Ok, so I bought one of these. TFB drop ships it from China to your door so don't expect Australian stock. The Chinglish instructions are rudimentary but you can muddle through, but not sure I rate it a 6/10 difficulty. If you have never worked on your car before and have limited skills in routing cables in cars I think it's closer to an 8/10. The remote signal wire clamp is way too small, you need to splice it. Make sure you watch this video a few times as it gives some helpful tips. Recommend a few tools - plastic pry tools, silicone cable lube and some form of cable snake tools. The lift motor grommets are tough to get, you might need to slice them open a little to make it easier, and the power wire routing through the rubber conduit will make you swear, recommend removing it from the tailgate and manipulating the wire through. I consider myself an average handyman and this took me a solid 5 hours to install. It does work though.
Ok so update. It’s all still working which is good, but I have to say the motors in the lift struts are not Fast enough. This makes it very slow for the tailgate to open and you just end up waiting. Original pneumatic rams are much faster! If I knew this I probably wouldn’t have purchased the electric lift mod. Anyway just thought I’d share in case anyway is considering getting one.
Excellent content , if you can shed some light about routing the cable from the gate to the front? Any suggestion for the route? Also do you know anything about the black grill and black trim ??? It adds a killer look
Any tips on re-seating the rubber grommet in the middle at the rear - where the cables run? The plastic clip is making it challenging to seat the rubber into the boot.
Thanks Nathan for the supply and installation in our VX 300 Series Land Cruiser, could be happier with it, no more reaching up to close the tailgate 😊

When the tailgate is covered in mud or dust it is nice to not have to get your hands dirty closing the tailgate.
