Seems impossible Van den broek was so powerful after such a long breakaway...I am really glad but still, 50-55km/h with headwind and a fresher Bardet being towed and struggling to hang on...miracle boy coming from another sport... absolutely incredible.

Nice to see some coverage of stage 1.
And yet, how did van den Broek, the hero of the day, get into that leading position with his teammate Bardet? Why not show a minute and a half on that, rather than that same amount of time covering Mark Cavendish flirting with time limit?
Still, props to getting your video up so quickly!

Agreed. Too much time wasted on someone who is not important in the stage. I watched the last four hours live and enjoyed the finish. I thought Bardet would be caught by the peloton, but that young cyclist did an absolutely brilliant job to get his team leader over the line.

Best first stage of a TdF in my memory. Cannot even think of any 1st stage coming close. Became even more exciting because of the jonas/Pogocar rivalry since most knew of Jonas accident and Pogocars positive covid test 2 weeks before start.Following if any off them were showing weakness, just added to it all. Incredibly they both looked strong which only makes the also tough stage 2, potentially just as exciting. YEAHHHHH! 5 mountain tops on stage 1! What a stroke of genius from TdF. NEVER another 1st stage TT again!
