Abandoned Dairy Queen Wintersville, OH. I love the look of this older style Dairy Queen. It was franchised owned. I love how it looks like one of a kind.
This DQ closed around 2009-2010, so it's been abandoned for quite some time. I remember going here when I was little, and they had an arcade PacMan game! The newly built one replaced the DQ in Steubenville. This one holds some great memories.
I just came across your video. Love it. I worked in that DQ for 8 years. Paul Meyers and Sam (can't remember his last name) built and opened this DQ and the one in Hollywood Plaza in Steubenville. They had some business disagreements so they split. Sam kept the one down in Hollywood Plaza while Paul kept this one. Paul was the absolute best boss ever. I worked my way up to manager,. He also owned a jewelry store and another business too. He sold the DQ to a younger couple that had no idea how to run a business. I tried working for them for a while but they were running it in the ground. Then they sold out to the guy who owned the Wellsburg DQ. The parking lot used to be bigger and easier to get in and out of but when they widened Main Street to 5 lanes, it made it way too hard to get out of and business really dropped off. It didn't help that the owners along the way did not maintain the building and it needed too many repairs. We were opened all year round and the cold air drafts in the winter in that place were unreal. After the construction of Main Street, the store flooded in the front from the lack of drainage on Main Street. It was sad to see it close but anyone who lived in the area could see that it struggled for quite a while before they gave up on it.
That Dairy Queen building has been torn down. They’re putting in a medical marijuana dispensary in its place. In 2012 me and my friend went in there through a back kitchen door that was unlocked. The wallpaper was peeling from the ceiling, and everything was still in place, including the freakin toppings. He stole a bunch of gift cards lol. Thanks for coming to our town, dude!
Oh god, that old style building and old logos... I hate when they torn down old building. I get that they need to replace them because abandoned building serve no purpose but it still annoy me anyway. I feel like destroying buildings that have many decades on them is so sad...
This one closed in the very early 2010s, leaving the DQ at Hollywood City Center in Steubenville open. Last year, however, they opened the newer DQ in between the two old ones of Steubenville and Wintersville, which was a good idea, in my opinion. Plus they built a new one in Weirton by the Kmart that you filmed. But, yes, I do miss this one! A remarkable place! It was actually boarded up for quite some time, but was more of an eyesore than it is now, so they removed them. There was even a jukebox in this one, if I remember correctly. And, yes, it was closed through the wintertime. Great video, as always!
That is definitely an old Dairy Queen - they don't even make the Mr. Misty anymore! (At least, they don't USE the Mr. Misty name anymore.) I think the Brazier name has been discontinued as well. What a great find! 👍
A DQ in my area kept its Brazier sign forever... well, until strong winds blew the sign down, directly on to the outdoor seating (thankfully no one was sitting there). They quickly put a new "Grill n Chill" sign up.
Matt Reeves Ouch... Glad no one got hurt. There used to be a 'Brazier' sign on the DQ near my home in Wooster, but it vanished when the place was remodeled some years ago.
I think the older style looks way cooler compared to how they look now. Gotta love that old jingle. "IN THE LAND OF DAIRY QUEEN WE TREAT YOU RIGHT." Not sure if they use that anymore.
There is one in Beavercreek, Ohio that has that old look and logo.It is still operating! It has been since 1956!It might be the oldest Dairy Queen ever!
I grew up right by that DQ. My friend marcus worked at that one for a while back in the day. Used to get free stuff all the time. I can remember my mom taking me after soccer games when I was a little kid. I'm 33 now. Damn time flies.
So funny WallieB26 how timing works sometimes😯when I got this vlogs notification earlier today I was in Avon Lakes DQ eating a Brazier big ass Mushroom&Swiss Burger basket with the biggest root beer float they had.Awesome😛When Warren Buffets Berkshire Hathaway purchased the corporate arm of Dairy Queen a dozen or so years ago Buffet told franchise owners they had to within a certain period of time upgrade their outlets to what you saw nearby the new Grill & Chill stores and to those owners that wouldn't lost their franchise. That's why people see now a lot of old school stores now closed or torn down. For the franchise owners a very expensive ultimatum indeed. We're lucky here in our DQ🍀 owner must have deep pockets for they had this DQ decorated for Halloween so good I took pictures and posted them in my Google review of this DQ for anyone on this earth to see.🌎
This dairy queen was recently torn down. I'm from wintersville left many years ago and glad I did. That whole area is a sad mess was much better when I was a kid.
I have a closed dairy queen in my town and it has been sitting since 2016 close to 2017 so it's been sitting For 4 years My dairy queen closed because flies and roaches would be inside a lot of people reported it it closed one time before and then reopened but in 2016 they closed it with no particular announcement
@Babei Ilie it can be a number of things. Bankruptcies, not paying taxes, health code violations, bad area, not enough business to stay afloat. Sometimes people just retire or relocate too. Can be a number of things.

Also a pac man video arcade game. 🙂
Like the video & respect to Bolt Thrower. Never got to see them.
I love that band. I wish we could all see them perform again but sadly that'll never happen but I respect the heck out of the band.

There's a DQ in Decatur, Texas that's still got an old school feel to it. Felt like walking into the 80s
What? I’ve lived in Steubenville all my life, traveled this road so May times and I ain’t never seen this before.
Brazier-that was the best! Bring those burgers of the 80's back! Great views, WB! I do the same with words and names... 👍
Maybe being in this area, it was the twins that preferred chocolate and were not nice to their vanilla guests that ruined it.
This was a great video keep up the good work

I used to go there in the early 70's!
I remember going in there wen I was little and my sister work there at some time years ago
That is REALLY old school design. Must be from the early '60s, maybe even late '50s. Don't remember DQ looking like that even in the '70s.
They were like that in the early 2000s I looked back on Google Maps
I miss going to dairy Queen as a kid
Did they stop serving burgers and fries so they scraped the paint off the sign?
This dairy queen was recently torn down. I'm from wintersville left many years ago and glad I did. That whole area is a sad mess was much better when I was a kid.
You should do grocery store&movie theater videos
That one was a classic
We have seasonal Dairy Queen here where I live..I wish it was open all year round.
Very nice job.
Cool vidow..I like DQ to!.A lot to choose from tho.
I would love to be able to buy this & make it into a vintage diner!

Ohhh thats cool!
There's an old DQ in Coraopolis, but this one was way cooler. You could give a try, though. 😊
My local Dairy Queen had a sign similar to this one, before it burnt down in 2009
That place looks so rough. I think it needs a wrecking ball instead!
Of course save all those cool exterior signs first ;)
My aunt lives so close to that
Should be a museum.
I guess this location closed in the late 2000's/early 2010's? 🤔
Jonah Cole 2009.
We have a dq in Butler pa that is doing quite well though it is located right beside the high school certainly helps be safe
I have a closed dairy queen in my town and it has been sitting since 2016 close to 2017 so it's been sitting For 4 years My dairy queen closed because flies and roaches would be inside a lot of people reported it it closed one time before and then reopened but in 2016 they closed it with no particular announcement
That’s crazy that the whole restaurant inside is gutted but they never took any of the signs down

That building looks fairly old, probably built in either the '60s or '70s.
0:32 Why do they censored closed? Because the "S" is replaced with a "$" Dollarsign or they don't had a "S" anymore. Thats funny. XD
