i know its been a year but smothering with sand works. These things are so crazy though they can burn underwater.

Because the chemicals in the battery react with the oxygen so your extinguisher will not work or will just the combustion for a short time.

Don't plug your batteries when there hot or have just been used !! Let them cool at room temperature for atleast 30 minutes or more ..It prolongs the life and less risk of fire 🔥 Don't plug them and leave the house or go to bed 😴 Stay safe

Mostly everything just start a fire as they say but put it like a timer on them or when battery's fully charged the charger automatically turns off the time we living got technology to provide that

some of this battery are not balance/old/diy bad cells and list goes on.... when battery get old they swell and expand a lot of people dont know that and just keep running it...some charger cables also broke and fraying causing shorts ... im a tech and i been dealing with lithium for over 15+ years and only fire i had was a small 200ma 1s cell because i was stupid haha i knew it was going to not like being charge high amps but it was just a 1s and i was next to it all the time and blew up like a pack of matches and it stinks

should of said sand is a good way to put these out so its always a good idea to keep a bag at your charging area

Do not over charged your phone, specially overnight. If it falls do not charge it right away. You dropped water ,take off the charger let it dry out.
Keep a god dam fire extinguisher at home.
    And not a water one.
