I finally completed my Phantom 3 Advanced Parameters Mods. After testing my drone, here are some details this video didn't include. 1. You need to install PIP for Python and add it to your Windows Path variable 1. Your Controller must be downgraded to version v1.5.80 2. Within the DJI Go App, you must disable the Smart Go Home Option (The performance modifications will cause high battery drain which will trigger a low voltage Auto Land, even when your battery is full) My Phantom 3 Advanced now performs very similar to a Mavic Pro. Thank You for this amazing Hack! You're a Legend!!!
HI Tim, Ive got the altered firmware now successfully loaded onto my drone and speed etc is improved... however, max alt is still locked at 500m. I'm on App Version 3.1.34 and Remote Controller Version 1.9.3. Im using an iPhone. Do I need to downgrade controller? If so, why? Thanks!
after a few attempts it works fine. thanks lad. please be more vocal with the fact it works with all versions now. i havent tested it vs height yet until i get my range extender. will post back to let you know if i can break the height limit

cheers Tom. I did find a few Inspire 1 versions which were able to be modded .. the process had a few warning errors, but it repacked fine. I don't have an inspire 1 to test with, so looking for bold folks who are willing. Its version V01.02.01.03 and V01.02.01.06. The process to downgrade is the same, but the debug file is named WM610_FW_DEBUG. Again, i havent tested .. but willing to share. Ping me at flyflydrones@gmail.com and we can talk more. Got my parameters modified and it's working fine in regard to the new parameters. When I go to the about in my DJI GO app it still shows the + after the version. I did each downgrade in order with debug file on SD card for each time. My controler downgrade went fine. My drone works fine as well. Love the new freedom with the mods!

The debug doesnt work anymore for the P3S_FW_V01.11.0020. I upgraded to this version but got an error, 2 beeps pauze 2 beeps. (sounds like a gimball error imo) Wanted to downgrade to P3S_FW_V01.10.0090 with the P3S_FW_DEBUG but nothing happens. Log says, impossible to downgrade to lower version. So downgrading has become impossible.

I came across you video a few days ago and decided to try this for myself. A bit scary as I've never done anything like this before, but found the process, and your "How to do it" very easy to follow and I have succeeded in downgrading and changing the flight parameters of my P3P. My question is: Do I need to change anything else before I attempt to fly it for the first time? You say "just go and fly" Do I need to do anything with the controller? Also, I fly using the Litchi App. Are there any setting I need to change? Once again, many thanks for taking the time to post, what is, a very instructional video. Rocky

I have a P3 Pro..so i seethis is a long process for change the parameters, there is a way for change these parameters with dji assistant? second question is: one time i have do this when i start the app dji go normally recognise an old firmware and ask me to update otherwise i can't fly..so waht can i do? sorry for these qustions but i want to be sure before do this change...my first goal is to change altitude limit..thanks again . :D
Hi Steve, I tested a few round up and down finally got a result. Firmware 1.07, 1.08 had no issue with NFZ but 1.09, 1.10 were not successful. I have sent to you an email with patched files for your comments. Thanks.
Comment and a question. Whew! Thought I bricked my P3 Standard today. Mine is not like the one in the video though as the memory card slot is on top of the camera as opposed to integrated into the mount housing in the video. Followed all the steps. Formatted the card to start. Just in case (pretty sure it was already there anyway), I started with P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin along with the P3C_FW_DEBUG file with no extension. P3C_FW_RESULT_AB.txt shows "Abort - The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft." Next hit it with P3C_FW_V01.08.0100.bin and all seemed to go okay. Result file shows only shows the message "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.08.0100.bin - Upgrading ...". Next I tried to hit it with P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin. This is where the problems started. It ended with a red light and a horrendous sound. WAY louder and more annoying than the standard upgrade/downgrade tones. I'm serious. I put this thing in my walk-in closet in my bathroom, closed the door, then closed the bathroom door, then closed the bedroom door and you could still hear it! Even tried covering it with a thick blanket. My heart sank when I powered it off/on and the same louder/annoying tones continued. Result file shows "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin - Upgrading..." and nothing else. Thinking I bricked it, as a last ditch effort I put P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin back on the memory card and hit it again. It started out with the louder/annoying tones, but after about 15 minutes of that, it went back to the softer "beep-beep" tones and was flashing red/green again. 15 minutes after that the flashing stopped. Removed the memory card and powered it on. Everything works again. Yay! Result file shows "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin - Upgrading...". Not sure if I want to try this again. Seemed so easy. Where did I go wrong? I read that some are built with different hardware which could make downgrading risky. Could mine be one of those? OP, any way to message me and help me solve this? Would love to get the extra features out of this drone. Thanks for your hard work putting this video and information together!!! EDIT: Just saw this post down below: digdat0 2 months ago the tool was JUST updated to allow ANY version to work :) so you dont need to downgrade anymore. we can modify and flash your current version. re-download the dji_fwcon.py file and the fw of your choice Should I give this another try with P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin?
So I did go ahead and try it out. All went well up to the part of actually flashing the firmware into the drone. I put the PMCAPPFw3.bin file into the blank memory card with no other files, turned the drone on, and the drone just turns on like normal. No signs of a firmware flash occurring. I saw in the notes on dji.retroroms.info/howto/modp3params to force the firmware load using the pin reset. I only see one pin reset on the underside of the drone towards the edge. The pin reset did reset everything on the drone but didn't trigger fw update. Am I missing anything?

Hi...You sound really knowledgeable. I appreciate you putting it out there like that. I have a problem with my r/c connecting and disconnecting spontaneously. It is a P3S with a GL358wA controller. Linking doesn't work. I get a video feed and the gimbal control works. Connection status on controller goes from green to red , red to green every few minutes no pattern. Appreciate anything you might think about this.....
Okay, it's August 2019, and the UK is restricting drones with limits such as altitude. Will it still be possible to modify my Phantom 3 standard (currently with latest firmware, using Litchi to fly and DJI Go 3 to do adjustments such as IMU calibration) by using this method, and is it possible to list the steps in that scenario please? I keep getting auto RTH at unwanted moments in filming, and whilst I would still wish to fly safely, I would like the range of the P3S to be better. I currently use upgraded outboard antennae on both receiver and aircraft, and also use the Magic 5. Many thanks for all of this information you have given in a most concise way. I do not fly above 400ft, but would still like the speed mods and a more acceptable range; something is holding it back :)
Thanks for the Video its well done. Also just a question. When modifying vert up and vert down velocity. Why do you also modify vert acc gain and vert vel gain to 300? Also will p3p get into a vortex ring state with a velocity down at 10M/s. Thanks again for video.
I have Phantom 3 pro with V01.07.0060 i added many years ago for this mod that i belive didnt take propery in regards to the edits in the files. can I just go strait to flashing the same version again? or do I need to flash up/down and do i still need the debug file?
I was reading the comments and you seem to mention that it's now possible to modify the flight parameters of any firmware version. Can you confirm that please and also confirm 1.11.20 is hackable please?
I have done a lot of research. Basically the P3 standard can only pick up like 0.6 (lbs) pounds. Meanwhile the phnatom 3 professional can pick up around 2.5 lbs. I am trying to pick up my mavic, but my P3 standard cannot pick up that much weight. I wanted to prepare if my mavic ever gets stuck in a tree that I would be able to pick it up. My experiment is to use neodymium magnets (strongest magnets in the world) attached to a string on my P3S.
With those enhancements, I am more on for the Distance and the Speed increase, which line is for the Speed? The Airport config I don't think it is safe to touch that even you are a certified or careful pilot. Do you have to copy those two files to the P3 Folder on the desktop for each downgrade? Or you do it at the final downgrade and run the script? I did not got that part right. Thanks

@@impo25 Same here. Gone twice, through all steps (without downgrading, directly in FW 1.11). Everything was successfull, the File PMCAPPFw3.bin changed to the updated state, but the drone still flies absolutely the same way as before, and also the dji Go app. Did you get it to work? Hey dig, Good video man! Have you tried to disable auto landing yet? Or maybe its more accurate to say slow the speed of auto landing to 0. Indexes #451 and #452. I changed them but never tested it.

What happens when you try to flash v1.11.20 on flash v1.11.20 (renaming file to "PMCAPPFw3.bin") and you get a txt report that state abort same version no changes required? Do I need to downgrade 1 rev?
Hello, first I want to say thanks for putting up such great info in an easy to follow method. It is clear that you really know what you are doing. I am currently trying to downgrade my P2C to 1.07.0084. I started going row by row on the github list and last flashed 1.07.0090 and then tried to flash 1.07.0086. At this point it does not properly flash and the log reads that it cannot downgrade to the intended version: ========== 2018.01.10 00:59:15 ===================== Packet: P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin Upgrading ... Result: Success. ========== 2014.01.01 00:00:24 remo-con disconnect====== Packet: P3C_FW_V01.07.0086.bin Result: Abort. The current firmware does not support downgrade. Use a different version of firmware to downgrade the target version. What steps do I need to take to get the firmware to the needed 1.07.0084? Thanks
you need to use the debug file on the SD card. Over at phantompilots.com there is a good thread on downgrading the p3 standard, I would check that for more info to do it properly
Steve I almost forgot in my email to you the most important parameter if it can be modified to me would be the increase of the RF coming off the bird. I currently switch all the antennas out to Cloverleaf 3 + 4 half wave styles and seem to get some success there but there's got to be something to drive that output amp hotter. Or am I wrong?

my 1.7 works with the latest RC firmware, 1.8. So you should not need to from my experience, but if you do its very easy and there are many tutorials around here. For versions, V01.10.0090,V01.09.0060,,V01.08.0080 and then V01.07.0060
This...is golden. I just have a few questions before I take the plunge: 1) I know what we can gain with this, but what do we lose by going back from 1.11.0 to 1.7? (nm, answer derived here: dl.djicdn.com/downloads/phantom_3/20170706/Phantom+3+Professional+Release+Notes_.pdf) 2) Are there known efforts underway to "mod" 1.11.0? (If 1.7 gives me what I think I need, then this is only a point of curiosity) 3) Do I need to be aware of any DJI f/w auto-updating processes while running current RC f/w and the 1.7 AC f/w? (I don't use DJIGO except for calibration) 4) Do we know if DJI's client libraries (iOS and java) used by Licthi and others attempt any client-side checking or enforcement of limits for potentially hacked aircraft controller parameters? For example, do current libraries attempt to throttle back to 500m anything that exceeds that coming from the AC? In practical terms, are there versions of Lichti's mobile app(s) that cannot recognize and utilize the new params? And, if so, are there published "mods" for the app (iOS), or is there a max release/build that provides support for any param values stored in the AC? 5) I have checked and confirmed that Lichti's mission hub has hardcoded range checking - for both speed and altitude - such that you cannot import a mission CSV file with modified values if they are outside of the assumed range. So, is there a way to modify missions created by Lichti mission hub that will support the new, higher speeds and altitudes? That is, after this mod will Licthi mobile app (iOS) allow me to modify speed/altitude? And, will those app-updated values sync to the hub? 6) Is all of this mod stuff just a hekkuva lot simpler with the newer platforms (P4P, Mavic, Inspire 2)? (Should I bail on P3P and upgrade?) Disclosure: I live in the Rocky Mountains, right at the base of some very tall mountains. I help a cooperative of wranglers locate and identify their stock on their federal grazing leases - also in the Rocky Mountains. Autonomous missions are very important. LOS is not. The 500m above HP and the 200m below HP limits, although understood, are not practical when attempting to fly this terrain, never exceeding 400' AGL.
1) cool :) 2) 1.7 is the only version we can mod, as its the only one which was not encrypted in the flght controller module. The others lock us out. But, i found that if you update from 1.7 the mods stick and arent removed. Ive only tested up to 1.9. 3) I am not aware of any forced FW updates on p3 platform, you should be fine. 4) I dont know .. you should visit slack those guys may know 5) ive not found a way to run missions outside of stock params (in theory on amodded AC, you could modify the CSV and then upload but i havent tested) 6) YES its alot easier on the mavic/phantom 4

to be honest, i havent seen any drone which can fly autonomous missions above 500m. You may want to look into the autel x-star premium, it has a Stock altitude limit of 1000m. I dont see any way to get a p3p or a Mavic to fly missions up that high, or no-one has told me ..

i did find some Inspire 1 FW versions which i was able to extract and modify, but there were some errors during that process I don't understand, so not quite ready to share. That said, the information is in github and same process works
you want to start flying down on low battery dude. it doesnt come down as fast as it takes off and you may get some wind resistance at high altitudes. youd wanna get back before your battery dies. it starts going down for a reason. you can always set your low battery alert to a low % but i dont recommend ignoring it.
I would like to ask if the P3A is renamed to PMCAPPFw3.bin after the completion of the modification, what about other P3 series models? For example, P3P, P3S, P3 4K? How do these models be named? Is it all in the name of PMCAPPFw3 or something special?
Hello, I have followed all the steps and everything is correct, very good tutorial, thanks for that, but now three notices come out, 1.the drone needs to update firmware 2.the battery needs to update firmware 3.the camera needs to update firmware, now it is not can start engines and forces you to update again, what would be the solution? Well, after downloading from firmware V01.11.0020 to P3S_FW_V01.07.0060, I have verified that the whole process can be done, but for my ph3a to start engines I had to degrade the rc to 1.5.80, after this now everything works correctly, I have been able to verify that the parameters changed in the process of recompilation of the suggested firmware work correctly and the improvement in the speed of rise and fall is remarkable, I have tested the height limitation and it is no longer a problem for me , because I usually fly in a mountainous area and now there is no problem with the height limit, on the app screen it now has a maximum height of 5000 meters, thank you very much for the knowledge shared, so it's a pleasure.
upgraded back to 1.10 and error goes away, when i repeat process the fw flash goes through successfully but in the dji go app in the status bar i get Main controller data error, tried recalibration of imu still persists
I've not seen main controller error - what RC firmware are you on? Did you make sure to use the right one? p3a vs p3p? Did you skip any firmware or did you go one by one? Flash from 1.10 to 1.9 using debug file, let it finish. Then remove the debug file and force flash using the button on the VPS - let that finish and it should work.

I think we need a tutorial on how to downgrade the controllers firmware as well. I'm getting a update radio firmware on the DJIGO app. Showing drone and drone camera needs an update because of inconsistent firmwares on remote vs drone & camera. EDIT: Found out how, on DJIGO app tap and hold on the small tutorial hat in the app it will then give you the option to downgrade RC firmware. For this to work I had to downgrade RC firmware to v1.5.80, I hope this helps others.
I have a firmware 1.11.20. The whole compilation runs smoothly. In the application I can change to max AGL 999m (I set it up) but I lose this parameter and again it returns to 500m. (I changed both parameters corresponding to max AGL) Flight test also max 500m I do not know what to do :( It is interesting that the application on the Android system does not give you the ability to switch to 999m (max 500), and the application on iOS gives you the ability to switch to 999m but does not remember it. Somewhere else has to be remembered is 500m

HI Tim, Ive got the altered firmware now successfully loaded onto my drone and speed etc is improved... however, max alt is still locked at 500m. I'm on App Version 3.1.34 and Remote Controller Version 1.9.3. Im using an iPhone. Do I need to downgrade controller? If so, why? Thanks!

cheers Tom. I did find a few Inspire 1 versions which were able to be modded .. the process had a few warning errors, but it repacked fine. I don't have an inspire 1 to test with, so looking for bold folks who are willing. Its version V01.02.01.03 and V01.02.01.06. The process to downgrade is the same, but the debug file is named WM610_FW_DEBUG. Again, i havent tested .. but willing to share. Ping me at flyflydrones@gmail.com and we can talk more. Got my parameters modified and it's working fine in regard to the new parameters. When I go to the about in my DJI GO app it still shows the + after the version. I did each downgrade in order with debug file on SD card for each time. My controler downgrade went fine. My drone works fine as well. Love the new freedom with the mods!
Can you guide me downgrade? 1.09 to 1.08 ?? I lowered the compass no cali.

The debug doesnt work anymore for the P3S_FW_V01.11.0020.
I upgraded to this version but got an error, 2 beeps pauze 2 beeps. (sounds like a gimball error imo)

I came across you video a few days ago and decided to try this for myself. A bit scary as I've never done anything like this before, but found the process, and your "How to do it" very easy to follow and I have succeeded in downgrading and changing the flight parameters of my P3P.
My question is: Do I need to change anything else before I attempt to fly it for the first time? You say "just go and fly"
Do I need to do anything with the controller? Also, I fly using the Litchi App. Are there any setting I need to change?

Hi Steve, I tested a few round up and down finally got a result. Firmware 1.07, 1.08 had no issue with NFZ but 1.09, 1.10 were not successful. I have sent to you an email with patched files for your comments. Thanks.

Comment and a question. Whew! Thought I bricked my P3 Standard today. Mine is not like the one in the video though as the memory card slot is on top of the camera as opposed to integrated into the mount housing in the video.
Followed all the steps. Formatted the card to start. Just in case (pretty sure it was already there anyway), I started with P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin along with the P3C_FW_DEBUG file with no extension. P3C_FW_RESULT_AB.txt shows "Abort - The firmware on the SD card is identical to or older than the current firmware on the aircraft."
Next hit it with P3C_FW_V01.08.0100.bin and all seemed to go okay. Result file shows only shows the message "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.08.0100.bin - Upgrading ...".
Next I tried to hit it with P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin. This is where the problems started. It ended with a red light and a horrendous sound. WAY louder and more annoying than the standard upgrade/downgrade tones. I'm serious. I put this thing in my walk-in closet in my bathroom, closed the door, then closed the bathroom door, then closed the bedroom door and you could still hear it! Even tried covering it with a thick blanket. My heart sank when I powered it off/on and the same louder/annoying tones continued. Result file shows "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.07.0090.bin - Upgrading..." and nothing else.
Thinking I bricked it, as a last ditch effort I put P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin back on the memory card and hit it again. It started out with the louder/annoying tones, but after about 15 minutes of that, it went back to the softer "beep-beep" tones and was flashing red/green again. 15 minutes after that the flashing stopped. Removed the memory card and powered it on. Everything works again. Yay! Result file shows "Packet: P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin - Upgrading...".
Not sure if I want to try this again. Seemed so easy.
Where did I go wrong? I read that some are built with different hardware which could make downgrading risky. Could mine be one of those? OP, any way to message me and help me solve this? Would love to get the extra features out of this drone.

the tool was JUST updated to allow ANY version to work :) so you dont need to downgrade anymore. we can modify and flash your current version. re-download the dji_fwcon.py file and the fw of your choice
Should I give this another try with P3C_FW_V01.09.0200.bin?
So I did go ahead and try it out. All went well up to the part of actually flashing the firmware into the drone. I put the PMCAPPFw3.bin file into the blank memory card with no other files, turned the drone on, and the drone just turns on like normal. No signs of a firmware flash occurring. I saw in the notes on dji.retroroms.info/howto/modp3params to force the firmware load using the pin reset. I only see one pin reset on the underside of the drone towards the edge. The pin reset did reset everything on the drone but didn't trigger fw update. Am I missing anything?

Hi...You sound really knowledgeable. I appreciate you putting it out there like that. I have a problem with my r/c connecting and disconnecting spontaneously. It is a P3S with a GL358wA controller. Linking doesn't work. I get a video feed and the gimbal control works. Connection status on controller goes from green to red , red to green every few minutes no pattern. Okay, it's August 2019, and the UK is restricting drones with limits such as altitude. Will it still be possible to modify my Phantom 3 standard (currently with latest firmware, using Litchi to fly and DJI Go 3 to do adjustments such as IMU calibration) by using this method, and is it possible to list the steps in that scenario please? I keep getting auto RTH at unwanted moments in filming, and whilst I would still wish to fly safely, I would like the range of the P3S to be better. I currently use upgraded outboard antennae on both receiver and aircraft, and also use the Magic 5. Many thanks for all of this information you have given in a most concise way. I do not fly above 400ft, but would still like the speed mods and a more acceptable range; something is holding it back :)
I should add that when I film over a distance, it is still line of sight, as I use a spotter with binoculars.

the only weight i would carry on my p3 was more batteries :P What are you trying to carry? If you add much weight, you wont get good flight time.
I have done a lot of research. Basically the P3 standard can only pick up like 0.6 (lbs) pounds. Meanwhile the phnatom 3 professional can pick up around 2.5 lbs.
I am trying to pick up my mavic, but my P3 standard cannot pick up that much weight. I wanted to prepare if my mavic ever gets stuck in a tree that I would be able to pick it up. My experiment is to use neodymium magnets (strongest magnets in the world) attached to a string on my P3S.
Basically I want to know if I modify parameters will I at least lift 1.5 lbs?
With those enhancements, I am more on for the Distance and the Speed increase, which line is for the Speed? The Airport config I don't think it is safe to touch that even you are a certified or careful pilot. Do you have to copy those two files to the P3 Folder on the desktop for each downgrade? Everything was successfull, the File PMCAPPFw3.bin changed to the updated state, but the drone still flies absolutely the same way as before, and also the dji Go app. Did you get it to work? Good video man! Have you tried to disable auto landing yet? Or maybe its more accurate to say slow the speed of auto landing to 0. Indexes #451 and #452. I changed them but never tested it.
Shows max flight altitude is 20~5000m but if you set to say 800m it gives faa note but dont keep setting of 800m
we bypass that setting in DJI Go. You dont need to change it.
So this setup just bypasses it in the go app

What happens when you try to flash v1.11.20 on flash v1.11.20 (renaming file to "PMCAPPFw3.bin") and you get a txt report that state abort same version no changes required? Do I need to downgrade 1 rev?
After downgrading and making those modifications, Does DJI app is going to find out that you are not up to date and force new firmware on you?

I am currently trying to downgrade my P2C to 1.07.0084. I started going row by row on the github list and last flashed 1.07.0090 and then tried to flash 1.07.0086. At this point it does not properly flash and the log reads that it cannot downgrade to the intended version:

Why cant the newer firmware be modified in the same way as the old firmware?
The newer firmware is encrypted - the ones we can modify are not encrypted.

you need to use the debug file on the SD card. Over at phantompilots.com there is a good thread on downgrading the p3 standard, I would check that for more info to do it properly

Steve I almost forgot in my email to you the most important parameter if it can be modified to me would be the increase of the RF coming off the bird. I currently switch all the antennas out to Cloverleaf 3 + 4 half wave styles and seem to get some success there but there's got to be something to drive that output amp hotter. Or am I wrong?

my 1.7 works with the latest RC firmware, 1.8. So you should not need to from my experience, but if you do its very easy and there are many tutorials around here. For versions, V01.10.0090,V01.09.0060,,V01.08.0080 and then V01.07.0060

This...is golden. I just have a few questions before I take the plunge:
1) I know what we can gain with this, but what do we lose by going back from 1.11.0 to 1.7? (nm, answer derived here: dl.djicdn.com/downloads/phantom_3/20170706/Phantom+3+Professional+Release+Notes_.pdf)
2) Are there known efforts underway to "mod" 1.11.0? (If 1.7 gives me what I think I need, then this is only a point of curiosity)
3) Do I need to be aware of any DJI f/w auto-updating processes while running current RC f/w and the 1.7 AC f/w? (I don't use DJIGO except for calibration)
4) Do we know if DJI's client libraries (iOS and java) used by Licthi and others attempt any client-side checking or enforcement of limits for potentially hacked aircraft controller parameters? For example, do current libraries attempt to throttle back to 500m anything that exceeds that coming from the AC? In practical terms, are there versions of Lichti's mobile app(s) that cannot recognize and utilize the new params? And, if so, are there published "mods" for the app (iOS), or is there a max release/build that provides support for any param values stored in the AC?
5) I have checked and confirmed that Lichti's mission hub has hardcoded range checking - for both speed and altitude - such that you cannot import a mission CSV file with modified values if they are outside of the assumed range. So, is there a way to modify missions created by Lichti mission hub that will support the new, higher speeds and altitudes? That is, after this mod will Licthi mobile app (iOS) allow me to modify speed/altitude? And, will those app-updated values sync to the hub?
6) Is all of this mod stuff just a hekkuva lot simpler with the newer platforms (P4P, Mavic, Inspire 2)? (Should I bail on P3P and upgrade?)
Disclosure: I live in the Rocky Mountains, right at the base of some very tall mountains. I help a cooperative of wranglers locate and identify their stock on their federal grazing leases - also in the Rocky Mountains. Autonomous missions are very important. LOS is not. The 500m above HP and the 200m below HP limits, although understood, are not practical when attempting to fly this terrain, never exceeding 400' AGL.
1) cool :) 2) 1.7 is the only version we can mod, as its the only one which was not encrypted in the flght controller module. The others lock us out. But, i found that if you update from 1.7 the mods stick and arent removed. Ive only tested up to 1.9. 3) I am not aware of any forced FW updates on p3 platform, you should be fine. 4) I dont know .. you should visit slack those guys may know 5) ive not found a way to run missions outside of stock params (in theory on amodded AC, you could modify the CSV and then upload but i havent tested) 6) YES its alot easier on the mavic/phantom 4

(your recommendation for a modable drone that can fly autonomous wp missions not limited by the -200m/+500m altitude?)
to be honest, i havent seen any drone which can fly autonomous missions above 500m. You may want to look into the autel x-star premium, it has a Stock altitude limit of 1000m. I dont see any way to get a p3p or a Mavic to fly missions up that high, or no-one has told me ..

Got it really high. Turned off smart RTH. Now getting critical battery alert forces it down. Ideas to fix?
you want to start flying down on low battery dude. it doesnt come down as fast as it takes off and you may get some wind resistance at high altitudes. youd wanna get back before your battery dies. it starts going down for a reason. you can always set your low battery alert to a low % but i dont recommend ignoring it.
I would like to ask if the P3A is renamed to PMCAPPFw3.bin after the completion of the modification, what about other P3 series models? For example, P3P, P3S, P3 4K? How do these models be named? Is it all in the name of PMCAPPFw3 or something special?

Well, after downloading from firmware V01.11.0020 to P3S_FW_V01.07.0060, I have verified that the whole process can be done, but for my ph3a to start engines I had to degrade the rc to 1.5.80, after this now everything works correctly, I have been able to verify that the parameters changed in the process of recompilation of the suggested firmware work correctly and the improvement in the speed of rise and fall is remarkable, I have tested the height limitation and it is no longer a problem for me , because I usually fly in a mountainous area and now there is no problem with the height limit, on the app screen it now has a maximum height of 5000 meters, thank you very much for the knowledge shared, so it's a pleasure.

yes, you need to set smart battery and all of the voltage landing protection settings as well, to zero (0)

upgraded back to 1.10 and error goes away, when i repeat process the fw flash goes through successfully but in the dji go app in the status bar i get Main controller data error, tried recalibration of imu still persists
I've not seen main controller error - what RC firmware are you on? Did you make sure to use the right one? p3a vs p3p? Did you skip any firmware or did you go one by one? Flash from 1.10 to 1.9 using debug file, let it finish. Then remove the debug file and force flash using the button on the VPS - let that finish and it should work.

Can you copy files to sd card while it's in the aircraft? My computer won't recognize anything in usb other than the aircraft.
Take the sd card out, plug it into your pc using a usb adapter and then copy the file. Thats the only way

I think we need a tutorial on how to downgrade the controllers firmware as well. I'm getting a update radio firmware on the DJIGO app. Showing drone and drone camera needs an update because of inconsistent firmwares on remote vs drone & camera. EDIT: Found out how, on DJIGO app tap and hold on the small tutorial hat in the app it will then give you the option to downgrade RC firmware. For this to work I had to downgrade RC firmware to v1.5.80, I hope this helps others.

I have a firmware 1.11.20. The whole compilation runs smoothly. In the application I can change to max AGL 999m (I set it up) but I lose this parameter and again it returns to 500m. (I changed both parameters corresponding to max AGL) Flight test also max 500m I do not know what to do :( It is interesting that the application on the Android system does not give you the ability to switch to 999m (max 500), and the application on iOS gives you the ability to switch to 999m but does not remember it. Też wykonałem wszystko jak w opisie i mam to samo co u ciebie ,wpisuje 5000m a aplikacja tego nie pamięta dodatkowo wywala komunikat ostrzegawczy .
Mój EN jest słaby może tobie uda się ciś więcej wyczytać .

It's very strange. Now there is no "Aircraft" under About in v3.1.23 of Go. I could paste the RESULT.txt file here but perhaps it's not so important.
