They still do change their flavors quite often. At least around here, the marketing strategy is to have about 2-4 permanent flavors and 1-2 cycling flavors, depending on how many flavors the store carried.
I’ve worked at a summer camp’s store for the last 2 summers, and probably will again this coming year. We sell these to the campers, and they make up a significant amount of the camp’s income. Can someone explain to me why there is a difference in carbonation between Canada and the USA? I've been a Canadian Slurpee consumer for decades, and while the drinks are carbonated, it's not super-noticeable, and there is no burst of pressure when the dispensing handle is turned (which makes sense, because carbon dioxide is soluble in water at low temperatures, and there's enough liquid in a Slurpee to dissolve most of the CO2). However, when I went to Hawai'i, I had a Slurpee, and when you opened the nozzle of the machine, it released a whole bunch of pressure, the beverage came shooting out, and the texture of the drink was _frothy_ (VERY different to the Slurpees I'd become used to). I've noticed the same thing in other states as well. Even the nozzle looks different in the American 7-Elevens (it's metal, whereas Canadian ones are plastic). Clearly, Slurpees are being made differently, and yet people treat them as a uniform thing.
We had mini versions of these at my middle school. I personally didn’t like them, but I know a lot of others did. But we do have a froyo machine at my high school that is amazing.

So dose 7-11 still get their slurpees from icee? I mean I know you said the patents expired but I assume the original licensing agreement had stipulations attached to their ability to use the name. I am just curious if the 7-11 still has to license anything from icee….. I tried to google it but I just end up with the Wikipedia articles that don’t cover that and some poorly written blog posts about it that don’t seem reliable.
funny how russians are well known for eating an ice cream during their coldest days while less known fact that canadians drink a slurpee during their coldest days -
I worked nights in a 7-11 when I was trying to go to college. One of my duties was to put the Slurpee machine on WASH. It just stopped the refrigeration and let the ice chunks melt, there was no soap involved. My favorite time to have a Slurpee was about 2or 3 AM. The Slurpee got a lot less stiff an was easier to drink. I had a customer that was a regular at 2:30 AM to get a Slurpee for that reason.

I thought, with the Dairy Queen hook it was going to be about the "Mister Misty" slush drink sold at Dairy Queen. Did Dairy Queen steal his idea?
So dose 7-11 still get their slurpees from icee?
I mean I know you said the patents expired but I assume the original licensing agreement had stipulations attached to their ability to use the name. I am just curious if the 7-11 still has to license anything from icee…..
I tried to google it but I just end up with the Wikipedia articles that don’t cover that and some poorly written blog posts about it that don’t seem reliable.
asking the real questions.
The Hook brings you back.
Wow it's like I'm really watching TV with interrupting ads and everything. True innovation.
Wow. When I was a kid and even young adult, I wouldn't buy ICEE if I could help it. I was a loyal Slurpee customer. I feel so silly.

I remember getting icee’s at the roller rink concession stand in grade school. Good memories.
I'd have a icee machine in my house if I could. I love them! Cherry and Coke are my favorite and I mix them
Sadly, you can't use the double gulp cup for the flipping slurpy 😔😔😔😔😔
You can at some places, the 711 I go to most actually replaced their slurpee cups (and straws, unfortunately) with the big gulp ones.
Nice to meet you - subscribed! Thank you!!!
