    I find certain parts of this video quite confusing. Firstly, is there a study that was done, from where you are deriving this information from? Secondly, what kind of study was it and what was the sample size of patients involved? Most importantly, if the alzhemer's patients were Keto-adapted and had widespread ketone burns, was there any improvement in their condition? From what I understood, both the patients in the control as well as the one with injected ketones had some form of alzheimer's. What then, was the rate of improvement, if any?

It's 2023 and I realize no one from your group may be reading comments on this particular video anymore. The slide where you explain where glucose comes from, the word "dessert" is misspelled. It's the "desert" on the slide. On the slide where you explain where ketones come from the word "mayonnaise" is misspelled. It should have two "n". Thanks again for all you do!

    If the brain is starving from glucose energy then why force the brain to use ketones? Just eating heigh complex carb diet produce good amount of glucose right? Please explain why use ketones when brain naturally prefers glucose?

    • @destinyknightthiefoffate
      @destinyknightthiefoffate 6 месяцев назад +1

      Because of insulin resistance. The cells in the brain have become insulin resistant and the glucose in the blood cannot get into the brain cells. Eating more glucose would jus cause insulin resistance to get worse. Switching to burning ketones and using ketones for fuel instead reverses insulin resistance and the brain cells can use the ketones for fuel instead.

    Okay, here's my question. I get it that insulin resistance causes the brain to be energy deprived which is when it starts using ketones. But, could it be that in healthy brains and bodies which are not insulin resistant, the brain prefers glucose? That it only uses ketones when it can't process glucose and is basically starving? Very interested to hear your take. Thank you!

    • @Pravda_Z

      This video comes to the conclusion that healthy brains will always prefer beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB -ketone body) over glucose. That's the point of this video.

    • @evalocke2513
      @evalocke2513 6 месяцев назад +1

      Great question. I was wondering the same thing. I hope she, or someone, can answer this. Dr. Joseph Mercola is now saying that "While ketones are generally known to be good for your brain and lower inflammation, your brain cannot function on ketones alone. It requires glucose. If you do not consume enough carbs, your body will sacrifice muscle tissue to make the glucose it needs." Also, that "Your body activates the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline in order to produce ketones. And this is dangerous long term." He claims he is now consuming 500 to 600 grams of carbs a day, mostly from fruit! I've been strict BBBE carnivore for over 7 months now and doing great. I hope Mercola is wrong, but I'm now a bit concerned.

  • @bidnow2946
    @bidnow2946 5 лет назад

    16:36 is the key message that needs to be reinforced as to "Why?" before you even move to the "adding ketones" phase. As you said, the bloodstream continues to provide adequate (and even excess) glucose for people with Alzheimer's, but their brain cells are no longer using it. This is the key point of Insulin Resistance that needs to be explained here. I like to compare a young healthy brain cell to a corn flake (yea, I know) and an aged Alzheimer's brain cell to a sugar frosted corn flake. I think that this analogy can be useful to help others visualize how new glucose may have a harder time making it through the sugar coating (glycation) on the brain cells and over time lead to Advanced Glycation End-products (AGE) effects.

      More accurately, the brain can survive with no "consumption" of glucose. Your liver will make all the glucose your brain needs.

    The brain can’t run entirely on ketones. This study they supplemented with ketones. That’s not the same as being on a Keto diet, and the brain has no glucose other than gluconeogensis. Which is probably why studies have shown the dangers to the liver and kidneys from the constant strain on them to keep the blood sugar levels from being too low. I would not recommend putting children on Keto diet unless have seizures. You are risking damage to the liver and kidneys for the reward of brain health when there is not enough information to be conclusive for what you are concluding. It’s also been shown cannabis can combat epilepsy/seizures and promotes brain health. I wouldn’t recommend keto unless someone has brain damage or some kind of brain disease, and even then it’s more of using ketones as supplement vs keto diet

    Dr Boz I’m a little confused you say that it’s healthier to train your brain to use ketones but the most unhealthy brain that has Alzheimer’s is using the most ketones per glucose ratio so why then is that causing all the issues?

    • @DoctorBoz
      @DoctorBoz  2 года назад +3

      That unhealthy brain (the one that had Alzheimer’s) got it by ONLY USING Glucose. When ketones were returned to the options, that diseased brain was successful in using the ketones within 4 days from exposure to the ketones.

      @@DoctorBoz👍👍👍👍👍 yes, was also confused & believe I must hv missed the point.
      A friend of mine has been discouraging me to do low carb b/c she said prolong period of low carb WILL FRIED my brain & human brain & body is made to be fueled by Carb & only by ketone when needed in an emergency. So it is unnatural and damaging for health to be in prolong ketosis & I am IF too often.
      I didn't know how to refute her, but IF & low Carb has kick me off Diabetic meds, reduced 24kg to date since mar2023. First time feeling more alive & younger since I was diagnosed with diabetes since 1999.
      If our medical system has not been misled into the wrong direction, I would not have developed multiple complications: Retinopathy, Neuropathy, Nephropathy & tripple heart-bypass (likely calcium & metformin) and other minor related health issues.
      Thank you very much for equiping us with the knowledge to reign victorious over this nemesis.
