Yessssss I love "Lost Woods." For as long as I've had my Zoia, I keep coming back to that factory patch. Wild to hear how it responds to the wide range of the harp-the extremes of tremolo speed is pretty fantastic.
Wow, awesome demo of the Zoia (and surprise mini demo of Pyramids). Those distortion patches sounded SOOO GOOD on the harp. I love the way you change your playing style to match the effect currently being employed on your instrument. This is my new favorite RUclips channel!
Thanks SO much!! I have a pyramids harp demo coming in a few weeks!!! It’s such a cool pedal. I have been searching for SO long to find a distortion that works well with my playing style and ZOIA definitely delivered :) The most important part of these improv demos for me is listening to what the pedal is doing in real time and adjusting!! It’s so fun, honestly. Thanks so much for being here :)
Well I've got a Zoia so I knew this video was going to be a bit nuts in places. That section from 5:39 onwards was awesome. Trouble with watching all these videos is that not only do I want more pedals but now I'd like an electric harp despite having never played one.
Well, looks like all other pedal plans are going to have to take a backseat to this thing of beauty. I love ZOIA, and I must discover all of its secrets.
I like the Nat Geo patch at 538. This module is quite loaded up with possibilities. Thanks for sharing as usual. 2nd day exploring your channel and still finding new a awesome music, and effects with new to me modules. 🙏
I'm curious with your dive into modular synthesis if you've played around more with the ZOIA on your own since this video? I just ordered one of my own, and I'm really excited by the opportunities it affords - both in the synth and effects world.
About the ZOIA patches, I have built a bunch now. Most for processing external signals, and many of those based on the granular module. I would love to hear what you two may do with a few of them. ❤
Honestly the learning curve is pretty steep, and it can be easy to feel option paralysis! If you don’t mind taking the time to learn it and diving into the menu for a long time, it’s not so bad! It has presets that sound great though, without having to do any of that. If you are more of a “plug in and go” person, maybe it’s not for you!
@@emilyharpist thank you for responding! Most of my gear (for guitar) is pretty simple but I think I will get a ZOIA and spend the time with the instructions. It certainly will be the most complex device I will own but if I can get some of those sounds it will be worth it. Thanks for letting me know what I’m in for and of course your alway wonderful demonstrations. Wish me luck!
great question!! ZOIA is a lot more versatile, so it's kind of like comparing apples to oranges .. Microcosm and ZOIA are my top 2 favorite effects pedals that I've tried this year so far, so it's very difficult for me to say which one is "better", as they're both very new staples on my pedalboard. I might have a better answer for you in 6 months or a year from now! 😂
Well I tell everyone a harp is essentially a piano flipped on the side, so you have a great start!! 😂 I often use piano sheet music for my harp scores, and if you already know how to use left and right hand separately, you’re starting out further along than I did! The only thing I will say about the learning curve is that the harp is very technique-heavy, as you can really injure yourself if you don’t have proper hand technique. I’ve been playing for over 20 years now (god, that makes me sound so old!!) so it’s second nature to me at this point, but it did take me a while to get here. I would absolutely recommend studying with a harp teacher, at least when you first start out, so you can learn proper hand position. I usually never have a problem with being self-taught, but it’s worth a couple of harp lessons to make sure your hand positioning and technique is correct to avoid future injuries! :)
Please find a synthesizer musician, stat. I didn't realize synths could be stuffed into effect pedals, but, given the miniaturization of today's technology, should I really be surprised? I think you could do some REALLY amazing things if you found the right synthesizer musician to accompany your work, and that way, you don't have to spend the small fortune that good synthesizer instruments can quickly eat.
Yup. I still want a Zoia. Glad I checked.
😂😂😂
You won't regret it

Have you thought about contacting Devin Townsend, you two together could do something amazingly weird, and the world would just love it!
Loved the houseplant jam.
gonna need an album and each track is its own pedal.
Hahah amazing idea!! I’m currently reworking my favorite improvisations from demos into an album!!
super fantastic....awesome....perfect mix...

that synth part was really surprising! Cyber-Harp 2088
hahah right?! I was surprised, too!! it's so cool that the pedal can be it's own instrument, too 🤖🤘🏻
Awesome!🏰
Thanks 🏰
Best one yet!
Thank you :3
Super cool demo! Which Kalimba is that? I need one! It would probably work great with the microcosm hologram
It’s the lottie canto colour palette!
I like this a lot..wow!
This one is so much fun!! Does so many things
Zoia will help you find Da Funk, the real Funk, the P-funk!!! I wants my Funk uncut!
Pure beauty :-)
❤️ ❤️
The sounds that come out are beautiful. I want one but all those buttons seem intimidating to my small brain. Does it take long to learn?

Have you had to Strymon Mobius,Bluesky and Timeline pedals connected to the Empress Effects ZOIA Pedal at the same time.
