The Canucks’ spaghetti skate jersey with the Black, Red, Yellow is one of my all time favourite looks. I always loved that jersey.
I was born in 81, so I don’t have any memories of them using the old/current colours.
They just looked so badass in those black jerseys.
The Flying V looks like they took a jersey rejected by the German National Soccer team from the same time period!
It looks rather Medieval! Or a Carnival Dress :D

I think the funniest comparison I've ever heard of the flying V jersey was this lady who said she didn't like it because it looked like an Oh Henry bar wrapper and she hated Oh Henry bars. For me that was hilarious and stuck, as the "Oh Henry Bar Uniform" from there on out.
I agree completely about the Kings jersey needing the crown logo. The purple and black jerseys were sweet, but unfortunately the teams were awful.
For some weird reason, I would covet the Burger King Jersey and put its King's Menacing Face Jersey or Bailey's Face to its recent Jersey that put my beloved Kings into SC Map and replacethe LA Logo with the small crown inside of it.
The problem with the purple ones was that the Sacramento Kings used purple too. Plus the black and silver really just looks good.
@@waifubreaks1572 several teams share colors with other pro teams though. There's a reason why purple works in a color scheme for a team called the "Kings"

Most of the purple and black were too busy. Especially the coat of arms one. And I disliked how it said Los Angeles along the bottom. The ones now are clean and sharp
This doesn't have anything to do with the video but i got two CCM Avs jerseys from Ben H Sports today and in the package was a card promoting your channel lol.
Those early 2000's Avs jerseys are beautiful btw, best jerseys ever!

The Canuck skate was my favorite logo. I still love it... Not a Canuck fan but that jersey to me was sweet then and is still pretty good today. It doesn't look like anything else but it's better than most.
Love, love, love that Rockies sweater! My sponge hockey team ordered a set directly from McNichols Arena in Denver back around 1981-82. It's one of the best looks ever.
Another bad jersey update was the Bruins' in the mid 90s when they went to the full arm piping. It wasn't a good look at all. The one change I would make with the current uni is that I would bring back the gold B on the black sweater.
The Hartford Whalers looked so great in their green unis with Pucky the whale on the shoulders. Then, in 1985, they removed Pucky and then, in 1992, they changed the base colour of the jersey to blue so they could look like a dozen other teams. So dumb...
The John Ferguson era Rangers sweater you showed isn't a bad look, it just isn't good for the Rangers. It was much better in Winnipeg when Fergie made the Jets wear it when they joined the NHL. The traditional Rangers sweaters are both classics that should never be messed with.
The changes to the Devils new sweaters aren't drastic but they're drastic enough to take an excellent design and make it a blah practice jersey design. Why did they bother? Bring back the green!
Same with the Sharks. Their original design was beautiful and it was popular to the extreme. They also switched to a look with the full arm piping which was somewhat of a downgrade and now, like the Devils, they wear a practice jersey with no stripes around the bottom. And what's with the touch of orange in the arm stripes? Brutal!
The original Buffalo jersey was one of the best looking ever IMO

For the Oilers jersey specifically, I don’t think it would be as bad if it was how our alternates looked, just colour swapped. While the obnoxiously bright orange isn’t great, it really just needs more of the dark blue to contrast.
But you have a point, inverting the current colours would look great as well

They won the President's Trophy with the Golden Slug - it's my favourite Sabres jerseys - damn the purists ;)
Jersey that I didn't think would look good, but surprised the heck out of me when I saw it in a game was the 1923/24 Toronto St. Pat's jersey the Leafs use on St. Patrick's Day. Love it.
A smile came to my face when I saw the flying V coming from stage left for # 1, unlike you Shannon I grew up with the Blue \ Green Stick and Rink jersey, (yes, I'm old) I had blue/green shag carpet and bed sheets, remember back then there was no such thing as "marketing" in the NHL for jerseys or memorabilia and if there was it seemed to be limited to the original 6 teams. The best my parents could do for a Canucks jersey back in about 1971 was a really bad version from Eaton's (can't recall manufacturer) the logo on the chest was close but not exact and I remember the edges logo were serrated like a zig zag pattern, wore the crap out of it playing street hockey, loved it regardless!
Biggest mistake for me is the kings getting rid of purple and yellow. Those two jerseys are some of the best the nhl has seen.
The purple & yellow color scheme represented the losing culture of the Kings!! The Black & Silver sweaters were cool because it signified Gretzky coming over & the success of the organization that came with it.
Wilner Olivier ya I get why they want to stick with the black now cause they’ve had all their success with it but I still like the purple way better
I think at the time everybody hated the kings' sweaters. The colours look better on a basketball court.
Way back the Kings were the only team that changed their pants colour for home and away. Purple for road, gold for home. I think they were the only team that did not wear white at home. Gold sweater, pants, and socks.
They should do a purp amd gold alternate in honor of kobe
Minnesota North Stars jerseys were my favorite. Atlanta Flames were a close second.
I'm proud to say I was one of the handful of people who went to a Colorado Rockies game in the late 70's.

There's only one area where we disagree a ton, and that's the Oilers bright orange. I absolutely love those jerseys, not just because I'm an Edmontonian. I think navy blue and bright orange are the best color combo, and when you look at the fans in Edmonton and it's all bright orange it's really fun. I will give you this, I would prefer they did navy blue and as main and orange on the shoulders with orange shorts; that would be really cool. The reason I don't want us to go back to royal blue is because then I think it would be too bright and royal blue doesn't contrast well, but I still really like it of course. I will also say objectively I adore the Fisherman and waves era of the Islanders, but I totally get whey it's hated, I understand that it wouldn't look great on the ice and it betrays nostalgia.

I've got the Cancucks skate jersey, but it's the third. The red one with the diagonal yellow and black stripes.
Expand this to “uniform design mistakes” and you can add the full length pants the Flyers and Whalers once wore.
As a Sabres fan who moved from buffalo to north Carolina I wish the Sabres would go to the jerseys when they was the buffalo bisons and I thought Jersey looked great it had the Pepsi cap and the bison on the front and I been hoping for years that they would use that as a 3rd jersey

Gotta say I'm by no means a Canucks fan but having grown up in the 00s and gotten into hockey around maybe 2004 when I was 8, ive always known them to have the Orca. To me, and probably only me, their identity will always be the Orca just from the era I grew up in.

5. LA ditching purple & gold
6. Leafs changing the logo in 2015

9. Panthers logo redesign
10. Introducing the Buffaslug
I agree with all but then ditching the mighty was kinda needed. I don’t know how old you are but a lot of people gave them shit back then for a having the mighty in their name

The first Orca ones and the alternate (navy blue fading to red) were my favorite Canucks uniforms ever! They should have kept them
Same here, I get the corporate logo criticism but as a logo on its own, it’s pretty good.
Expansion Caps had a problem with their (then) white pants, they tended to sweat through them during games and they became see-through. Almost as embarrassing as their record that season.
I’m tempted to say that NOTHING is as embarrassing as their record that season!
The Kings changed to black, white and silver when the Raiders came to town in the early 80s

Finally, a list about sukage that the Sens aren't on.
The Senators had the same jersey design (piping/striping) as the Pittsburgh jersey that was on here. Same with Tampa Bay with the black jerseys from around 2008.

I miss the old Nordiques jerseys and The Whale. Although, the Avs colors were awesome when they first moved to CO.
It’s probably related to the fact that I’m from Seattle and I’m 22, but I like the green and blue orca jersey most because of the color scheme.
If there’s a blue and green skate jersey I’d probably like it too.
You might be on to something there, revive the late 80s/early 90's skate jerseys, change the colours to the current blue/green, and maybe update the striping and Vancouver would have a real nice jersey
I personally like the “Star Wars” downward skate logo for Canucks, their black/red/yellow color scheme was my favorite

Awesome video! But there was one bad Blues jersey overlooked, the organization's worst ever. Yeah Ornest saved the team from Saskatoon, but his wife added a big unnecessary "BLUES" script and inexplicably forced the "St. Louis" city name to the hallowed blue note. The peak of badness came in 1985-87 when red was added.

For the old Canucks logo I never really took a look at it and noticed what it actually was. Probably because I was so young when I first saw it and just never took a second look. I should go back and look at all the old jerseys to see what I missed. Thanks for the cool video. GO BRUINS ;D
As a pens fan- never been a fan on the jersey you called out- do enjoy the robo penguin for a nostalgic look. My favorite logo is the scarf wearing penguin from the navy winter classic
The Ottawa Senators and the "Toga" jersey. I love that jersey as a Sens fan because of what they did in that jersey, but I hate it as a design. You take that gorgeous black jersey they had in 1995 and it just sung with that classic white 2D centurion and within a year of introducing that Toga jersey and toss it away. I would gladly take that Reebok Edge combo before I ever want to see that "toga" jersey ever again!
Also, the biggest jersey missed opportunity is Ottawa using that gorgeous Black =O= jersey and their Heritage Classic jersey and not making those their new home and away jerseys. But, that's my 2cents.
You'll be happy to know then that Ottawa is getting new jerseys either in 2020 or 2021.

Everybody hates on that Calgary jersey but I always liked it, except for the striping bit at the bottom that comes up at a 45 degree angle.

All things considered tho, I like the Orca Canucks jerseys & I’ll miss them.

The Predators Reebok was a good look in my opinion, I was so mad when they revealed the Adidas ones.
the Adidas one looked like a practice jersey that they just removed the white circle from; if you want REALLY Hideous, you should see the 2001-2007 Alternate Jersey that was dubbed the "Mustard Jersey"

love these videos. quick note...the NHL like other leagues don’t allow for teams to throw jerseys out right away, i believe they need to be in circulation for at least 3 years. The isles didn’t put the original logo on the fisherman jersey after one year because they thought it would work, they did it because they needed to appease the fans concerns in some way and got special permission from the league.

the black, blue and copper Capital building and screeching Eagle Caps jerseys are one of a kind, they kinda meshed compatibly with the Wizards jerseys at the time.
You’re spot on with the Canucks’ “choir robe” jersey. All I see is players in church singing Amazing Grace before the puck drop.

I’d have had the Flyers failed attempt at being “futuristic” with their 3d facelift winged P from 2002-‘07. The silver accents making it look like some kind of sci-fi homage had me cringing.

The Canucks' orca is fine for me. Honestly, I grew up watching them with the orca logo from the red/blue/silver version to the current version.
I can't relate to the Stick n' Rink or the Skate or the Flying V because I wasn't born then.

Shannon, your least liked is my only Canucks jersey and given to me for Christmas by my father when I was a kid because I had to have a Canucks jersey (things we don't realize as kids). Of course, my fav jersey is the most hated of their 3rds so here's talking of my tastes. I will always love the skate and red/black skate I think looks good.

When I was a kid growing up in BC. I can remember the day they came out with the V and I couldn't believe it I must have been grade 4. And I remember the first game the Canucks played in the v and after the game Stan Smyl said we look like clowns and we played like clowns. I'm so glad. The V won first prize here today. Call me crazy but the original Mighty Ducks jerseys with the Friday the 13th duck mask on them was their best look/colors. I know it was from a Disney movie but it was still a pretty sweet look.
