UNBOXING HIDEOUS PROJECT GUITAR - IT'LL BE WORTH IT!!!!

- Here is the unboxing for what's going to be a project guitar that will in the end be all worth it. I've been on the hunt for one of these for YEARS, decades to be exact. They just never ever pop up. So few of them are out there, and when I saw this for sale I watched it like a hawk! I had a ballpark number on what I was willing to pay for it based on its condition, and just what some DIYer did to it. It needs a bit of work, especially a resurface/repaint!!! Fortunately I know people who can make this thing completely a dream come true, so I could not pass this up. There will be a handful of videos to go along with this first video to show the progress of this restoration. I'm very excited to see how it's going to turn out!

I dare you to paint it NOT black.
It would look cool in a matt white finish.
No I triple dog dare you to paint it black.
Has to be black or it's firewood
What do you mean, like dark grey?
Red beasts always looked the sickest to me
Good God this needs a complete over haul badly!!!
To put it lightly!
Looks like somebody loved that guitar and used it a lot. Might have played out with it all that checking on the paint. It's seen some major climate changes.
Idk what y'all are seeing that guitar is beautiful to me
Hearing Kevin call it a 'Heavy' guitar, I think of it being made from lead.... or a Neutron star!
Whoa...the headstock. It was crucified. It needs a resurrection. You'll have a beast when it's done.
I was recently eyeing that one on Reverb. You sneaky devil!
I believe I saw it also
Can't wait to see the final product !
That blue color looks like an old Lego that was left in the yard. Can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s done.
Good luck on the competition and I can’t wait to see this beast finished!
Can't wait to see how it comes together. Awesome project!
Green looks good on the beast too. I saw one of those on reverb recently
Magnificent guitar. With some arrangements and painted black it will look spectacular.
Looking forward to seeing your project updates on this.
Nice hope to see more of the build as it goes along
love your videos dude. My favorite part is that with each video I'm always learning something new. I'm Dyslexic so at times I have trouble. But with your videos I dont have that problem. something just clicks in my head then I get it and understand it. The way you go about doing your videos and how you explain yourself makes it very easy for me to understand. I appreciate your hard work and much respect. Keep being you and stay brutal 🤘🤘
YOU BOUGHT THAT THING!!! THATS AWESOME! i was like man that eould be a wicked husk once it was totally redone! Good score!
Another Beast in the collection! It already looks sick asf I can’t wait to see how it’s gonna turn out in the future!
Man can't wait to see the finished product. :)
Can't wait to see the final result!
I think it’ll look great the way you plan to restore it, Kevin. Dave from Manticore used to play a black one of those.
Dude killin it!
I feel ya on the guitar search. I’ve been looking for 30 years for an 80’s Jackson King V but without a Kahler and 22 frets. Only 1 time have I seen one and of course… I didn’t have the money.
The two bolts on the back of the neck are supposed to be there and it's a good idea to keep the duel strap locks so the guitar doesn't rest to far back when it hangs off you. Really cool guitar.
That finish checking is intense. Best of luck man 🤘
Army green matte and black semi gloss matte camo. Call it the "Warhammer".
That's going to be very cool. I think you'll be happy with the Wilkinson tuners, I've used Wilkinson several times on project guitars and have never had any issues. Can't wait to see the updates.
That’s sick
Rad new axe project!! And good luck at the comp next week!💪💪
Sick video bro!!
Dude, thats gonna be a great project.
I feel the same about custom shop. You could go boutique at that point. My old teacher had a really nice boutique acoustic
Hell yea man revamp is gonna look sick on that what I recommend you could possibly do is paint it black and do red blood splatter on the points
I almost bid on that. I wanted it bad but I have too many projects and decided not to. You got that for a great price, Kevin.
Might be cool to try paint/coat the guitar while keeping those cracks underneath, looks like it has been through battle.
Dammit Frasard! Your videos never disappoint!
Bright neon green, be bold lol no I have always had a soft spot for bc rich. Looking forward to the finished project. Have good one my dudes.
Dude keep that beautiful shade of blue!
I got some guitar hero guitars and felt like missed out by not unboxing them on RUclips, thanks for the tip to document on video to verify any possible shipment damage
Those screws between the nut and tuners on the B and E strings are to help with the angle of the string getting to the tuners on the widow style stock. Seems like they'd be more helpful on a hardtail with a regular nut than a locking nut, but at least it keeps the string path on the stock and not blowing off the sides of it. I also think a Gotoh 96 trem would be dope on this thing. I prefer it over the floyd 1000 personally.
I Like the Ironbird, Bich, and Mockingbird more, but the beast was one of the first super Extreme shapes i fell in love with. Definitely A guitar That will make whoever is playing it stand out
Sick. Also the 1996T is a kick ass system, I put one on my 82 Washburn A-20V and it sounds and feels great.
Lots of checking on that guitar looks like it's seen some major temperature changes. You should paint it blood red or do black with blood spatter cool find.
This is sick, I saw this guitar listed on eBay a couple months ago😂
Love the Beast bro. You need to use that blacker than the blackest black times infinity paint that absorbs all light.
Hey, I hope your health is doing well now! I remember you making a video about trying to use medication to get your thyroid levels back into good range! Hope everything is good prayers
Awesome, not only did you score a custom shop model, you scored a 27 fret one as well as being 7 string. Awesome plunder. You are seriously going to do this guitar perfect just know it. Frasard be sure to take off all that paint, and fill the cracks with Max CLR mixed with 10% silica because they didn't seal that wood, then seal that wood real good with wood sealer. Then it shall hold paint like no other.
It really is hideous, but I can see big potential. This is gonna be great, I'm excited to see updates!
Ahahahaha the ending got me by surprise lmao XD
That thing fucks lmao
Stoked to see you work on this thing dude.
Flat black ❤❤❤would look sick with
Invaders pick ups Or bareknuckles
Honestly it looks good! And looks like a guitar that will play like a million bucks. Doesn’t look bad, I was thinking cracked neck or body or something. Definitely would have a pro do it, and that’s a cool guitar.
I just threw a Gotoh bridge on my Razorback after the old one broke. I very highly recommend one. I like it better than my floyd rose original
The gotoh trem you mentioned is amazing!! I have one on my Ibanez and it truly just feels beautiful to play and stays in tune like a mfff!!! Cheers 🍻✌🏼
I dont think I've seen a 7string Gotoh
Kickass axe, Kev! That TRS PRO looks like a Takeuchi bridge, which isn't half bad when properly adjusted, man! Maybe you could just keep it and use that money for other parts.
Hope it's an inexpensive and very quick overhaul. Can't wait to hear you play on that. Maybe something Deicide-ish, that's a killer shirt you were wearing!
A few days ago i found a used Mockingbird Plus for $450, it has a floyd 1000 to my knowledge. Gonna be working snd saving up to get it
Man it would be even more sick if you deleted the neck pickup and just had one knob and bridge pickup. All blacked out and stealthy, an absolute demonic beast of an instrument. Those rear cavity covers definitely need recessed haha
A little rough but definetly fixable. I'd pop for an OG FR myself but my style is very EVH influenced so I use a fair amount of trem work. For someone that doesn't they're definetly not the worth the price and I've never had an issue with any FR1000.
It's gonna be one sick guitar when it's all done up. Can't wait to see and hear it. Good luck at your show next week brother!!!
I am STOKED to see how this comes out!! Hahah Stay Detuned 🤘
I know exactly what I would do if I had this guitar. It's gonna look sick when it's done.
I also have a project guitar that I used to do experiments on but it's gonna be my next proper rebuild in the coming months. It's a BC Rich Warlock Revenge Model. Blacked out the fretboard already and handrolled the fretboard edges. As paint fumes are a major headache and I no longer have the space to paint I'm gonna carbon wrap it. It's gonna sound evil when it's done.
Monsters... Listem my Band DARK CANDLES
Nice shirt dude
Ngl the color is better and layout is cooler than the generic black beast, the purple is sick ngl
9:57 yes dude hahah! 🤘🏻
that poor ax... can't wait to see how you make it a complete monster.
I have no doubt you’ll kick its ass!!!
Sick 7 string!
Crackle paint job would be sick
Hi Kevin, The base for a project s super cool but current image status is rather debatable ;D the cross rulez ;D put these some sick pick ups
I was eyeing this one but all them knobs and switches made me turn away 😂
ok, not gonna lie, that color is kinda cool
Bet you'd play a good mary had a little lamb
Awesome. I have a 1980’s Charvel I bought when I was just a boy. Took to a shop a few years ago dude said it wasn’t worth fixing. I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about. It’s a superstrat probably a $3,000 guitar when it was new back then. It just needs refreshing. New frets, new wiring. Whatever… Maybe he was right, but it’s a great guitar it just needs some work. For example, the locking nut actually has a flathead screwdriver to tighten it not Allen keys so you know it’s an older guitar. So big deal put a new nut on the thing it’s a real legit Floyd rose on it. What’s the problem? I don’t know I’m not a luthier.
The 2 screws on the back of the neck are supposed to be there, BTW. Those are to hold the locking nut in place. Most companies use top mounted screws nowadays.
You typically see that on ibanez guitars the trem does look like an edge but I don't know which one if it is
This is gonna be killer, dude! Not big on BC Rich TBH, but I dig this shape
I might try to build my own custom guitar
I do a little woodwork so i should be able to do half decent
The wiring id need help with though
I just got a wilkinson m series floyd Rose, and it is identical to my gotoh 1996t. I guess wilkinson is owned by gotoh so alot of stuff is similar. I would try one
I prefer the Gotoh ge1996t over my Origin Floyd Rose, it has more fine tuning range, comes with a brass block, and the saddles feel nicer on the hand.
I can fully recommend the 1996T gotoh floyd, I replaced my fr1000 with it and it's soooo much better, I think it's also better than the FR original.
smart buy, finding a 7 string beast is not easy, nor cheap.
What a project dude! It’ll definitely look like the devil himself when you’re done with it 🤘🏻
Get the Gotoh bridge. You won't regret it. I'd stear clear of Wilkinson tuners. Bad for having lots of trashy slack in the gears. I've tried them several times. Get you a set of GraphTech Ratio staggered tuners. Best tuners I've purchased in 20+ years. I've bought them all. Sperzel would be my second choice.
I love the beast man. I had one of the "son of beasts" and hot rodded the shit out of it.
Mary had a little lamb
Get Gotoh 510 series tuners, they're worth the money ;)
Should grow a sideways mohawk and go for the O look
I think you were the only bidder on that one, looks like a fun project, is it baritone too?
My guess is the toggle switches are coil split neck, coil split bridge, series/parallel humbucker, phase reversal humbucker. Basically it's Jimmy Page wiring with toggles.
Is that a nitro finish? I never saw poly check like that unless the guitar got wet! I love the Beast. I sold off my first guitar collection in the mid 80s. In the 90s my son wanted a BC Rich Warlock. I went to Guitar Center and got him a BC Rich starter pack. While there I saw the Beast on the wall and ended up buying it for myself. That kicked of the collecting bug in my again now I have at least 200 guitars in my very eclectic collection. Sever BC Rich guitars of course. Can't wait to see this brought back from the almost dead. It would be great to do the research and see what it actually is as far as the serial number if it has one. I have bought some guitars that I knew were different than the usual stock offerings to find out they were actually custom orders.
I've wanted one of those for ever 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I think, you should do Crimson red
🤘🤘
There are still some Bernie Rico Jr husks/incompletes floating around out there...if this works out well maybe next project can be something a little more straightforward to build up.
I'm curious as too what those 4 toggle switches do. I imagine 2 coil taps but what are the other 2 up too🤔
The pick holder is actually pretty cool
No.
It's an unspoken rule but you never put a pick holder on your guitar
The gotoh 1996 whammy kicks the original floyds ass, that Japanese machining and quality control is second to none. That guitar is gonna look fucking sweet when all is said and done. \M/
If you want to get a custom shop guitar, find one of the THOUSANDS of top notch builders that do it at home like Huffsmid or something. It will usually be CHEAPER and BETTER
Those Takeuchi 7 string trems are probably worth a buttload of money these days, that looks like a trs7 pro, they were about $275 new.
Yes it is, that's a high end tremelo.
i wonder if the switches are for an active preamp
Every time you play a minor chord on that guitar a portal to a new dimension opens.
Hey Kev how do you balance your lifestyle and hobbies so well? For instance ive been out of the gym focused on something else atm and i miss the training but want to continue my other hobby. How do you balance your guitar and your training time?
I don't think the guitar is ugly but it DEFINITELY needs some work done on it.
