I remember being absolutely stunned by this on psp... The fact an open world racing game could have that large of a map, so many vehicles and other small details running on a battery operated hand held was staggering. Especially considering it's competition with the nicer looking yet much smaller maps of midnight club...
Tbh Midnight Club 3 wasn't that better with their graphics.
Plus the loading times...

@@frizzyrascal1493 MC 3 I totally agree with you on, especially off the UMD version. But MC LA was very pretty, and loaded fast enough if played on the Memory Card. Just both maps felt small, especially LA.
Psp is pretty damn impressive. It's a real shame the Vita wasn't more popular.

@@flopa9969 no, that's not buggy. That's buggy with 1+ core processors. You should play only with 1 core

PS2 and PSP version have far better soundtrack.
Excellent selection of Drum 'n Bass tracks that Xbox 360 PC version lacked.
Handling are better on PS2 PSP as well.
Kudos inspired EX points are very addictive as well whereas on Xbox 360 version rather have you play tedious minigames and buy cars and houses to level up instead.

PS2 PSP and X360 PC are made by different studios, PS2 PSP were made by Melbourne Studio and X360 PC were made by Eden Studio

@@noaharkadedelgadoso what? You cant even drift, the whole game is brake to turn, the controls aren't bad but they're defetnily not good either.
One thing that's super weird is that the "inferior" versions of the game (PSP and PS2) have MUCH better road collision than the X360 and PC versions. In the PSP/PS2 versions your car doesn't bounce on uneven roads, rather it goes smoothly over the bumps.
It's like the engine for the PC and X360 version didn't allow for smooth roads and they had to imrpovize.
By the other side, some roads in the PSP version are deformed at coast and hills regions where you can notice some roles and the grass covering the road.
I grew up with the PS2 version, I have yet to play the PC version but it almost looks like a completely different game, I feel like I'd get more TDU2 vibes from it than TDU1 simply because it's not the TDU1 I grew up with
I also grew up with the PS2 version and I'm now playing TDU Platinum (TDU for PC with a ton of modded cars and improved graphics+physics), I still get strong TDU1 vibes and it feels like the same game at heart, just a better version of it. I'd highly recommend TDU Platinum.
@@bobmarley6306 TDU platinum is so much fun. I have great time driving all the different cars. Hands down, the best mod for TDU1 and everyone should try it.

@-SPECTRE- I didnt know this as I only started on platinum recently, I find it very refreshing to play it in an era where many games either make cars much too easy or impossible to obtain. It feels like a fair grind in tdu and the attention to detail with dealerships and real spec options is a dream.
Will platinum 2 be a mod of TDU2? I always had an issue with the car physics in TDU2, honestly TDU handles better despite being an older game.
@@bobmarley6306 no mate, it will be updated for TDU 1 only.
Unfortunately, I'm not too keen on the physics, but those are the limitations of that game engine. There are mods for smoother roads as well.
Tbh, I just enjoy cruising and listening to music in my favourite cars. Cruising feels great in that game, interior view and just driving endlessly.
@-SPECTRE- Yeah cruising isn't quite as good in forza horizon due to the map being so small. Horizon physics with tdu progression/map/dealerships would be an ideal open world racing game.
I remember playing this game on xbox 360, but in my mind it was like Gran Turismo 7 graphics, crazy dude

The Xbox 360 and PC versions are more technically impressive, but the PS2 version fits the arcade aesthetic way better
Can you do Need For Speed (2015)?
The X360 version is the best because it have all the content
But, PC is better now with lots of modded vehicles
i have both the Playstation 2 version and the XBox 360 version of Test Drive Unlimited (sadly can't play the XBox 360 version right now because my 2nd XBox 360 died last year). I liked the addition of Ferrari in the XBox 360 version and the graphics on the XBox 360 version obviously look better than Playstation 2 when compared directly (although that is one beautiful sunset on the PS2 version) but the PS2 version was an amazing technical accomplishment on a 6th gen console and I prefer some of the features present in the PS2 version such as the clubs. The PS2 version doesn't really feel like a lesser game other than the lack of Ferrari. (Very few games on PS2 had Ferrari due to the cost of the license; on the XBox 360, I believe Eden/Atari sublicensed Ferrari from Microsoft directly at a discount compared to the cost of fully paying for the license themselves.)

A shame this game never got a proper PS3 version. Could've easily looked like the Xbox360 version.
Probably that was caused by the PS3 architeture problem which made a lot of developers create the games only for the Xbox 360.

i would have thought that they wouldn't have bothered and just made a singular version for psp and ps2, but the ps2 version does seem tu have better assets
Nah, the Xbox 360 and PC versions have the better assets and content since was developed first, the textures are better, same goes for the vegetation, traffic vehicles have damage, you can drive bikes, new brands like Ferrari, Maserati, Volkswagen, Lexus are present and others elements that are not present in the PS2/PSP port.

PC versione still stands out today
One important trivia: TDU on Xbox 360 had the long lost Volume 6 DLC and so its cars and one bike in that DLC and sadly it never made it to the PC version. Plus another is the Shelby 427 Cobra is only appeared in the PS2 and PSP versions, with the PC and Xbox 360 had the car nowhere to be found. But however it returned to TDU 2 through getting the wrecks of the 427. And oppositely, Ferraris and bikes were also missing from the PS2 and PSP versions of TDU as well.
I used to play the PSP version then and nowadays again, both handheld and PPSSPP emulator got much better graphics than the one you're showing, why's that? I run it in my Xiaomi Mi 10T with snapdragon 865 and 8gb ram and work flawless.

Xbox version looks the best, i dont get why Pc ports often dont carry over the effects. Its just as plaon and ugly as PC port of zdrover San Francisco which also lacks all the effects of x360 versions. What makes it so hard for them to port post processing, bloom and color correction to pc?
I hate to say this but... PS2/ PSP one has much better handling and better soundtrack to listen to. Yeah I didn't think I'd say that either

Mmmm en la versión de PC parece que olvidaron activar la opción HDR en el video que trae predeterminada xbox 360 y ps3. La versión de PC es superior notablente en especial en el apartado de sombras.

@@KP-48-007 not really. in some aspects psp is even more powerful than ps2, but
1. psp is battery powered handheld console - so it should have a decent battery life sooo that's kinda the limit
2. psp has much lower memory speed, so it can't process many objects in high quality at the same time
psp IS portable ps2, not ps1/"ps1.5"/anything else
