I get it. His voice is so unique. It's the sound of my formative teen years that takes me right back to that place in time. I wish I could somehow let that younger me know that things get better and that even though the darkness feels never-ending...it's not. It's only temporary.

For me, one of the most powerful lyrics ever written. He captured the subject matter perfectly. I'd like to pick a line of the song which is my favourite but each line is so poignant. And of course, beautiful delivery by Eddie.

In the Netherlands we had a crime-reporter named Peter R. de Vries but he was assassinated last summer. The openings phrase of this song (On bended knee is no way to be free) was used by him as his slogan and had it engineered with a tattoo on one of his calfs.

At this late hour, perhaps, I find, I either disappear when I am still, quiet, or I am missing the part that alerts an other is there. It is amazing for me to experience, completely unaware. It is a responsibility, especially, with elders, others, who may startle. I joke it is a miraculous super power. As a kid, I notice, animals regard me, the same as each other, in the wood, field, waterway. It is the biggest thrill and my greatest hope. I have not ever met anyone even remotely interested to listen to an account of what an animal has taught me, just inside the forest, sitting on a wall, etc. In a Japanese garden, there are Mallard ducks, all snoozing, eyes closed, bills tucked into their wings. I think to myself, about the calm they provide me. I notice an old metal/ glass candy dispenser with a crank, a place to put a quarter in, and turn, for duck food. I put a quarter in, and return to a bench, looking at the food in my hand, when a Tufted Titmouse, alights on the end of my finger and takes a tube of duck food. I am so amazed, likely can write a thousand words, stretch one word for a couple hours, 2000 miles, unable to adequately describe.
