you probably dont care at all but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any help you can give me
I saw the Clancy brothers sing this song on tv in the '60's'. I fell in love with it then, I still love it to this day, and I haven't a drop of Irish blood in me. What could that possibly mean?.
I felt a bit bad, but after a little whiskey I felt better. Renewed, even. It really is the 'water of life'. It's good stuff. Course, I'm drinking American Bourbon, so, it's not Irish. I would like to one day go to Dublin, and taste the local brew.
+Max The Cute Pomeranian Keep them alive by going into a local pub and stand on the bar and belt out some of their classic ballads! :) If you don't get kicked out of the pub, you may get a drink named after you... In all seriousness, I miss these guys too!
inlove The Clancy Brothers and tommy makem i want to be a Clancy Brother like a irish man im a biggest fan i love all there music poterty and there songs
Tim Finnegan lived in Wattling Street A gentle Irishman mighty odd He had a brogue so rich and sweet To rise in the world he carried a hod See he'd sort of a tripling way With love for a liquor poor Tim was born To help him on with his work each day He'd a drop of the Craythor every morn' And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner Welt the floor, your trotters shake Wasn't it the truth I told you Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake One morning Tim felt rather full His head felt heavy, which made him shake Fell from the ladder and broke his skull And they carried him home, his corpse to wake They rolled him up in a nice clean sheet And laid him upon the bed A bucket of whiskey at his feet And a bottle of porter at his head And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner Welt the floor, your trotters shake Wasn't it the truth I told you Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake His friends assembled at his wake And Missus Finnegan called for lunch First they brought in tay and cake Then pipes, tobacco and whiskey punch Biddy O'Brien began to cry Such a nice clean corpse did you ever see Aye, Tim me boy, oh why did you die? It’s “tippling” Aqua (drinking to excess as habit) and also “cratur” of whiskey every morn...tip from an Irishman - cratur come from “creature” - Nice job throwing the words up there though!
I think that my first version was by the Clancy Brothers. But maybe like horse racing they are both 2 to 1 Joint Favourites. And would I bet to be a winner? No, they are the winners. I love all there songs. They come to mind so fast and just as a test which of these would you know more than the other? "Molly Malone" or "Red Haired Mary"
Not only was I named after James Joyce (him having been my father's favorite author and intellectual figure) but he's become my favorite author of all time too. Some of even the most respected Joyce scholars say Finnegans Wake should be ignored as unintelligible. I understood (with the help of other books) a portion of the enigmatic masterpiece's use of language and was amazed at how much it opened up once I got a few bearings in the text. Although I think it ranks lower than Ulysses as a Modernist masterpiece (From the standpoint of of an admirer of the Western Canon. It's okay if you're critical of that ideology. Hey some times I am too.) but it is definitely worth the effort for the payoff of understanding a portion of it. If for no other reason than for the laughs that you'll get once you in to it. My father introduced me to James Joyce right at the end of high school and I started reading. I never looked back and my knowledge of Joyce has now far surpassed my father's. The only sad thing is that there are no more books by James Joyce for me to read next.
There are plenty of patterns available. Just search "Aran" knit or "Irish fisherman" knit. These sweaters are not for the casual knitter. They have a lot of complex stitches and the pattern changes often. You have to concentrate on your knitting - definitely cannot knit this as something to do while watching TV.
More than 50 years after my mother played this song for me on her record player, it still makes me smile.
Makes me cry, thinking of my father. The first English I ve learnt came from the Clancy Brothers listening.
Atleast your mother didn’t have the emotional intelligence of a doorknob
I saw them with my parents. 6 or 7 I was. Knew the words from hearing them since birth. Good memories

Taking this shot for my old man who introduced me to good Irish music and good Irish single malt. May the road rise to meet you, Mark.

I grew up with their version of this song so it's my favorite, Erin Go Bragh, Happy St Patrick's Day!
I love songs with audience participation. A timeless classic!
I had a sweater like that once. It's whereabouts now unknown.
Many years too late, id love nothing more than to see them live once in my life.
Haven't heard this song in years. It brings back great memories from my youth. Thanks for posting this !
God, what memories! Big big fan in my teens back in the early 70’s. Had a friend with all the albums. Knew all the words, and still do

Always fun to see Tommy and the Brothers perform live! Lucky me, saw them several times!
I felt a bit bad, but after a little whiskey I felt better. Renewed, even. It really is the 'water of life'. It's good stuff.

Irish music at it's very best.
Agreed. I've always felt drinking songs were best done live with audience participation and heavy drinking.
Awesome. Ao real assessment of life

+rgawer2 So uplifting that it brought Ol' Tim back from the dead!
Hahaha, My name is Tim Dinnigan, I had my head blown apart, and I'm to say to you I'm here to stay!
Tim Finnegan lived in Wattling Street
A gentle Irishman mighty odd
He had a brogue so rich and sweet
To rise in the world he carried a hod
See he'd sort of a tripling way
With love for a liquor poor Tim was born
To help him on with his work each day
He'd a drop of the Craythor every morn'
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
One morning Tim felt rather full
His head felt heavy, which made him shake
Fell from the ladder and broke his skull
And they carried him home, his corpse to wake
They rolled him up in a nice clean sheet
And laid him upon the bed
A bucket of whiskey at his feet
And a bottle of porter at his head
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
His friends assembled at his wake
And Missus Finnegan called for lunch
First they brought in tay and cake
Then pipes, tobacco and whiskey punch
Biddy O'Brien began to cry
Such a nice clean corpse did you ever see
Aye, Tim me boy, oh why did you die?
Arrah shut your gob said Paddy MCGee
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
Then Maggie O'Connor took up the job
Biddy says she you're wrong I'm sure
Biddy gave her a belt on the gob
And left her sprawling on the floor
Then the war did soon engage
Woman to woman and man to man
Shillelah-law was all the rage
A row and a ruction soon began
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
Then Mickey Maloney raised his head
When a bucket Of whiskey flew at him
It missed him falling on the bed
The liquor scattered over Tim
Tim revives, see how he rises
Timothy rising from the bed
Whirl your whiskey around like blazes
Thundering Jesus, do you think I'm dead
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
And whack Fol-De-Dah now dance to your partner
Welt the floor, your trotters shake
Wasn't it the truth I told you
Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake
Nah, "thundering Jesus do you think I was dead?"
ye i just copied and pasted off google ive seen the mistakes and ima go through and fix em
i think i got it all fixed

The first Version of this song I heard was recorded by Ronnie Drew and The Dubliners. It's my favourite, but this is a very close second.
Yisrael Foreman what about Irish Rovers ?
We are the real winners. We get to listen to both amazing versions.

Good Song
And so 100 percent Irish. So you are dead. So what the issue. So funny. Love this song
they are so great..I WANT THE PATTERN FOR THOSE SWEATERS TOO
There are plenty of patterns available. Just search "Aran" knit or "Irish fisherman" knit. These sweaters are not for the casual knitter. They have a lot of complex stitches and the pattern changes often. You have to concentrate on your knitting - definitely cannot knit this as something to do while watching TV.
Good stuff..
Reminds me Conor McGregor's latest fight against the auld fella in the bar. His Whiskey rough as fuck would wake the dead...
love it
Never to be repeated
Joyce would disagree.
Whiskey so rough it'll wake a man from his grave!
Is Brea liom an geansaí!
Where can you get such a sweater!?
Ireland.
From the hand of the Lord.
There called Aran jumpers, from the Aran islands off the west coast of Ireland,
Aran sweaters
Don't wear them to the beach.
Me home alone with a bottle of Jameson thinking about my death:
