Wow i just realized how deep this is, he saved her life. She owed him and when he needed her the most she couldn’t do anything. Heartbreaking.

Exactly, and why she was so hellbent on destroying Orlov and his whole operation later in the movie. It was personal.
She had to earn their trust and in order to do that she couldn't save him. She couldn't allow her feelings for him to interrupt the plans she had made.

I think this scene's purpose is just to show the audience that this is what would happen to her if she make mistakes and gets captured and showing us "she is well trained, but that doesn't mean she is invincible". She gets freed just because of pure luck that her employer can still tracked her whereabout. Her eyes screaming hopeless, The lies of her being a businesswoman is the only thing that stand between her and death sentence. It's been too long since we saw a femme fatale so grounded down to earth such as this
No, this scene was to show the audience how and why she switched loyalties from Russia to USA. She fell in love with Mike, the man who rescued her from the torture and was what flicked a switch in her.
Superb acting , not at all surprising , because her father is also a great actor . I guess talent just runs in the family. I love how action packed her movies are , keeps you always looking forward to her next movie, never ever a boring moment . I just love this lady .
