why the GD creator Spu7Nix specifically made a programming language called SPWN to convert code into Geometry Dash triggers in order to make coding complex things in the editor easier. The 1st update to the game in over 6 years is scheduled to release later this month and the only reason it took so long is due to major scope creep. It’s going to multiply the amount of content in the game by at least 2.
0:57 The '2' directly above the empty cell tells you there are two mines in the three cells above the number block. The '2' directly above that other '2' tells you there are two mines in a six-cell block including the previous three cells... so the three other cells at the top of that block are all clear.
I once considered making a minesweeper variant that had changing terrain, to somewhat simulate an active conflict. Idea was every turn (defined as 10 clicks), there was a % chance that an event would happen, where events could be things like an enemy deploying more mines to the field via artillery, which would reset an area and make visible numbers out of date. It worked, but unfortunately it just didn't add as much as I hoped to the experience, and I abandoned the concept.
@@sr.favopossodeixarvaziosim4595 Heh, yeah, kinda. Inspiration actually was the the first defense of Vuhledor (sp?). My events included: - artillery deployed mines already described. - friendly tank incursion: tanks would move down a column and had a 60% chance to detonate each time they encountered an unflagged mine. Tanks getting across gave rewards. Sometimes tanks would have mine-removal equipment attached, which would remove the first mine only. - enemy tank incursion: same as above, except only flagged mines detonate tanks and you get rewards for destroying them. - enemy drone deployment: 5 3x3 spots on the map would get reset, one of which would now have a mine. - enemy sniper deployed: checking areas and flagging mines now costs 2 clicks (speeds up rate of events), persists until 3 events have triggered.
