[Title] Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace
[Introduction] Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace is a Chinese television series, also known as Palacial Dramas, based on a novel, Hou Gong Ru Yi Zhuan, by Liu Lianzi. And it's also a continuation of a story, named Betty Sun. The series chronicles the marriage of Qianlong Emperor and Haifa-Nara, the Step Empress from 1736 to 1766.

Can you blame him? He was just a child. Like Gabriela said, he could be easily influenced by what the other consorts were saying about his adopted mother, leading him to believe that she wasn't loyal at all in taking care of him and instead, just using his position to uphold her own. Such a shame that things turned out that way. Yonghuang would've been a good ally to Ruyi.

Has anyone else who has watched this drama have to keep reminding themselves that they are acting and it’s not how they really are? Wallace Huo does such an awesome job that I really want to string him up and pay ten fold for how he treated Ruyi.😸 It was really hard for me not to be angry at his character. I had to go and watch another one of his dramas to put myself back in check lol.

Someone stated in another thread that during an interview Wallace Huo stated he was so upset at how his character was treating Ruyi that he would cry after filming those scenes.

If you only watched these short clips, it's easy to assume the wetnurse if punished for nothing. But do watch the series, you will see how the momos mistreated the prince for being without mother. Empress is not so good either. Consort Xian did well here to be honest.

Is hongli historically a lowly woman's son? It was potrayed in both yanxi and ruyi in that way. I searched for it but found nothing
If we were to look at it from the written history that is widely accepted(in Chinese is 正Zheng史Shi), his mother was from the Niu Hulu family in Manchuria and entered the palace when she was 13 and then she gave birth to Hongli but it didn't state when she gave birth on the article I found. The emperor saw Hongli for the first time when Hongli was 12 and he was put into the royal palace since he was smart and well-spoken. His mother was then promoted into imperial concubine. After Hongli became the emperor, she was then promoted into the Queen Mother.
But if we were to view it from the "wild history"(history which is not primarily accepted and isn't taught in schools, in Chinese it's called 野Ye 史Shi ), his mother was a vinegar seller and accidentally stumbled upon the court lady competition. She was then put into the fourth prince's palace and gave birth to Hongli in a stable since she was from a lowly family and had no right to give birth in the palace. But there is a saying that Hongli's mother and another concubine (from the Chen family in Haining, Zhejiang) gave birth at the same time but Hongli's mother gave birth to a girl and the concubine gave birth to Hongli. They both then swapped their children and Hongli became her child. The servants who did the swap were then silenced and nobody knew of it.
But of course, this is just what I got from a few articles and there will also be some other sayings as to who Hongli's mother is so mine might have some flaws and incorrect facts. Hope this helps :)
Historically, Qianlong Emperor is actually the son of the Empress Dowager shown in this drama. Of course, there's that element of "we never know," but any real historian who bases their claims on fact rather than sensationalism would concede there's very little chance of him being secretly a lowborn woman's son. It's the stuff of historical fiction, like the claims of the man in the iron mask being the twin of King Louis XIV.
