My good friend Betty Jo was a good friend of Jimmy’s. He had given her a classical guitar, and when she got to old to play it, she gave it to me. Such an honor to be so close to such gracious people and such wonderful musicians. The world is a better place for their contributions of music and love.
In 1976 when Kenny Rogers first went solo, he didn't have any hits yet. He would perform his First Edition songs and they used to do a Paul Simon medley. Once in Chicago he sang the medley at soundcheck and when he was done there was one person clapping in the middle of the empty theater. It was Paul! Happy Birthday to Paul Simon who turns 70 today!
Thanks, for posting, I remember these times well. I never missed their show. I would love to find Kin Vassy's version of "Hello LA, Bye Bye Birmingham"
@SingingRoadieMusic Thank you for sharing the story. It must be intimating to perform in front of a singer/songwriter. I hope Kenny's biography (to be released 2012) has similar stories. And Happy Birthday Paul Simon. ~ ~ ~ "What have you done today to make you feel PROUD?" (Proud by Heather Small)
"Keep On Singing" sounds SO much better as a slow country ballad, instead of that ridiculous version that Helen Reddy had a hit with. The song has such a sad melodramatic lyric, and Helen's version is just so bright, chipper and upbeat sounding. This arrangement Terry is singing is almost identical to the original version that Austin Roberts recorded... a MUCH better rendition of the song, and Terry does an amazing job on it.

Great song.....
Terry should've been a bigger star! He had the voice, the looks and the acting chops to be huge! Life is so unfair sometimes.
I will try to get it up here soon.
You are welcome! They are great!

Every member as SUPER AS KENNY. I BELIEVE KENNY WAS AT HIS HAPPIEST WITH THEM. KENNY DID NOT QUIT TO GO SOLO. BAND DISBANDED AND THEN KENNY WENT SOLO
