If you're in the area, I can highly recommend a trip to Skipton via Cross Hills. If you go to Keighley and get a 66 bus it goes through Cross Hills and then on to Skipton. Cross Hills has quite a lot of really nice micro-pubs and a brewery with a bar as well. Gallaghers Ale House, Funky Monkey, Bar 22 and a new one that I can't remember the name of and then Craven Brewery. Skipton has loads of nice pubs and micro bars, plenty to choose from, including the multi-award winning Beer Engine.
Richard Oastler was a parliamentary Industrial Reformer, he described the Workhouses as "Prisons for the poor". Richard fought industrialists to shorten their factory working hours, he was loved by the working class, they called him the "Factory King". The Richard Oastler pub was originally a chapel, it later became an indoor market hall. It was disused for some time before Wetherspoon's purchased it.
Thanks for giving our little town such a great review! You’ve been in pubs I’ve never been in even though I’ve lived in this town all my life!
You have the patience of a saint. The places were so packed I would have sacked it off. Great job
