This will be sung at my funeral. A bloody Fabulous song. If this song is not available I will settle for "You are going out the same way you came in" sung by big Tom.
OK - This comment is written on New Year's Eve of the Year my father died - back in August for those of you are bothered. This is the song my father insisted should be sung at his funeral and was he ever right? This is song that lowered a bucket into the well of despair and drew me up; This is the song that showed me my father was still there for me- death notwithstanding - Thanks Dad
My fathers FAVORITE song, and I would like it played at my funeral as well. You have to understand the tongue-in-cheekedness of this song, not morbid, just wonderful.
I remember back in the early 60s I would stay at my Grans house in Hastings, Sussex...she would put on Radio Eireann on her wireless...it came in on the "skip" after 730pm (like Radio Luxemburg)....
Our family used to go to Boscombe every year for our holidays in the early 70's and the house we stayed in had an old gramaphone player and some old 78s. Can remember as a young boy the first thing we would do when we got their was to wind it up & put on this song. Great memories. Bloomin Great Horses!
This always makes me chuckle - I was listening to it before work this morning and it was going round my head all morning - I'm a home carer and daren't tell the clients what i was singing in my head :D
The song is about you! I don't mean that in a bad way but the song is about how the widow became available .... Perhaps you should request "Nancy Whiskey"!
We played this at my Dad's funeral at his request. At the end everyone was singing along and clapping, Dad would have loved it. I'm torn between this and Enjoy Yourself (it's later than you think) for my own. My brother wants Death of Clown, which is another good choice. Mainly I want to quote the great Stan Laurel who famously said 'If any of you cry at my funeral I'll never speak to you again'
This is a good one. I never heard' any other version of it. It is nearly the same song all the way through. The fourth line in every verse' is the only one changed in the song.
"Always remember the longer you live the sooner you bloody well die" I hope to live long enough to see an end to the asshole we have as a president to die before me. And an end to the socialist bullshit he has introduced to this country. Up the Republic!

Irish morbidity! You gotta love it. Doubtless Samuel Beckett's favorite lullaby.
In memory of Barney Loughlin. He loved this song!

So glad I found it! 👍
What kind of hellish school did you go to? 😂 Or maybe just a school with a generally great sense of humour

I was weaned on the Clancy Brothers. I heard these songs before I even knew what they meant.
Me, too. My dad used to play them on his stereo system.
This will be played, with merriment and cheer, at my funeral
I first heard this in a pub in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1980.

Inspiring for any honest person of this imperfect Earth... Great !
His voice when he says "Bloody good female" sounds kind of sad somehow, it hits me hard everytime

Tommy Makem read row right. LOVE HIM
My uncles funeral song fucking brilliant 👏
Me too ,
The send off song is the Parting Glass!
I hope it will be played at mine
Rip aunty
Do you think they would allow this song in a church cos I'd like it
The original had "blooming" as originally a English music hall type song from early 30s. Clancy brothers replaced with "bloody".
Yes just before the bagpipes
"ain't it grand to be blooming well dead" is tipped off by the title
Here is the original artist ... ruclips.net/video/NcAieB-2kC0/видео.html
Meaning no disrespect to the Clancy Brothers, I wonder what Butthole Surfers version of this song might sound like.
What’s weird is they’re also dead. Hope it was played at their funeral
Look at the preacher..Not at my send off...
