  • With the newest DVC Resort opening this week, it seemed like the perfect time to review some of the financial aspects of owning Disney Vacation Club. In this video, I cover the ongoing costs of becoming a Disney Vacation Club member. If you are considering purchasing DVC, this video is a must-watch!

Food expenses because we now are there longer and can check out more sit-down restaurants.

    I love your channel
pet sitter is a big expense for us. We drive but we rent a minivan to fit all our stuff.
i do buy the DVC annual passes for the immediate family and we get the mani-pedi at one of the Disney spas (GF). My son rents a double stroller to use during the week.
All these costs i had before i bought DVC so i cant blame DVC. We have an owners locker to hold Christmas decorations for the room, the cozy blanket we use, brita water filter and any games that will fit to fill it up. After listening to your video i now buy the disney offered vacation insurance --with three young kids it is a good bet someone will need a dr visit.
i put souvenirs on my vacation budget, one sit down meal at day
I still have add-on itis but it is under control these days. ( i am waiting to see the deal for the new Poly)
we try to one extra activity each vacation- rent a pool cabana, go on a park tour or AK adventure or rent a boat.
It is just a great big fun family vacation and i try to keep it fresh with a new activity each time.

The pet sitter was a big expense for us as well, but we had to say goodbye to our elderly Greyhound last April. We miss her, but we save A LOT of money now. Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel. Best wishes!

Good summary of costs. We have an Owners Locker, and it is worth every penny.

I'm not sure what I would keep in an owner's locker, but I know that a lot of people love it. We tend to do split stays, so I'm not sure how that would work. I need to look into it.

@@TheMagicInTheMusic we keep the adult bathing suits (not our daughter's) as our sizes don't change that much. We keep swim toys, goggles, indoor Art activities for rainy days. We keep a set of full-size toiletries because we have sensitivity to fragrances in toiletry products. I also keep the stroller cover, reusable thermoses, and an insulated lunch kit there. I believe if you do a split stay, you simply give the box back to the bell stand and ask them to transfer it along with your luggage to the next resort. I'll let you know after our stay this autumn as we are doing our first split stay!

Owners lockers, pet kenneling, and yes - mother/daughter mani/pedi before the trip, and even my husband does a pedicure because he’s embarrassed by his feet in sandals, LOL.

Owner's Locker! That's a great suggestion! I don't have one, but I know that a lot of people do.

I don’t have full “add-on”-itis but I do wish we had about 25 more points so we could really maximize our split stays. It’s more of if-we-get-a-windfall-we-might-get-some-more-itis. Otherwise our points do great by us.

It’s interesting that Disney (evidently) eliminated the longstanding service of on site pet boarding. Was it bc most ppl fly in? Idk, just wondering the rationale. Probably the bottom line (money) was the ultimate reason. It usually is. ;).

I'm not sure. I just looked it up and I see reviews as recent as just a few days ago. It seems as though they are still operational. If you're looking for pet care, I think it's worth reaching out to confirm if they are still operating.

@@TheMagicInTheMusic thanks. I’m not sure either. I thought the pet kennel at dland was taken over with something else. And I thought I read that the arrangement with best friends at Wdw was a goner, but again, not sure. Your suggestion to check is a good one. Thanks.

Seems like it's cheaper to just stay at a resort instead of buying a timeshare and paying the maintenance fees.

If you enjoy staying off property, DVC doesn't make as much sense. But for those of us who ALWAYS stay on property, and do so on a regular basis, this is definitely a way to save money. It just depends on your travel habits.

Hi Jenn, how many days would you need to have a break even with annual pass? Being from 🇨🇦, we will be going twice a year staying 7 days maybe 8 per trip. We have BRV as home resort (resale). I believe one annual pass would suffice for some savings but not sure if additional is wise. One trip is Feb (President day week) and other is mid October. Any thoughts?

    • @TheMagicInTheMusic
      @TheMagicInTheMusic  10 месяцев назад

I haven't done the math on it for a while, but typically around 10 days of park tickets is the break-even point for an Sorcerer AP at Disney World. Yes, you could get an AP for just one member of your party and enjoy some discounts, etc. but I find it more convenient for my whole family to have the AP. I don't want to have to think about buying tickets for my kids or worrying about how many days to buy. I like just knowing that we can go when we want and do quick drop-ins without worry about using up park tickets. It's just a matter of what works best for you.

@@TheMagicInTheMusic thanks … I did some quick math as we would have to purchase the most expensive AP as only resale DVC. $1489… break even would be 14 days or more. For our situation, it saves $55 dollars per person but $4500 one shot deal. Thanks for input, love the content. Cheers🍺
