People in So Cal who plan to go to DL & DCA often should NOT buy the Imagine key! It is the cheapest but has the least access to the park and the least benefits. The entire summer is blocked out as is the Christmas season. Maybe if you don’t plan on going often and are willing to pay full price for the holiday season tickets and for summer.
That's totally a fair point. But I think this really comes down to a difference of opinion. There are so many other things to do in the summer in the area. So to me the imagine key is a great way to have disneyland access throughout the year and then if people decide to upgrade at renewal they have that option. If the imagine key were open to all of CA my family would have that tier and plan our trips around the days available to us. But that's why they designed the tiers the way they did- to encourage higher volume of park attendees in the non-peak seasons.
Thank you - great video with a great breakdown that actually makes sense. Follow up question: do you buy the magic key for only the adults or for the kids too?
Restating to clarify my question 😊 do you think it’s cost effective to buy children a magic key as well (or just buy regular tickets for them) … especially given that you only need 1 key to get a discount for food / merchandise / etc. I understand they wouldn’t get the discount for genie plus.
Honestly it's up to you. Depending on how many days you plan to visit. Also if you plan to park hop, you'd need to get hoppers for the kids as well. Do you know how many days you're planning to visit? My SIL has a key and did not get any for her kids. She goes a lot by herself, friends or her mom. Her kids go maybe once or twice a year.
I think I don't get it! I was told that I get no discount on tickets after I purchased the Enchant Key. So I am bummed about that! I was never told that the park hopper was included! Is that true, a park hopper is included? I called Disneyland for help in purchasing tickets and was not told anything about discounts or free park hopper!!!! I feel like I wasted my money on the Enchant key.
With a magic key you are able to park hop at 11am any day you have a reservation. Your key does include discounts to certain restaurants, parking lots, eateries and shops throughout the Disneyland resort area. There are also hotels in the area which offer discounts but I believe you have to book directly with the hotel to get those discounts. I would recommend searching "Magic Key benefits" and reading the full details. You are correct - you do NOT get discounts on purchasing additional tickets. I hope this helps some!
@@Corina_thismagicaladventure Ohhhhhh my goodness. After seven (7) calls to Disneyland, speaking with four different Cast Members and three supervisors, I have finally figured out that the first cast member I spoke with did not provide me with accurate information (costing me over $550). Sadly, the tickets purchased due to the mistaken information are not refundable. At least, after talking with Katelyn, I was able to change all of my plans to the tickets for Annual Pass Members, Still, I'm stuck with three park hopper/Genie+ tickets. Hopefully I will be able to talk one of my family members into purchasing the tickets for a later trip with me! UGH.
Yep, that's what I recommend, too. For the purposes of this video my goal is to compare the offerings & benefits of a magic key - which does include hoppers.
Awesome video! This was a great breakdown! Thank you for the info!
Great video. This was exactly the breakdown I was looking for
I'm so glad it was helpful!
great video, thanks for the info
You're welcome!

Anyone over the age of 3 needs one, the same with park tickets :)

Trying to decide if I should buy a magic key for adults and just tickets for the kids versus magic keys for all 😊 thank you for your input

Save money by forgoing hopper passes and just dedicating one day to each park
