What nobody tells you? Burnt wire = Aluminum wire. Copper doesn't come loose as easily as aluminum when it gets hot. I just upgraded my Service from 100 to 200 amps everything is Copper! Ground!, all service phases! Into and out of the meter box. It's been installed for almost a year I've checked the lugs and none have come loose at all! Copper costs a little more not much more, and it's worth every penny! It's not even a code thing in my City! If someone tries to cut it for scrap they will never leave after cutting a live wire 😮😮😮 I'm not far away from Iowa I'm in the Michigan UP. Yes I paid an electrician because of the permits needed and to deal with Xcel Energy. Copper always use Copper!!! The guys that did the work saved me $1800 by using them vs a local shop that wanted more . They refuse to use Aluminum even if the customer asks for it. Only because they don't want to come back to check the lugs.
