John Krazinski was a great version of HIS Reed Richards, one who has gone through 5 movies worth of story arcs that made him warmer and more understanding than he is typically portrayed. However, I wouldn’t be mad if the main MCU timeline had a Reed that was more accurate to his core personality: he has the biggest brain in the universe, and he knows it because he also has the biggest ego. He is very much a Spock type character, someone who puts logic before emotions, and Krazinski played the exact opposite of that. Instead of trying to defeat Wanda to reduce the amount of damage she is likely to do, Krazinski instead chose to appeal to her emotions and relatability as a parent as a means of subduing Wanda. This isn’t something that a fresh Reed Richards would do, and while I have some faith in Krazinski, I’m unsure if he could pull off cold & narcissistic super well bc I’ve never seen him play a role like that. I’d be fine either way!

I think it actually makes sense that Reed warned Wanda about Black Bolt. In his universe, Ultron was perfected. So Pietro likely is still alive, and Wanda never becomes the Scarlet Witch. Westview never happens; she never ends up reshaping reality. So Reed had no idea that Wanda could do any of that.

Now with some context, I could see how the whole “Black bolt can destroy you” line wasn’t really that dumb of him. He was attempting to save her, and what he said was a threat to scare her. No way could he have predicted that Blackbolt would get his mouth erased.
The only dumb thing was the attack he did afterwards. What was his plan there? To stretch his arms and grab her?

Yeah. If he could bind her hands that would be most of her powers. Also he was sacrificing himself. He's by far the most durable hero there and if the others would have done something moderately effective while she was trying to kill the guy that's super hard to kill it might have worked out.

I actually want Krasinski to return for the Fantastic Four movie. Man only had a minute of screen time, and the problems with Reed in MoM are in the writing, not in his performance. I can't judge how well someone is cast as a character when they don't have much to do.

I was the body double for Black Bolt in this scene & the Titan scene. It took all the professionalism in me to keep it together. This set was amazing. Hayley Atwell was hot as hell sitting next to me. Sam Raimi introduced Pat Stewart to me as “Sir Patrick”. Coolest memory during the pandemic, hands down.

While I think Reed Richards in this universe leaves a lot to be desired, but getting John Krasinski is a step in the right direction. I really hope he plays Reed in Fantastic Four, I was sold on day one when I heard of the rumors of him being in the role. I think with better writing and directing, he could be a fantastic Reed Richards. Emphasis on FANTASTIC.
John Krasinski wasn’t the problem with this movie nor was he bad in the role, I think he was quite good in the little bit he had to do. The problem was the bad writing is all which has been a major problem in the MCU for a while. As far as his performance, John Krasinski captured the character quite well. Reed Richards is supposed to be a loveable fatherly figure who is a fair bit out of touch with people & somewhat reserved not because of his intelligence per se but because he’s autistic yet always wants to find a peaceful solution by appealing to the humanity in enemies & to only use violence if the villain isn’t willing to cooperate.
Came to the comments for the Jim references. Was not disappointed.

I don’t know why they had one of the most charismatic and comedically inclined actors play a self serious stone faced Mr. Fantastic, especially in the same exact movie where Dr. Strange, one of Marvel’s more serious heroes is constantly making one-liners. I guess John Krasinski went for a more serious role in A Quiet Place and that worked out alright, but for a character that bends like a stretch Armstrong doll and Carries the nickname “Mr. Fantastic”, I’d expect a bit more of that Jim Halpert energy and charisma. If they wanted to make him so serious for 5 minutes before bodying him, they could’ve just used Miles Teller as a disposable Reed. I don’t think anyone would miss Fant4stic Reed lmao

People who poke fun at how the smartest man alive revealed Black Bolt's powers really piss me off and it shows how clueless they are about Marvel in general.
1)They were fighting a woman piloting an innocent woman's body.
2) They could only possibly know of Wanda on their Earth and did not believe Strange when he says she can change reality at will. They have implicit instructions from Strange of their Earth to not trust any other Strange as they believe him to be the greatest threat to the multiverse.
3) They are heroes. Imagine if the heroes in the other movies did the same and just killed on sight. Like Batman in BvS who says he does not kill but later 3D prints someone's face on a wooden box. It's heroic to risk it to save even one life.
4) One of Reed's biggest character flaws from the comics is being cocky. He is prone to making "dumber" decisions based on the idea that it would be impossible for him to fail. It's very in-character.
Possibly, he was trying to resolve things in a peaceful manner. This can be shown when he tries to empathise with Wanda by mentioning his own children. He knew exactly what her struggle was and tried his best to connect with it. In a way, this reveals his intelligence since he tried to find solutions beyond the obvious violent one.
See, Earth 616's Mr Fantastic is ACTUALLY the smartest man alive. I hope they have Krasinski in another show from 616 and he says something like "Yeah that was really stupid telling Wanda about Blackbolt's powers. I wouldn't have done that."

When I saw the movie on the first night of its release, I thought like a Iron man variant was gonna show up and i was completely shocked when I saw John’s Reed richards I hope he comes back!
Honestly, the fate of this Reed Richards was only done so for the plot. Obviously the smartest person alive wouldn't just do that, but he wasn't a key character in the movie, so they treated him as a character who would get in the way and simply got rid of him.
They could have the Illuminati have a supporting role the same way Tobey and Andrew had a supporting role in No Way Home. There were so many missed opportunities in this movie they could have explored and teased. The fantastic four needed redemption on film but instead this movie turns Reed Richards and his genius into a joke.
Everyone laughing till he brings out the wooden gun
