On point, I foresee a recession lasting 2-3 years, and if inflation continues to surge, the Federal Reserve will likely raise interest rates soon. Inflation is causing various issues worldwide, such as food shortages, scarcities of diesel and heating fuel, and significant spikes in housing prices, leading to a potential financial market crash. This global downturn could have long-lasting repercussions. Given the current inflation rate of approximately 9%, my main worry is how to optimize my savings and retirement fund, which has remained stagnant at around $300,000, yielding almost no gains for quite some time.

My 1st job after college was aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today I'm a VP at a global company, own 3 rental properties, invest in stocks and biz, built my own business, and have my net worth increase by $500k in the last 4 years.

My point is, you shouldn't have to do that just to survive, nowadays you have to be living with a roommate or family in order to afford rent. Nobody is going outside so making connections is not easy either, and the skills that we want to develop and study for a better career, School is too expensive to afford for that. Following your passion is out the window now because that's not gonna cover the bills and the only option left is to pray that the money you do have saved up doesn't get all thrown away with a medical bill. I completely agree with you. I’ve made so many sacrifices, living in cheaper areas, cheaper homes, cheaper clothes, no expensive outings or vacations, so many things I’ve given up. I always remind myself to work hard now so I can enjoy later. Others are just not willing to make the sacrifices it takes. Live well below your means so you can save. Pretend you are at poverty line for a couple years, your future self will thank you.

There are few institutions in the US that doesn't have unserviceable debt. This will become clearer as the Fed waits to make rate cuts. At the same time rate cuts will be disastrous. The Fed is between a rock and a hard place : damned if it does cut the rates and damned if it doesn't. My hunch is that the Fed will hold the rates for the rest of this year going into the next year allowing deeply indebted people and firms to go under.
I wish playing poker recently and talking with players about the fact that America doesn't educate their children about money. A young man from India mentioned that their education system does actually teach their kids about stocks and stuff. I thought that was very interesting.

I thought I was the only one that noticed this, but everything is slowing down. I have a construction company. I have been working every day but the last few months nobody is calling me people don’t want to spend money on home-improvement when the price of everything else goes up.
Consultant here, 25 years. I have nothing to do right now as most of our work involves studies and reports of buildouts in agricultural processing. Money is tightening up out there unless you already have money on the books (cash), and that trickles down to workers like me sitting around with nothing to do. Worst I've seen in 25 years in this business.

I think the nervous system is a big deal. Often just being stressed about the issue blocks ability to deal with it, being able to calm down and think clearly so you can best assess and use resources to gain more resources and skills would give you the best chance regardless of how good the chance is or isn’t that would probably be core. Being able to control yourself and your feelings and ability to focus seems important to the rest.

All I can say is, the difference between the last depression than the one coming is huge. Back then, most if not all who lived outside major Metropolitan areas owned their own home,and grew and canned their own food. Even had livestock in many cases, or they could buy/ barter from their neighbors. This will be so so so much worse. Over 250 million more people in America now than there was back then, and almost no one is self sufficient. That's a major disaster in the making right there by itself.

Nice video. I grew up in labor politics. To me, the unions striking world wide and gaining ground, means that wages have a chance to stabilize in the middle class. I have always seen collective bargaining in the industrial/commercial sectors of production/development, as the forefront of how to tell the direction of middle class common wages, although obviously there are going to be other factors.
