    For those of you with 3rd gen Camaro's, you are likely already aware our 30+ year old Camaro's are pretty much inevitable where our door handles will start to rattle so much that they sounds like they are about to fall off when you drive on bumpy roads!
    Well in this video I'm going to not only show you how to remove your old door handles, but I will show you exactly how to install the best (in my opinions) replacement door handles.
    I am of course talking about the FLUSH DOOR HANDLES from HOFFMAN DESIGN & ENGINEERING (HDE PRODUCTS) which will fix that issue and result is a cleaner looking design.
    STAY TUNED IN THE VIDEO: I have a GREAT TIP for those who may also be thinking about the same concern I had when I was deciding on whether to purchase FLUSH door handles or not.

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, it's a very nice piece for sure! I've already had people who are not aware of his handles comment on them and are puzzled where I got them from. :-)
      Definitely one of the better recent additions to the car :-)

      He posted online after my video drew a bunch of attention again that he has taken a break from producing them. Making like 900 sets in 4 years.
      However he also mentioned that he will be restarting them again in a few weeks 😀

    Great video, the best one I have seen explaining how to install these. I just got a '89 RS yesterday and am excited to get to work on it. My first new car was an '86 Berlinetta (starship Camaro) that I had to sell in '92 and have been looking to get another for a long time now. I subscribed.

      I have an 85 Berlinetta and I won't let go of it. There were so few made and there are so very few left now. I'm fortunate that mine is almost 100% functional. Best of luck finding one, but beware of the rarity of parts.

    I installed one but the handle still rattles and the clearance is a concern might go back to the original love the flush look.

    • @thecamarogarage
      @thecamarogarage  2 месяца назад

      The flush handles uses the spring in your latch mechanism. GM relied entirely on a spring inside the handle to stop rattles. Once that spring either breaks or bends, the handles then began to give the common rattle issues.
      Because these flush handles have no springs, they rely on the spring that is actually found on the latch lock itself. If that spring is not in good, strong condition then the handles will definitely rattle.
      They should have included instructions indicating this in the kit. Or at least it was in mine.
      Clearance definately could be a concern with those with larger fingers. I have no issues with mine but I also had a strip of clear PPF installed under the handles to prevent finger nails from scratch the paint. Not for me but for those on the passenger side trying to open the door not used to the opening using your finger tips.

  • @tonydew

    I really want to support this guy and buy a set, but I can't get over the fact that they don't really fit the door handle relief area. The relief area is slightly curved, and it just looks wonky when installed. Also, I have big hands and I'm concerned about the little room to get my fingers in. I wish someone would make one that maybe isn't completely flush, but has more finger room and fits the relieved area batter.

    • @thecamarogarage
      @thecamarogarage  5 месяцев назад

      It might definitely be a bit more difficult with larger fingers. When the handles are placed into that handle relief area, there really is not much room for finger space to create a handle that is still flush but have a larger area for the fingers. I feel he did the correct design to match the limited space available in that area.
      When it's placed on the outside such as the factory ones, there is much more available space as apposed ti placed in the indentation.
      Overall I have zero issues with the design for myself. Extremely happy with the design, fit, and quality 😀

    • @tonydew
      @tonydew 5 месяцев назад

      There is obvious quality in these. I could probably even get used to the finger clearance (especially the PPF trick to keep from scraping fingernails). It’s just that fitment at the top that has kept me from going ahead.
      Thanks for the in depth instructions though!

    • @thecamarogarage
      @thecamarogarage  5 месяцев назад

      These are advertised for a 3rd gen camaro so I'm not sure if it would work on anything else.
      I'm almost leaning toward it working on 3rd gen firebird since many parts are interchangeable.
