    Have both of them. My experience is that the Sony has a better screen, Sony's lowest brightness is lower (handy at night when you dont want to bother your partner), Sony has wireless charging and longer software updates, the Asus has a build-in option to record calls, this is not possible with the Sony.
    Asus has cool lock and unlock sound effects.
    Both have very good battery life, zenfone due to efficiënt chip, Sony larger battery.
    I have chosen the Sony myself, but will miss the Asus.
    Thank for your video's! Love your channel and good reviews. Watch every video.

      @@avenuePad I tried the Xperia 1 IV as well, but unfortunately it did not fit in my car wirelless charge pad. Typing is the same between them for as far i can recall. (depends on how big your hands are).
      The battery life on the other hand is far superior on the xperia 5.
      Ofcourse, camera setup in the 1 is superior. So choose whats more important for you. I have to say, personally I don't miss the 1 as I started to love the smaller size.

    Probably I would choose Zenfone 9 just because it have plastic back. But hats off to Sony for managing to tame the chipset.
    If Sony could fit 5000mah battery in 6.1 inch for factor with headphone jack and micro SD slot, I wonder why other company decided not to do this.

    • @Squary94
      @Squary94 Год назад +3

      A possible answer to that would be that subsequent releases of phones wouldn't look quite as appealing in comparison. The zenfone 9 has 4300mah, the zenfone 8 got a 4000mah which makes it a additional selling point. They probably could have easily put in 4300 in the zenfone 8 but they didn't.
      The same with every other brand. They don't want to create the best possible smartphone. They want to create the phone that is good enough for people to buy but bad enough to make people consider a upgrade 1 or 2 generations down the line.

    Great review! I have both but will be letting go of the Zenfone for these (probably subjective): 1. I find that the xperias coupled with their factory casebacks are phenomenally good in your hand - never slippery and with a bit of added thickness they become extremely secure in your hand for one handed operation. I struggle to keep a secure hold of the Zenfone with or without it's caseback. 2. I've found that recent Xperia cameras behave and take images more like real cameras - less processing, more neutral rendition, more difficult to get a good snap but better to actually postprocess to your liking in Lightroom, unlike other brands that over process images in a way that you either like or dislike - especially over sharpening is awful. 3. I'm a sucker for barometers and notification LEDs :)

    Think this is the best comparison video of those two and very valuable. While I have made my decision already some time ago (pro the ZF9), it is important to have such a detailed overview of those two devices. I tried the 5 II 2 years back and while being impressed by the camera options, I cannot excuse it anymore that Sony is not giving the option to include a more advanced HDR / night view technology. In combination with the basically missing gcam support for the 5, this keeps me away from the Sony for the time being.
    A little bit of (constructive) critisism still for the video: The software experience was barely mentioned and while I think it is not a big thing (also both being quite close to "stock"), I think it should be included a bit more.

Look forward to receiving it but I know my P6Pro will own it camera/support wise but I just want a smaller device. One also gets the case, and charger incl as well so I dont have to go spend more on those items plus the bonus BT headphones, cables for me are done as to get very good audio one needs to add a separate DAC at cost if adding very good wired headphones. Sony didn't manage to tame that dragon, the thinner chassis makes it harder to cool the phone, it heats up especially when using the camera and cuts you off when recording sometimes even shorter vid clips. Watch Michael Fisher's & Juan Bagnell's review you'll see, I think Sony should make an upper midranger with either SD 778G or 870/875, these 8/8+ Gens are very innefficient.
